Supposedly by end of June? I'm hoping he doesn't push back the schedule much further, and the update is going to be nice and meaty. Its been over six months, and I get that he was plagued with setbacks because of the RUS/UKR crisis, but if we get a paltry update I might have to reconsider my monthly contributions.

First of all the game is not really finished. People get confused by the whole "version 1.0" stuff, since on this site it often indicates a "finished" product. So Katie stopping texting and mom doing nothing else is how it is sofar.

Second. Yeah Questlog would be somehow nice, however you are never supposed to go for ALL girls in one run. It is no harem game. At most you can get 3 girls (+Katie, since it's texting at night) in ver. 1.0. But you are only supposed to go for 1 or maybe 2 girls in one run (since this is how the author wants it).

Last update was in May, pushing for an end of June release.

(Update)

as of today's statement, the likelihood is 29th of June for release.
Thanks for sharing this information! I was wondering if behind deserved paywall there is something mentioned about that.

The post says the images will be submitted by the artist by then. Judging by the rate the work is moving at, I'd say probably mid-July

Isn't coding complete, and all he has to do is plug in the pics?

I want to be optimisitic, but his wording is that the illustrator would "have everything ready by the 29th", presumably in reference to a conversation between Kyle and the artist. Seems unlikely that the release would happen literally at the earliest date that the illustrator is promising to have the images ready by.

Public post on patreon: Personal hopes are up for a realease around 30th or 1st.
The wording is pretty open-ended. If he was confident he could have it done by the 30th or 1st, he would've said as much. I'm thinking likely by the end of the first week of July. The pessimist in me thinks mid-July. I really hope theres a decent amount of content though. I'd be supremely disappointed if his schedule will be trickle feeding content, especially considering the length of time we've gone without an update.

What is the difference between 1.5 and 2.0? Is the next update includings part of chapter 2 or is it just about the first chapter?

Regardless, two years for this low amount of content isn't worth for a game that may provide some decent entertainment for one afternoon. I'd pay 10-20 bucks for this kind of quality that the end product could offer. But surely not donating monthly for years, when it isn't even known when and if the product finished. In four years, in six years, or is it going to be abandoned?

but if we get a paltry update I might have to reconsider my monthly contributions.
I assume none of the patreons care about the few bucks (or they wouldn't donate them), though the developer is given a sign that the work ethic is accepted. Which is why I can never truly complain about the developer in those cases, they are enabled by others.

The way it seems to be structured is that there's 2 scenes (roughly, and Mia is an exception already, but she's the titular GF so that's expected) per girl per chapter. With relationship building to one scene, then continuation of that relationship building to the end of the chapter, with the other scene as a culmination. So I imagine we'll get to a cliffhanger story wise at the end of 1.5 before we get to 2. Kyle wants every girl to be viable story wise, so all the content to that point in the timeline must be done for all routes.
Kyle's main problem seems to be more getting the art assets finished with that design philosophy. He's even hired on an additional artist. I do quite like the art style, so I don't think he should change artists. Maybe bring them in fully into the game and revenue share instead of commisioning freelance style. So they feel more motivated perhaps.

Which is a genuinely terrible approach, given his resources. He doesn't need to concentrate on a single route until it's done; he can just work on a character until whatever arbitrary point he'd ordinarily use as the cutoff has been reached then release it as its own update. He could even have meaningful version numbers, with 2.1.3 being the third character released for the first part of the second chapter.

This is actually a horrible idea. That actively contradicts the rules of Semantic Versioning. Those numbers go by a specific language across all of coding. Not arbitrary meanings on a program-by-program basis. And for good reason. If they had case-by-case meaning, they'd just become so vague as to become meaningless and no point to keeping them around.

In Semantic Versioning, the first number refers to core program changes. Basically overhauls of existing parts of code or massive expansion of code. The second number refers to smaller changes/additions to the program. Anything smaller than what would completely change core functionality. The third and final number is basically just for bugfixes, added localizations, changing settings/options, fixing typos, and other tiny things.

Any coder who isn't self taught would look at "2.1.3" and read:

"This program is finished, has undergone 1 core overhaul or core expansion since completion, 1 small change since that core overhaul/expansion, and 3 patches since that small change."

Two things.

First, this is simply not true. Semantic Versioning is widespread, but not universal, and there are multiple version schemes out there. Game development, especially indie game development, often goes with "big.medium.small" updates as a general scheme. You can argue this is a result of indie programmers being self-taught, but it has spread, and it's still totally useful as a marker for milestones in a project.

Second, Kyle is already deviating heavily with his versioning scheme. He pretty much just increments the version number by 0.25 whenever he makes a big update, with "1.0" not representing a completed game, but instead the completion of chapter 1 (so pretty much in line with the above suggestion). You may criticize that decision, but it's already the status quo.

Hey guys I've been absolutely insanely busy in all parts of my life these past several days.
But I'm here to tell you what you want to hear, even if it's super late(Sorry). Chapter 1.5
is now finished and all that's left to do is debugging, which I will spend tomorrow doing.
So unless God himself strikes me down the game WILL be released by the end of tomorrow. High Tier Patrons will get it first as always.
Thank you so much as always for the incredible support that keeps this game's life going. You're all Kings.
-Kyle
At least it isn't delayed any longer.
