Ren'Py - My Brother's Wife [v0.12] [Beanie Guy Studio]

In the beginning, it looked like it had potential.
Years later and we're still waiting for it.

The premise is great: a young man goes to live with his brother and sister-in-law. Those don't have the best married couple life, so a good start for a netori game was there.
Playing this as someone looking for immersion wasn't a great experience. There is barely any choice that feels rewarding or that could be exactly what I would want to have done.
After all this time, I don't even feel like progress has been made. Of course, there are a few in-game days. But if that is going to be the argument, we could just add a few time skips. That is a game and not real life, are you expecting me to play the equivalent of six months to see some progress?

And no, I don't even think, regarding in-game days, we should be near penetration scenes yet.
But the little things that could be adding to a buildup don't seem to be there.
The ones we got are basically just the cliché ones.

And the side characters, mostly added just to give at least some action to the game, aren't being used in a way I could call satisfactory.
-The neighbor (Diana or smth) appears basically for a BJ, which is great, but the MC is too passive and just stays there like nothing is happening, basically.
-The sis-in-law's friend (Bella?) appears to have some kisses, a HJ and something else later that I don't even remember. It could be great, but ended up not even memorable. Especially, not even getting a BJ in the pool scene.

-The MC's friend, appears to finally give you some true action. She is initially very sweet but was badly implemented. And the idea of having the MC WITH HIS BROTHER in the pool was in bad taste to me. All the possible interactions with Jen in the pool do not make up for having to get Justine naked/breasts exposed in front of your stupid brother. Even less her kissing him. You don't even get anything with Jen worth of that, to me (to my tastes). At least you do have some alone time with her later, but by that point, I didn't care anymore.

That's totally not NTR, but it feels too much unrewarding to have your brother together in most of the scenes, basically all night. At least he could have been called to work or whatever. It just feels out of place and unnecessary, you know?

One last worry is that, regarding all those wife love, hate, brother love, hate, enemy points and whatever... it may be getting to a point in which they are more blocking options that you SHOULD see, rather than giving you an actual unique playthrough. I mean this in the sense of you choosing an action not because it makes sense to your MC, but rather because otherwise it would be getting some brother/wife points you don't want. That seems to be what the DEV wants, but I find it to be just annoying.


Overall:

Animations:In the end, the few sex scenes we got were mid, average. Decent at best.
Image quality/posing/etc: Some renders are actually good, but not much by today standards.
Music/SFX: I don't really care for the music, I mostly always mute because I don't usually like those same songs being reused/bad sons being chosen. So I can't say much in that regard.
Story: not the worst as in the overall plot, just don't deliver much.
Gameplay/progression: the worst aspect. I don't feel like my time spent in the game is rewarded or fun.

I'm adding to ignore list right now. Maybe in a few years I might remember it and come back to check what became of it.
Maybe my grandchildren may play the full version of this, together with HL3.

This is a really nice game, The brother's wife is hot in a next door hot neighbor kind of way. It is a slow burn AVN so I get why some people don't enjoy it as much as I do. For those who have issues with the fonts - just download the mod that fixes them and you'll be able to read without any problems.

I cannot give this more than 2 stars rating despise this game having a strong plot fondations and interesting character.
Because this is a silent watcher simulator, nothing happens!!!
Its like if you were a shadow bound to only read text for eternity, you get no piece of the action! The brother do get some but after all this developpement, I think its time to give me us a little something.

One of the most draggy and worse corruption game ever. The renders are above average, the animations are nothing but 2-3 renders on loop, Storyline is one of the most used and cliched shit in AVNs and to make it worse it is extremely draggy.

My Brother's Wife is accurate name for the game. 3 years of development and husband is the only one who fucks his wife. When MC in the meantime didnt fucked even one side charachter and only wandering around the house and creep on sister in law like voyeur loser. Its not a porn game, its hardly even adult game, its more like cockblocking simulator which pretends to look like slowburn.

One thing is good is that this dev have so little supporters, Looks like even simps have standarts and enough self respect to not pay this dev for this frustration of a game.

Very very slow progress in this game and isn't even a enjoyable progress, the only sex scenes present in the game are NTR ones disguised as technically isn't NTR, were mc brother keeps fucking the wife while mc watch and gets jealous or not watch but they still fuck and he still get jealous, the bff is trash, the brother is trash and mc isn't that much better, if you want to see other's that aren't the mc fucking(unavoidable) this is a game for you if you don't want other's fucking your LI' or future LI this isn't a game for you. Mc doesn't even seem to be the mc of this game, that's how ignored any progression of him his, he seems more of spectator than the actual mc.
All in all the game don't deliver what promise, hides behind "technically" to not get certain tags and maybe with luck in 2050 mc will have sex and the game has any decent progression by then.

