I would like to. To have more scenes with Rakhnara Arakhnara. Arachne didn't have much time in the series. Especially with her playful personality.
And also with the character Dallakhan. She actually appeared at the very end of the series.

I've written some Rachnera scenes, which realeased to controversial reception on AO3! Ultimately, the controversy boiled down to the creative liberties I took with her character.

In the manga, she's given a dark past with trauma, but that trauma isn't reflected in her personality. She's still relatively happy and harmless, despite being a spider! So, I'm going dark with her character and I haven't decided what her redemption arc is eactly going to look like yet.

Most notably, I introduced her in my manuscript with a rape scene, and I like the way it turned it, so I'm planning to keep it. But she also has no problem killing people.

Though her darkness doesn't fit the overall tone of the story, her eventual redemption will.

After the end of her arc in manga, Mero concluded she is fine with just being happy. Perhaps she just got hornier.

Honestly, I suspect that conclusion is a result of the self-censoring of the source material. Though I believe Mero can find internal peace, I don't believe she can simply reason herself out of her cuckold fetish.

I will be leaning into her "cuck-queen" desires, however that is categorized in a harem context.

So right now there is no sexual content in game?

Right now, the game is effectively a prototype that I released for market feedback. (I'm learning how to develop.) My focus so far has been simply on making the game work, rather than including lots of content. The bathing scene with Miia is the most sexual scene currently available, though I still need to add background CGs for it.

Rest assured, sexual content is forthcoming and will be slathered on generously, without restraint. I'm remembering in particular the scene I wrote describing Centorea's viscuous grool...

I would be curious to see how you go around developing this game if youre gonna rely largely on fan and official artwork of the IP. There surely cannot be that many artwork lying around to build a whole game out of, and as a result much of the current build is just text screens over background.

Perhaps try using AI art. Loads of people dont like this option, but if developing your own artwork is not possible and funds do not permit hiring an artist, then you can at least try using AI rather than have most of the game be just walls of text.

There is a surprisingly large amount of fan art. Granted, it's not always going to fit my narrative and I haven't grappled with all of my options in those cases. I'm leaning towards using character sprites, rather than full-blown background CGs, as that's what I've seen commercial visual novels do. (I'm thinking of Muv-Luv in particular.)

Though I'm open to AI art in general, I skeptical that it can accurately produce pre-existing character designs. I don't have the most experience with Stable Diffusion, but my understanding is that I'd have to train my own Lora. Which I haven't learned how to do yet.

Plus, most people hate AI art anyway. So character sprites might produce a better product and require less effort. Not sure...

Yeah, got to agree with others and say the manga has been getting worse. I really dislike how it’s went from “These girls will get deported and you’ll be arrested if you touch them wrong” to “Everyone but you is banging”.

While I get not doing much with Pol (pretty sure she has a husband now on the story) but are you gonna do anything with Kii?

Tension in this game will take the form of "jealousy," specifically some girls don't like it when you're intimate with other girls. Since it's a harem, all of the girls are yours and it's free game, so it's not NTR in the classic sense of the word. The distinction is that Mero likes being cucked and won't become jealous. So that seems like more of a gray area...

I intentionally exclued Kii from my manuscript when I was writing, but I do believe she is a good fit for the game. I will be including her, so hopefully I can find good sprites somewhere.

The project is clearly at the start but I like your plans. And it's a good series to take inspiration from.

Worst hypothesis, if you're OK with it, temporary AI are an option. I bet you can find a lot of models trained on Monster Musume.

Good call on deciding the fetishes right at the start. A few of them are rather divisive.

I need to plan for species-unique pregnancy mechanics.

Centorea and Lala are probably easy: knock'er up, she says "I'm pregnant!", grows a belly, eventually the child is born. So it's all about tracking the pregnancy stage, and dialogue/assets to be used depending on it.
I guess for Papi you could have her laying eggs periodically, but she'd instinctively know if one is fertilised. Then her "pregnancy" is instead taking care of the egg until it hatches.
Miia could be handled either, some snakes give live birtth.
The trick would be Rachnera, Mero, and specially Suu. Do slime eggs even make sense?

Well, I've written some of this into the manuscript with no thought of how it will translate into the game. But currently, I have Miia giving live birth and Rachnera laying egg sacs.

My instinct is that mermaids should lay eggs, just like fish. But they'll need to be larger than fish eggs.

Papi lays eggs routinely, fertilized or not. So her eggs require incubation to determine if they will hatch.

And Suu... replicates?

As for rape? for some reason the English localization leaned into that when the original Japanese dialog doesn't.

The rape thing is a bit nuanced. She doesn't view it as rape because she doesn't truly understand the concept of consent, due to her trauma. She views the world from the perspective of power structures. I simply used the word as shorthand.

Unfortunately, her character generally isn't very concrete. She's often portrayed differently and usually at surface level.

I agree with the killing. It's always when provoked, though her animal instincts do cause her to enjoy more than she should.

And yet it’s still kinda hard to see her doing that. Thru out the manga I’m pretty sure she never directly hurts anyone on purpose. Even when Honey is accosted and Centorea is about to be molested all she did was scary them. Remember Rachnera is the most reliable and responsible of the group.
