The post-production for Milfheim: The Twisted v0.1 is progressing smoothly.
As a solo developer, I’ve faced quite a few challenges.
Handling CG rendering, scene composition, and coding all by myself has been a cycle of learning and applying, learning and applying.
But thanks to that, things have gotten much smoother as development has gone on.
Naturally, as with anything—practice and repetition lead to improvement.
However, there’s one task I hadn’t fully anticipated—something that feels like an endless mission throughout the development process: writing the game’s scenario.
When I first decided to create this game, I had already set up the main characters and the overall story framework.
But I still struggle to decide exactly how the story should unfold.
To be more precise, every time I write dialogue, it feels as if the characters themselves are trying to break free from the story track I originally set for them.
It reminds me of an interview I once saw with a novelist, who said that the story he ended up writing was completely different from what he had planned—because the personalities of the characters kept changing the flow of the narrative.
I think scenario writing is the hardest part, especially for an adult visual novel, because the script itself also
needs to have erotic tension.
Just as a purely sexual scene without emotional buildup feels empty,
I believe that a forced twist or overly dramatic setup can easily ruin the game.
That’s why I constantly wrestle with the scenario—trying to find ways for the protagonist and the surrounding characters to build physical relationships naturally,
and to sustain the player’s excitement as the story progresses with each update.
Anyway, I truly hope that when the time comes, you’ll enjoy playing this game.
