Unity - Midnight Sin [v0.8.2] [Faerin]

Its a very solid game by Faerin but not my favorite. I wish there was more actual game mechanics like what he attempted in Mystwood. Still a great game with great design, but he set the bar so high with other titles that this isn't quite there yet.

Man, it just pains me a lot to not give this game a 5-star review because with some tweaks in the story and a little more creativity to make this game more easygoing and, somehow, heartfelt, this could've been peak.

This game starts really good in it's premise and the early development of the main characters.

Madeline is this very hot and seductive MILF that used to be the wife of your dickhead father (a very good trope). The relationship with her at the beginning is so damn good, man. If her story was entirely focused on the very cliché of a cold woman warming out for a caring man (MC) without any shenanigans, I feel like this would be just so much better.

Olivia is this petite younger daughter that is clearly eager to jump on MCs dick from the very beginning (also a very good trope). This reminds me of some characters that I LOVE in other media, but I feel like here she is somehow nerfed by the main plot.

Victoria at the beginning doesn't like the idea of the MC becoming their bodyguards and I feel like she just flips her mood way too quickly and doesn't have a decent development.

I would say that Anabelle got the most fair treatment regarding the development of her side story, but once again, it's all jeopardized by the weird main plot.

By this point you can tell that my problem with this game relies almost entirely in the main plot, that is uninteresting and feels unfitting at many times.

It's not exactly a bad game, after all, I'm actually giving a good grading because the characters are extremely hot, but it's very disapointing that a lot of "what ifs" are wandering through my head every time I play this game. It could be literal perfection.

Author, I don't know how or what turns you on, but endless grinding and wasted time, as well as supposedly incorrect answers, kill any passion. If that's the true purpose of your plan, then you've truly achieved it. Who's telling you that anyone could actually enjoy such a scenario in a game whose purpose is to have a good wank? How do such thoughts lead developers to waste so much time on this meaningless, empty content? What's wrong with you? Is this what you're paid for? Beautiful graphics, a good idea, and tons of meaningless content to skip and waste time on. It's simple—even a hentai minigame is a mindless grind for NOTHING! NOTHING! You can't skip events that don't give you anything later in the game, when you've already earned enough achievements to screw every woman in the house. Good games can be replayed for fun or re-watched through the gallery. Who in their right mind would even think of replaying your game in a few days or weeks? Everyone only remembers two things about your game: pretty pictures and a ton of empty material to skip with a sour face. It's the 21st century! Hello! Want some originality in your script? Simple: remove the unoriginal grinding, childishly primitive minigames, and pointless, empty actions for nothing! Good luck!

Great, very sexy models and good renders.
Everything else is pretty much mediocre;:

- Endless grinds to earn money to purchase ridiculously expensive garments for the girls just to increase the playtime. This in fact irritates the player instead of pulling him into immersion with the game.

- though the story has a certain appeal, there is a lack of depth in MC's emotional engagement with the girls, which also takes away from credibility and interest in the flow of events.

- Too much empty, event-free time that forces the player into constant clicking to skip the idle time. Not sure if the Unity format contributes to this. If it were a Renpy VN, this wouldn't be possible

- The player is forced into the BDSM route. There should be other alternatives because not everyone is into this.

- The animation of the sex scenes lacks imagination and reeks of predictability.

All in all, a game with a great potential and a solid foundation but poorly executed.

I really wanted to like this game, since I really like what Faerin has done before, but this is a few steps backward. The quality of the graphics is great, but there are some issues with how things look during sex scenes, especially faces.

The biggest problem is with the supposed sandbox. It falls into the tired trope of, "Oh no, an attractive woman wants to have sex with me, I'm incapable of saying no, despite her treating me horribly just a few hours earlier!" All so that the ridiculous blackmail plot can start. If you're going to make the protagonist over the age of 14, give them a bit of self-control. If you're going to call it a sandbox, don't railroad the player with something major, especially something that silly.

Fantastic game. The start is slow, even with cheat mode, but it's worth spending that time, because the content that is later avaialable in the game is great. Plot is great, characters are great. Graphics is really good, there are animation. There is a lot of content, 3hr+ even with skipping. Only thing: the dominant scene with Victoria should be optional, I wish there will be an option to make her more submissive in the future.

Beautiful game. I loved the visual art, the character models are gorgeous, and the animation is fluid. The story is okay, but fun. In one night, I reached the latest version [v0.8.1], and I hope the game is still doing well.

Take a moment to look closer and it turns out not nearly as dull as it initially seems. I’m genuinely impressed by the renders, and to my own surprise, even the interface appeals to me. The stats feature is strange and probably unnecessary, but overall, great work by the developer. I’d recommend giving it a try.

One of the good sandbox which keeps players engages

Pros:
Stunning character design
Gradual relation and mustery is revealed

Cons:
Story goes for a toss , it is just about women in the house as if now, and also because of crowd if women xharacter relation with a single chatacter is not developnent.
Also it relies on privacy invasion as crutch for relation dev , which is fine but it doesn't woek if that is the only way , feels like lazy writing in an other wise one of the genuonely good dialogue which shows development in a sandbox type game.

Mid:
If there was better story dev and charayer dev.(Which for now stands for as archetype with twist then rela caharvter c has more persobaluty)I would have given this 5/5.

Extrq: Its autosave function is really godly saves your game many time.
Second please save your game seperately as if you delete the game you might need to start fm be gg inning unlike for renpy . It is a hassle.

Pros:
I like the premise of being a bodyguard and lost son/new family.
The girls are attractive, distinct and feel geniune.
The UI features are awesome and improved.

