There was some old game a bit like it, but I can't recall much about it other than you got eggs or similar in the mail and little women (fairies? regular women? I don't remember) hatched out of them. Memory is rather foggy on it though, I don't recall if it was simple Tamagotchi styled, more story focused, or what, nor what site I even saw it on. Maybe someone else can help point the name out if it's allowed.

I think the game was Box -Hako- (or just Hako) from Illusion. It was around 2008 release, so not sure how well it would run on modern systems or if the dloads are even still up. But you can see the post on f95 here . There is also a wiki to explain some things