I endured this thing up to the point of bella's "advises" to jennifer. the"wife" and I took a break because I felt the need to smash my screen. for real.

zero sex scenes besides the "ntr" scene( author marked it like that, not me and it is optional/still happens).

sometimes I as the player felt like a guest to the game. it felt like it wasnt the MC's game, but everybody else's game.
what on earth do the devs think some times?

the relationship between the protagonists is maturing organicaly. the problem is, that it matures in REAL LIFE TIME!
by the time the joke of MC will have something with the "wife" she will be pregnant by her husband because they obviously fuck like rabbits and somehow for some reason, the MC who felt jealous ( yeah its in the game), has to see it ALL. but DUH, this "technicaly aint NTR because -insert bullshit reason here-"
-but oh wait...he can close his eyes and go "la la la" because you know..optional/but still haaaappeeeens

game wise the game has some good points and some bad points.

good points are certaintly its renders. very good work and although not top notch, they sure have been worked with love.
the models are above average and again the dev has shown attention to detail so you wont see many clippings or the generic positioning mistakes you may have seen in other works.
also animations are descent, not something to write home about, but effort has been made and its obvious
the story in general terms is very interesting but I couldnt feel it. all I got so far was a bitter taste plus what I posted above. I didnt like it not because of the story per se, but because of how it is presented.

one bad point that certaintly bothered me was the colored text. dev please, keep it simple and easy to read. deep purple text? dark blue? come on man.
options. give options. try to play the game as a player and not as a dev, that would be the only way to understand the changes you might need .

dev could have kept out any and all controversial scenes ( plotwise they were pointless), could have given more options, could have made an mc with balls and not a lapdog. and he could have executed the story progression better in general, cause the plot is there and it is interesting.

anyway. I must be fair. it is too early in development and it might be better in the future so I will keep an eye on it, but it will propably be way way way in the future before I try this again.

now that I had my dose of scotch I will continue to finish this update and hope that I was wrong in my rating

Edit: I wasnt. please, play your game dev. not as a dev to spot bugs or fix the text. but as a player. grasp the whole picture of it at least up to where it is right now. and if you think everything is ok, then cool. I tap out.

This is the first time I've ever played a game with very poor English, and still been captured by the story. The author is not an English speaker, but creates scenes in such an intuitive way, with great renders, that it's easy to be taken in by the sexual tension and titillating situations. I personally love it, though I agree with others that it is a slow burn and does not yet have enough content to make it good fap material. But it's a good appetizer. I was hard 60% of the time that I played this game, and then I just went and jerked off to something else with more explicit scenes when I was done the content. Great orgasm due mostly to the build up from this game. Once it gets more sex, it's going to be mind blowing.

For f@cks sake, this is so lame. So much text/talking. Please just Shut The F@ck Up already. Even with the points cheat/mod, I find myself just full on, fast forwarding. The renders are pretty decent so I gave it an extra star for that alone, but otherwise, this is just a story that meanders aimlessly. Get on with turning her into a bimbo already.

Oh, and for the love of God, please, please, please, USE A LIGHTER COLOR FOR THE TEXT!!!!!!!!!!!! We can't even read half of the damn story.

Slow burn warning, but it is a very fun and entertaining game. Love the characters and the base storyline. Not nearly as generic as the majority of stories here.

Graphics are solid and the limited animations are good. Not a ton of action, but a lot of setup, hence the slow burn.

Easiest 5 stars i have ever given a game! The writing is spot on, the story is original in its on way, the characters are unique and the adult scenes are spot on. The art in the adult scenes have ghood lightning as well as length. Of course the MC has the largest johnson but that is to be expected. The developer also was wise enough to draw in red head fetish but throw in black hair and brunette, not what you find in most red games.

Keep in mind I like this game , it's an enjoyable premise, but that's all it's been for years: a premise. I feel like I've been playing the longest prologue known to man, because you barely actually do anything with your sister-in-law.

You make plenty of choices that make the characters feel believable, sure, but you'd expect a NSFW game to let me see some bloody sex. Even if it's cliche, I feel like a drunk escapade that grows into some form of sexual and/or romantic relationship would work so much better than whatever's going on in this game, the pacing of which is akin to some telenovella or TV drama that doesn't have the balls to actually do what it's been teasing until the finale of the season.