Cons:
The gameplay is severely lacking, feels like a stepdown from their previous sandboxes. You pretty much start skipping time almost immediately. Which makes it less immersive. HUGE timegaps of nothing happening. Might as well make it a "Morning, Day, Evening, Night" system, which makes it less work on the backend with less character movement. Maybe something like summer memories, the core of their system is great.

Or make it an AVN with choices. Sandbox games are huge swings, either they are one of the best most immersive games, or you are there spamming buttons wondering wtf all these are for, unfortunately this falls into the latter despite the wonderful other feature this game has.

I think a system overhaul can save this game, which has decent narrative structure. It's just the "game" part that is holding it back.

It's a good game, but it lacks diversity in adult content and has outdated, ancient gameplay.

The renders are good and the characters are amazing, but the scenes themselves are extremely basic with no eroticism or kinks — just very vanilla. The BDSM content is boring and generic — everything in that department has been seen multiple times before in previous games by the same developer and in other games.


It's a shame because the situation and story could have led to far more interesting plot twists and situations, but it's just simple and boring in the end.

The gameplay is the biggest failure. We are returning to the 'good old' Big Brother days, but those days are better left as a good memory. The 24-hour cycle, the rigid schedule to advance in the game, the money farming and the buying of items are all outdated. I feel like I'm in 2017 again. The developer didn't evolve in this department, and unfortunately it's a big let-down.

Renders look great and has some nice build-up, a little slow and definitely got cock-blocked by having too many things I need to do coinciding with mandatory "chauffeur" scenes where nothing happened which was annoying as shit but overall like it. Should be mentioned somewhere in-game that the bonus points don't currently do anything. Spent waaay too long looking for how to spend them and earning them for nothing.

There's nice models and animations, and an alright story, but this really should be a kinetic novel. The sandbox contributes nothing and just adds unnecessary clicks with little to no variation in the sandbox from story elements, thus breaking immersion, and the only progression really are just MC's stats and relationship counters. The whole gameplay loop is just do something, check the hints, then do something else, but being only 25% of the time because the other 75%, you're just clicking to move time forward. There's just nowhere near enough depth to justify the sandbox 'feature'.

Well, it's been ages since i've played a game this good. This is one of those games that gives you nostalgia about CMA and The Patriarch. The Domination theme is intense and I like it. This is one of those games that doesn't shy from embracing the male domination and BDSM at all. The characters have depth and personality. The story line is pretty thrilling and engaging. overall: 5/5

A great game (another from this developer). All the girls are incredibly hot, and the story is quite interesting; you can get quite invested into it sometimes. Also, it has regular updates, which is quite refreshing.

v 0.7.2 As with most Faerin games it starts slow but the girls are actually interesting enough that I didn't skip much dialogue.
The scenes are great and well animated too.

Pros:
1. A sandbox that isn't annoying to navigate
2. The girls are actually fun as well being gorgeous
3. Mini games aren't irritating
4. Hint system is actually helpful.

Cons:
1. The main plot about the company and death of the father is non-existent till now
2. The Online game bits are dull.

Overall it's very good but if they can progress the main story in a satisfying way it could be bumped to 5 stars.

I tried twice, rolling the fucking mouse like an idiot in what appeared to be a backward roll arm hold that didn't stop the fucking timer no matter which way you rolled the fucking mouse, and the reason for the 1 star is there's no way to turn the fucker off... twice was enough, I'm out of here.

I've played both Man of the House and Mystwood Manor, and while those two games didn't look probably half as good and polished as this one, they felt much better on immersion.

The rating was also heavily affected by a single, but explicit femdom scene of the last (0.7.2) update, with MC as sub. That's a big no for me, and doesn't match game tags as well.

To be fair, it is possible it can be avoided, if you choose angel choice instead of the devil, but that is completely unclear from the context (moreso because devil choice is usually associated with MC dom scenes), and you're locked on the choice unless you reload (rollback doesn't help).

When taken together with the fact that this is essentially a kinetic novel disguised as sandbox, and in my experience you're unlikely to be able to progress without finishing quests for all characters, this sucked bigtime for me.

At any rate, here are the ratings:

Plot/storytelling: 4/5. Very decent as far as porn games go, some suspension of belief needed, but basically quite OK.

Visuals/sounds: 5/5. Simply excellent. A bit shortish animated scenes, but there is the quality that smoothes the shortness.

Maledom: 2,5/5. Quite softcore. Don't get me wrong, the scenes are hardcore porn enough, but all the domination is quite PC, even if it is aided by decent dialogue. It's good for real life, but for fantasy one may want something more. With the addition of the last update's femdom scene I am tempted to give it 1/5, but let's leave it as it is.

It should also be noted that most scenes are not repeatable ingame, and you have to go to gallery for re-enactment. This is one of the things that break immersion a bit. You fked Madelaine yesterday, but since then you have to leave her alone? Right. Sounds as being a Master is not dependent on you...

All together: 2/5 -- sometimes the sum is less than the components. A visually compelling, somewhat grindy (I didn't realize you should go to fight in evenings for pretty amount of cash) mix. Honestly, I much prefer Man of the House -- that is still one of my favourites. Mystwood Manor is in the middle between this and MoftH, imo. Midnight Sin feels like made explicitly and mostly for money.

You can do like 3 things a day, rest of the time is clicking next hour/day, you can only interact with LI rarely, repeatable dialogues don't give you anything...
And it's a fully linear VN in a sandbox format, you're just waiting for the next scene with each LI to then unlock the next, etc
And after like 3 hours you havent done anything lewd except a couple boob peeks.. what a waste
