And by that I meant taking a trip to Japan and visiting the man himself (or what's left of him).
If I even remember, I may travel there when I visit my family in Osaka and check the hyousatsu just to see if it matches. I won't actually knock on their door or ask the schools about them though lol, that's just weird

Think this through man, most of us just want to move on. You can give us closure.
Yeah.. there's no way I'm divulging their place of work information, I can't trust internet weirdos. Since that address is public, that's really the only thing I'm fine with confirming.

Of course I really want to find out what's going on too; and if they really are there, idk.. I'll definitely have to buy them a really nice gift. Would also help as a sort of icebreaker so that maybe they won't be worried as much. I mean IF I do this, I'm going to do everything I can to show that I have no bad intentions. Even still, this whole thing would be extremely weird as I'm just a complete stranger that got their residence from the internet.. but anyway, whether I'm given their time or not, I'll just urge that they keep the gift and request as politely as possible that they consider giving an update to everyone.

And this is all a big maybe. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's unlikely he is still alive. He disappeared on the height of the pandemic.
That thought has crossed my mind as well, and it is a very likely explanation, his health was pretty bad before that as well.
Though, if that was indeed the case, I would've expected some official announcement from Skyrockets or Mu Soft about a cancellation or indefinite hiatus. This is all just very mysterious...

Seems it's not just us waiting on this dead game.
Never thought someone else is actually waiting for this game. Originally first learned of this game in Hongfire.
I even forgot their previous game title. Dug deep enough into my brain to finally bring up the keyword "hizashi" + "skyrocket" and it finally came up in Google, which lead me here.
This really made me think about stuff that you think about, be it a business idea that you think is innovative, or practically anything, aren't just really you alone.

Okay I know now that I'll definitely be in Kyoto for a bit so I might as well check it out.
I'll be there about a month from now, so I'll probably post an update sometime around then too.

Also, if anyone has good gift ideas let me know. I'm mainly considering some kind of souvenir from America but any ideas are welcome.

Hmm, maybe consider something a little more neutral/international? Who knows, maybe he'll scream GO HOME YANKEE! before you'll have a chance to say anything.

Haha that'd be a very unlucky first for meー but maybe I used the wrong word there. I don't mean like something that represents or symbolizes America; just something not available in Japan for the uniqueness aspect, something they'll think is rare and cool. I want them to use or even just think about the gift often because if they're still reluctant to give an update to everyone after I'm gone, it will act as a constant reminder of our meeting and the request for all the fans. This might gradually influence them over time.

I see. I'm sorry that I can't be much of help. Honestly nothing comes to my mind that would make a good gift in this situation. Something cool, rare, not common in Japan and it needs to appeal to a person we don't know much about. Tough shopping list to be honest.

All we have to do is revive the Toru in disguise guy and ask what kind of gift they'd like.

Man, I don't know. A statuette? Something nice to put on your desk? Maybe custom made in reference to Musoft or Otome. If so, maybe it shouldn't include INO's art, his mailbox is probably full of those already.

I break my wrist and come back months later to someone unironically saying they're gonna go investigate what happened to toru in person? Well, shit, take my energy. If anything is capable of keeping me from clicking on the bookmark to the thread any more, it's closure lmao

Was it ever alive to begin with? It was in development hell for many years before the dev vanished, and their label/publisher never addressed it.

Hey guys sorry for the wait, you see I was taken hostage but I managed to escape...

Ok really, I did go to visit the elusive "mu soft office." I checked 2 possible addresses because the way it's shown was not very clear. Neither of the name plates matched, but I decided to ring the one that was most likely correct not expecting anything but someone actually answered.

It was a young woman that came out to greet me. I asked her if he lives here, but she said no and that she doesn't know him. I just explained that I was trying to find an old friend and wasn't sure if the address I had was correct or outdated. She pulled out her phone to check with her own map and I told her the address. I told her a couple times and even showed it to her just to be sure (I had to read it for her because it's in English); and after a while, she said "oh, it's true" to this supposedly being the right address. She explained to me that she was a sort of gardener and that this wasn't really a house but a business place which made sense to me if it was previously mu soft office. At this point I just thought he was a previous tenant and moved somewhere. Thankfully this interaction didn't ever get awkward, after talking a while I just thanked her and decided to give the gifts I brought with me to her since she was super nice the whole time. (I brought a bunch of sweets and a sexy figure btw, and no I didn't give her the figure lol I kept that hidden)

I was expecting office mu soft to be at least a house or building, but it was after I already left Kyoto when I found out this address wasn't right, and the 100% correct address after doing more research. I remember walking right past it... it had no name or sign or anything on it... office mu soft is actually a very old, rundown micro one room apartment. The building is for men only and uses a shared bathroom. Yeah so, unless he's moved on to better conditions and things and just hasn't looked back at mu soft, I have a feeling he's most likely passed...

Unless someone else decides to go there before me, I'll have to properly confirm if he's there or not whenever I'm back in the area because that was quite frustrating to find out lol. Of course, I'll make sure to post here again if I do.

tldr: mission failed, we'll get 'em next time

might actualy be imprisoned or something. all of these things dont add up, especialy if his adress is a rotten one room dorm. someone said hes a teacher? doubt that. salary office drone seems more likely.

I had returned to check on the latest discussion of this game. Someone share Hizashi on some other site and that pique my interest about them again. Man how long was it again since the initial announcement?
There really no other circle make game like mu soft since then, though eroflashfrontier came close.

Lol this is really interesting, funny and a bit sad at the same time.
If anything, I'm just entertained by this unraveling urban legend. A follow-up on the other addres one day will be much appreciated, though I don't expect anything to really come of it.

Another possible rabbithole to check could be the artist Ino, as they're still active but it's doubtful that they were that involved and know the fate of the game or the devs.

Lastly I was going to suggest SkyRockets as well, as I thought they were responsible for publishing - but checking it now, turns out their site is defunct :illuminati:
