I live in Eastern Europe and our cultural upbringing here is opposite to that kind of behavior. First we don't break shit to blow off steam (unless you have anger issues), we were born in postapocalyptia (post socialism actually, but you can't make the difference) so in general we are poorer and bying new furniture is a bitch. Second, showing destructive emotions like this is a sign of a weakness in character in our society. If we wan't to blow off steam we either cry our shit on the shoulder of a trusty friend(getting drunk together also helps greatly), or we go and do some hard manual labor (kicking the gym, digging up the garden, run until you can't see straight etc.). I simply said that this is alien to me.