I mean it's absurd that in a porn game about stealing your brother's wife, there are more sex scenes with the sister-in-law and your brother than you with the sister-in-law. I mean what the fuck is going on.

While the characters is what brings me back to check once in a while...with how slow the story moves, I've given up on it. The brother is such a massive dick that I'm waiting for him to get f**ked but this is taking so long its infuriating.

Review v.08

After nearly 2 years and 8 updates, nothing worth mentioning has happened.

The game started interesting, but it moves at an absolut glacial pace. Still at day8, still doing chores like laundry, pool cleaning or mowing the lawn...
The high point in the relation with the 'wife' is making out shortly while she was drunk as a skunk, not sure if she even remembers any of that.

The last 2 updates spend a lot of time on side characters like the friend of the wife or the older neighbour in the current update, which slows down the already glacial progress even more.

There is no story, it's a slice of life which puts emphasis on all the mundane aspects, like doing chores, breakfast, watching tv etc...or in other words it's repetitive, boring and nothing interesting happens.

Well, visually this game looks fantastic. Writing wise I docked it a star although personally I felt i should have docked it 2. Why you ask? Well its quite obvious that English is not the dev's language. While you can get the gist of what is being written it does not always come through smoothly. The other thing I noted was in one conversation I was addressed as Cole by the wife. Later it ceased to be the chosen name and became strictly player this player that in every conversation.

I also see that this is going to be a slow burn game sexually as well. No sex in this version so far (0.7 at time of review) so give this one a pass for another 10 or so updates and then check back. So far the wife and her friend Bella are the only 2 females that come close to having any content. The one character that wants to do something with the player hasn't recieved any more content since she offered to make the player her personal cabana boy. Then there was the hotty on the roadside. That went flat quick. So as I said this needs a lot of updates before it gets sexual. This at this point is just a bunch of teasing with no real pleasing. Although I do find it to be a pleasing prospect of cucking that asshole of a brother.

I usually wait for the "7th update" or whatever but I got bored and tried this out. Mostly knowing it wouldn't be my thing. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, per se, but I don't like it. And the rating would be a middle of the road three stars, but I've made the decision to deduct one star from my rating if they have the default RenPy UI. The funny thing is, not only is it default. But the Dev edited the UI a little bit only to break it? It's kinda hilarious, really. I do like the slow burn, and think the dream and strip club scenes were shoehorned in to keep the horny fans interested.

You play as MC, a kid just out of a high school(?) in Switzerland. Your parents died and your brother "takes care" of you. Sending you off to school somewhere else and is completely irked by your existence when you return. Then when you get back, you meet his wife that he neglects and is a general asshole to all the time. And the story is pretty much just that. I will say I'm glad it's a little different from the story every other game here has. But it's a lot of the boring day to day stuff with a wife who's slightly unhappy and you, the turbo virgin that, let's be honest, even if you do end up with the woman, you spirited her away from her marriage and that's not good for trust.

It's very short so far. And the writing is another thing that brings it down. There's a bunch of grammar errors but feels like they try to make it sound smarter with some sprinkled in 3 and 4 syllable Harvard "words of the day." Then act like they didn't completely bugger up that last sentence.

My two cents: Spend an hour or two to do SOMETHING with the UI. All it takes is replacing picture files. And get some proofreading done, or read the sentences aloud to yourself slowly. But the story's not my cup of tea so I don't know if I'll follow this one up later.

There are some complaints that it's a slow burn.. but the title is 'My Brother's Wife' and unless you want the game to end quickly I think it kinda has to be that way. Good graphics and gotta say love the wife's model. Good story.. Maybe to satisfy the impatient early action should hit on brother's secretary.. MILF of the neighborhood.. and/or the brother's wife's best friend. But with that being said I really think as this one progresses it will continue to grow the fanbase it has. A 5 out of 5 from me due to the simple fact every time I see this one pop up on 'Latest Updates' I can't wait to see what's new.

It is an exciting game. The idea is really nice. But only problem is it is more of a "no sexual content" game as in till version 6. The dev is slowly bringing the mc and the sister in law closer with every update. I liked this type of game but if you are looking for fap items, donot play this game. You are warned

Pretty good game so far. And it isn't rushed. I prefer a bit of a slow burn. Not too slow, but I don't like it when the MC and the object of his affection get it on in a very short time span. I, for one, like the build up as well as the follow through.
