In thread there are some ways to get the game started when problems with japanese games, I use locale remulator 64bit for Win 11 (run japanese Admin setting) and it works for this game:

Reading the update notes on DLSite, it seems unclear if the 1.07 update (or any of the prior updates) actually adds any new content, but rather just fixing some scenes which were missing from the recollection room.
So if you already did a playthrough you've seen everything already?

I only played until V. 1.04 and jumped to 1.07 now, so I can only say, that there is some extra scenes for the single stages (marked as "E" in Gallery) I didn ´t know before, but I got them with my old save, probably because I finished the game before and these extra scenes are just a bonus.

Yes, some new scenes, if you like the game I would recommend you get the 1.07 version, gallery shall be complete with old save.

I'm still convinced the update doesn't add any actual new content, but merely updates the reminiscence gallery to include existing content that you would otherwise see during a playthrough anyway.

No, the "-E" depth scenes are not encountered in the normal course of the game. They can only be seen in the gallery after completing the stage. They have their own "attack" scenes like you get in the course of a level.
