RPGM - My New Life: Revamp [v0.98.6] [Beggar of Net]

I was debating with myself on whether or not to play this "Revamped" version to begin with. Being a fan of the previous version, like many I felt as though BON should've finished his work on the original project.

The 2.1 version wasn't pretty and had it's cons but I enjoyed it, I enjoyed the characters the way they were, I enjoyed the story the way it was. I'm not a fan of Devs who feel they need to cater to some just because money is involved (Not saying that's the case here), stick to your guns and go with your original plans.

I played this "Revamp" version because I'd already spent so much time and effort on the previous versions that I owed it to myself to see the new direction or lack thereof of this "Revamp".

This game initially had a Cheesy, some times corny but lighthearted tone to it which I enjoyed. Now apparently BON is looking for more shock value and want more of a dark tone in this "Revamp" which is just sad.

The new version is dead in terms of freedom and the ability to roam and do whatever in the city whenever. Now it's just like "Stick to the storyline and you'll be fine". There's still plenty of bugs and will continue to be, so this "Revamp" just wasn't a good idea at least not at this moment.

Don't get me started on the new personalities of the characters. Beta male Mike, Bitchy Sarah, even bitchier Amy. It's just... I feel if it ain't broke don't fix it. Sarah seems dumber now then the original game which means... Yayyy... more NTR opportunities.

Now poor Mike is going to spend more and more time having to make sure that Sarah doesn't fuck any and every guy who come her way with Tinymon cards, because apparently she's now too stupid to see that for herself. The character Sarah suffers the most in this "Revamp" she's now at the mercy of Mike saving her from becoming a total slut.

There's alot more I could say on this but my peers probably have already said it on this site. So all in all I'll probably not play this game for like a year or so (If it's still around), I'll let the content build up like I normally do and see what's BON real direction for this game.

Well, I really liked this game and played it since 2017, even before I joined this forum. I'm not going to rant too much, because this is still an alpha, but there are a few things to note from this revamped version.

Most of it is fine to me, the grinding isn't an issue, the city is dead, but it's to be expected from a revamped alpha. It's probably a wise thing to do, to avoid future bugs. But thare are some things that just make you shake your head, like the new beta male MC personality, or Sarah's revamped path...

Other people already talked about it, so I'm not going to focus on it, but I'm really disappointed, especially with Sarah's changes.

In the previous version, it was almost impossible to play the game without a walkthrough or coming to the forums to look for answers. Something needed to be done to make the game more intuitive. BoN did something.

The problem is that he made the game completely on rails, while you have absolutely no freedom and the open world rpg is a completely useless aspect in this game. It holds your hands for everything, you can't interact with anyone unless the game wants you to. This would've been fine if he converted the game to Ren'py, because with an overworld map, all the tedious walking would be gone and we would just focus in the story progression.

Also the music needs to be fixed, because even at 20%, I had to mute my headset everytime Sarah started dancing. And for the love of god, please change the sex sounds. It was one the most important things that needed to be changed! Here's a news flash: GIRLS CAN'T SPEAK WHILE HAVING A DICK DOWN THEIR THROATS. Not only that, but you have this cringy hentai moaning, mixed with another girl moaning, while having sex with ONE girl.

I think BoN shot himself on the foot here, because the idea of the revamp was great. He remade a lot of things, to make more sense and I loved that. But changing the core gameplay aspect of the game was too far and just the fact that you can't choose a girl and go straight to her path anymore, is really annoying. You have no freedom, you have to fuck everybody, even if you don't like the character.

you can not redo a game that you have not finished, that to begin with, second, this remake or whatever it is, is bad, but bad bad bad, you have no goal beyond going to school and going to the gym. after school, you have a dead city to explore, you can not talk to anyone, the topic of relationships in school is ridiculous, when you start the first days in this shit, the game takes you on a path in which random events take place, like groping laura, see amy sucking dick and Maria come to see what happens, right after fucking with the father, or sarah angry but 1 minute later everything is fine ... I have the feeling that the creator of the game is laughing at all of us. The music is unbearable, every time you talk to someone they give you repetitive music, even when the game tries to be erotic and sexual, you have the damn music playing, I do not know about you but far from putting my hard cock, it turns soft. I will not even go into the issue of bugs, because the number of bugs I've seen give for at least two hours writing

I see a lot of future for this version, at least it includes an ingame bugfixer, but the only bad thing i see, is that the story is now linear.
But this review is for 0.001.3 alpha, so i guess in a couple of months the game will be better.

It's been 6 years and still the same, lol.

