More adult games should embrace voice acting.

I heard that CV actress in Japan is a very well paid position. They usually are more expensive then programmers and artists.

I find both voice acting and smooth animations almost always sticking out like a sore thumb. it also tends to instantly lose any illusion of free choice as it means whatever was recorded is immutable and you're just railroaded forward until the recording ends. like a cutscene.

could work in a kinetic novel though as interaction is not available.

Ugh, voice acting in adult games can be SO cringe. Yes it can be good, Snow Daze as someone mentioned. But it's usually always bad. If anyone does decide to do it they should first finish their game and script, along with actually paying someone for a good performance. No voice acting is better than bad voice acting. And the same goes for animations!

I would argue that not including voice acting can make a game more immersive as it invites the player to imagine what a character might sound like for themselves, leaving them slightly more mentally invested in each character that's introduced.

Voice acting, when done well, can help a game. But it's a terrible idea for most developers that pop up on this forum, since the majority of them are solo developers, and their projects are usually their first. In order to make voice acting worth it, you would need more of a studio development team, and your projects is going to have to be on an actual pay site. Something where production value is required to compete.

More images>more sound acting. Pictures leave a lot for imagination, but sound... limits it I guess?

It only requires a few seconds of voice sampling to create an artificial voice.

Famous people aren't happy about hearing their voice being used, but because the voice is being created electronically, there isn't much they can do about it.

Problem with that though. I don't think you will get a electronically created voice to portray emotions. It wouldn't sound right.

Thats not the point here, its not like this would competete against real Voice-Actors.

My game is not overly dialogued like others, yet 5 updates and its 27,000 words according to notepad plus. A voice actor advertised on here, 15 cents a word, I'd be up for 4 grand so far.
:ROFLMAO: Sorry, I read this and had a vision of some cheap ass developer hiring a voice actor to only say the really sexy words and not the entire line.

Jane '" I can't believe my son's [VOICE ACTOR: DICK!] is so [VOICE ACTOR: BIG]. I just have to have it [VOICE ACTOR: INSIDE ME!]."'

I agree with what seems to be the majority opinion - completely voiced games aren't good/worth it. But I understand the appeal of certain voiced bit. Hell in Wargroove (I know that's not an adult game, doesn't matter) I like the rare sounds the characters make. It brings them to life a bit.

I included something similar in my game and it seems to pass mustard. Girl sounds during the naughty scenes. There's no words it's just moans and sighs and shit like that. So far the players seem to like it. But I have no intention of ever having the girls voice the rest of the game.

Of course Voice Acting is welcome in a NSFW game... Even in any SFW game (any solo developer without funding will suffer to get voice acting, that and good professional translations is the thing that no matter what is gonna cost you good money.

But for most of NSFW games one can see around here, I'll start asking just for sound or music...

Voice acting... Aka one of the most overpriced thing.

its not like everybody have good friends that will accept to do some voice acting. the price is really high.
adding to that the "fact" that you need the material to record it, and not shitty material... or you canalways rent a studio.. wich boost the price even more higher.

meh.. voice acting is probably the extremly last thing a dev should add in his game, unless he got around 30K/months or revenues....

Voice Acting makes the game definitely better but it also costs a huge amount of money.
So most developers can't afford them.

Actually, I found complete voice acting usually pretty annoying. I like reading quickly, so I always end up interrupting the "voice" and it's distracting.

Partial voice acting, however, is awesome. A few sound to gave more life to dialog (exclamation, laugh, growl...) and a few line voiced for the important parts. (Make them feel even more important and a little bit like a reward.)

must keep in mind too, that most peoples who play this kind of game (porn game) generaly play without sound at all.
i myself rarely play with sound. not that i like music or voices... but alots of times, they doesnt fit well in the mood of the game or the scenes.
also like mentionned, sometime they slow the reading, soo you end up skipping most of the voice because you already read all the text :D

Ah, it's true that I do play without sound at all too, sometimes. But not that often. Is that really a common things to play without it? (I'm curious.)

i cant say precisly...
but i know alots of peoples who play theses games without sound. (mostly because music is super loud or very repetitive XD. But they are also because some play during night, some others play with "discretion", sometime at work.. etc...)

i dont know if its common... but i know for sure some peoples do it.

I always turn it off even when it does exist. Especially English voice overs tend to be massively cringe for me since I need some ironic distance between me and degenerate porn to enjoy it, and hearing a real person just tends to drive home the absurdity of what's going on.