Now that I finished the Revamp (I guess, because the game didn't tell me that...), I fear I have to add a few cons:

Positives:

+ better music in many cases on the maps and the maps themselvers are nicer. Especially the school is nice.
+ better animations and graphics of the scenes it seems
+ the intercourse UI is better although it might be more engaging than earlier ones but more flexible as well
+ the school intro story is nice and the characters fall neatly into the classic dynamics we've come to know and love
+ I like the new characters (asian and muslim schoolmate as well as the janitor) and the maid. I look forward to content with all of them as well as more from Alex for example
+ I really like the visual remake of Jason's mom. She is really hot now and I look forward to content with her

Negatives:
- a skip option to the memory gallery would've been nice as I accidentally misclicked onto the school intro one and that was quite annoying
- Amy was already pretty bitchy and unlikable and therefore unnecessary IMO to make her more unlikable at the start...
- Sarah being so annoying and ditsy at the start was unnecessary. If they're twins as suggested BoN could've gone with the bond they have as twins and not this mess. This definitely needs a rewrite IMO BADLY
- my overall gripe is that it seems to become quickly more dark than the older versions which I don't think was a wise choice. I liked the light hearted aspect of it with the occasional serious parts. BoN should consider going back to that, if he can at this point
- The purpose of the revamp was to make the game less grindy but Sarah's quest line in the original version was unique in every mission. Now it's fetch package and give tinymon card x 15. That is a massive downgrade and does the character of Sarah absolute injustice. BoN needs to fix that on the double. They're twins and that storyarc represented to is really really bad.
- the game appears also now longer than it actually is as in the original version you were able to pursue girls mostly parallel from each other and not necessarily needing to engage in a relationship with them. Now the school characters seem to be supposed to all tied in one big school conspiracy questline that is (says it in the name questLINE) absolutely linear. In some cases it works fine as introduction to the characters like Charles and Jason that have also funny extra scenes where the MC only after helping Charles getting laid realizes he needed his virgin sperm (which makes him a bit more silly than he used to be but I'll let it slide once for comedic purpose)
- which goes into the next negative: even though the MC has gotten all the brains and his sister 0 it seems in this version, it still is not as much as it used to be.


Overall I'm giving it 2/5 stars as many things on the surface changed for the better but certain character choices and overall story choices I don't really agree with and liked the older version on that end more. Also the linearity although sometimes okay needs to go away and the Sarah storypath improved heavily. She is one of the main characters that you can't avoid if you want to proceed in the game and was in the original version hyped like crazy. Give her the revamp she ACTUALLY deserves BoN! Also obsessive linearity makes me think that maybe RPG Maker is not the right platform. RPGM Games excel generally on world exploration, open puzzles and parallel storylines. Now that most of those are gone, why have RPGM now? BoN needs to bring back more parallel missions with the next updates. (And really PLEASE fix Sarah!)

Reviewing the Revamp v0.0001 Alpha

Story: Same as Ver2.1, just more focus on the mob/mafia/ganster/gangs plot, some character's arc(Like Sarah) begin slightly different, but at the end seems that everything will be like in ver2.1. There are a few weird things, like Marie going angry at MC because he was drugged by the maid and his cock sucked while he was asleep...i can talk for hours about how wrong it is if a girl get drugged by a rapist, and how if a boy/man get drugged by a rapist will be mocked(i hate double standards -.-). Also it would take hours to say how some characters' premises got changed for almost no reasons...but in the end they works(except Sarah, she should be our twin-sister, she would be the classic sister in love with their brother in an anime-version like "Onichan please watch my naked body because i love you and want your babies"...okay not that creepy/obsessive but in ver2.1 she was already in love with MC since the beginning in ver2.1, that's why she accepts MC's requests so easily, she loves him, and they're both in a family that doesn't really care for them...Maria at first was an asshole, Amy even worse...only the biggest sister was happy to meet them...and with an absent father...in ver2.1 was like creating the perfect love incest story...)

Originality: It's an edgy revamp of a good game...i mean it's the first time that i see this kind of plot...so it's nice

Renders: Everyone feels like they had a bath in a tank of body-oil...in general nice CGI

Sound: Good but nothing worth mentioning

Playability: The ver2.1 was better(more exploring, more puzzles, more stealth), now is just "go there, click the sparkly furniture"

Performance: This game eat less RAM/CPU/GPU than Google Chrome xD

Bugs: TONS of BUGS like in ver2.1, most of them are problematic.

Animations: Meh, it's just a bunch of pics of MC before and after pushing his dick inside women genitals/boobs..it's lazy.

Voice Acting: Some random out-of-syncro "oh god" "Oh yeah" "Imma going to cum" said really really fast(same as ver2.1 btw), so pretty much annoying.

Grammar: This guy is spanish...and his english is worse than mine u.u

Amount of content:Not much but Mixed up badly in the revamp.
