My time with F95Zone.

I came into the porn game area via a friend of mine. Before that, she and I used to share the erotic stories that we found interesting.

It was that friend that first directed me to a site for porn games, I didn't like how they did it, and I thought "there has to be better out there". Lo and behold, there was. I found F95Zone.

In my past, I had always volunteered my time to projects I liked, so when I saw that the Latest Updates (later referred to as LU) page was being redesigned, I got to work on a . Sam apparently liked what I did, and brought me into the fold. In the following months, we worked hard in order to be able to deliver it to the community.

If a client said to me, that they wanted this same thing, I would be quoting a price within the 1 to 2 thousand price range.

During that time, developing the LU page, I found a person that I could work really well with, it was Sam. I've been working for about 20 years now. I've never met a person like him.

Sometimes it's because they're ambitious, they want to "one-up" you, or it's just a case of them just viewing their jobs as a paycheck, and they're passing the time. But that wasn't Sam, he just wanted to work with me, we had times where we had different opinions or ideas, but it was never a fight in finding a compromise. The end result speaks for its self.

But we don't get paid for the time we put into developing F95Zone or other related projects.

The vast majority of us, are waking up in the morning and doing the work. Our motivation is money. But my motivation for doing this job has been the working relationship that I've built with Sam. It's so much fun. No matter what I'm asked to help out with, it's a joy. There are many challenges that would need to be overcome, I wouldn't be able to solve them on my own, but with that relationship, being able to communicate respectfully, we're able to solve them together.

That is not nothing. That's something special. And unique. And rare. That is... kinda cool.

We've been working together on lots of things I can't and won't speak of. Some you might learn of in the future.

So many times, I see people attacking the F95Zone team because they're not doing X thing as soon as they would like or in the way they would like. I'm not F95Zone staff, but seeing it hurts even me. Because, even though I'm not staff, I see maybe only 5% of the work they put in, but even that is enough for me to know, that even though they're volunteers, they're giving it their all. They're doing the best they can.

F95Zone isn't like other sites. It's a constantly evolving entity. The team is always wanting to make it better, for you. And they do it, while asking for nothing in return.

I wake up every morning, happy. Because I get to work on cool things. For this cool team. And help out in cool ways. Even though I can't put my name to any of these things, I love it. It's a challenge, and it's fun. I can smile, and that's fucking cool.

I look at what we have done in this short time, we don't get paid, but have done awesome things, and I want to keep doing those things. That's my decision, and I'm fine with that.

I will be here, helping, for as long as my skills are of value to the F95Zone team. It's an honor, even though we're all pirating perverts :p

I have a dim view on people that attack staff.

Sure i've had my issue with a couple of uploaders thinking they are mods but even with the warnings i've had I get along with most staff.

Bas has given me most of my warnings and I think we've still got along. We've talked a couple of time, i like the guy anyway. I generally deserve the warnings i've had I know I can sometimes go a tiny bit too far with some people.

All in all I appreciate what they do. They gave us a place to dwell and get our adult content from.

Some of the staff I like, some I haven't had much contact with and one or two I think are pricks but that's a personal issue not a work ethic one and not something i've felt the need to call them out on publicly, it is a personal problem after all.

I can't say I know how much work goes into running a website, i'm a chef not a IT girl and computers has never been my strong point. I just spend money on them and hope they work. Should really make some effort to learn, i'm a gamer that doesn't know how my rig runs ... sad really. My baby sister has to fix it for me ... she's 14 ... so shameful.

Anyways, it's nice to hear about work that does go on, most of us aren't really privy to that.

While I haven't had many dealings with Sam he seems like a decent guy.

Sadly you're a bit of a dick ... only joking hun, can't say a bad word about you either.

Any fringe group sleeps on attacking the authority.
Any group supporting any set of rules above all are the authority.
Ta-daa -> any self respecting SJW walks this windy roads of this forum and goes against authority.

No, I am a bit of dick, I won't take offense to that, in fact, I kinda stand proud with how much of a dick I am. But, I've had my hand slapped too. It's been brought to my attention, that while I'm not staff, that dev badge means something. I was honestly living with the fact that it didn't really mean anything. But, my reality was checked.

You are actually one of the few people on the forum I have a lot of respect for, and whos posts I look out for. Anyway, thanks for the reply, it was nice to read.

Can we hug now? :D

Last year I tried a VN, I think it was Milfy City, and I thought it was pretty cool. That led me to F95Zone where I discovered that there was a whole world of VNs and games. Some had surprisingly clever writing or well-done graphics. Some just sucked. Nearly all of them had this creative hobbyist vibe behind them that gave them these unique, interesting personalities of their own.

So I started coming to F95Zone often and checking out the new releases, figuring out what I liked and didn't like. After a while I began to think, "wouldn't it be cool if there were a VN that did this" or "maybe if you posed a scene like this that would look better." Soon enough I was building a VN in my head when I went to sleep at night. It was just an idea, but it persisted.

Then I began looking at the other forums on F95. I looked at the Dev Help and the Artwork and the guides. These were just everyday people being creative, working on a hobby. This was something I might be able to do.

And so I began making my own VN. I read the guides. I looked through every single page of assets. When I ran into trouble I asked questions and they were answered (and still are).

Everything that's needed to go from some idiot pervert enjoying adult VNs to some idiot pervert making adult VNs and bringing to life this idea that persisted in my head night after night is available here on F95Zone, and you guys who work on the site and who spend your time making it run smoothly are responsible for that.

Thank you for the work you do. It means something. And I appreciate the hell out of you all.

That is a kick-ass story, thanks for sharing.

I've actually started writing my own story too. It's been a slog. I wanna make it right. But like you, it's been this site that helped make it real.

I too have started making my own game, I would never have thought to even think about creating one if it wasn't for this place. I think it was DMD that brought me here originally. I might be wrong though, it could have been Sarah's Life (I miss that game, it looks shit now compared to games now though). I've played far too many games to count.

There are very few people that have my respect, either IRL or on here, but Ava is definitely one of them! :) There are probably more on here than IRL though, to be honest. I spend far more time on here talking to people and discussing games and theories than I do with anyone in the non-digital world. I'm really glad I found this place! :)

My first game, was Dreaming of Dana. I played it first on "that other site", but I kept up it here. It was through that game, that made me look for something better, and that was F95Zone.

Thanks for sharing your story though, that is cool. I can't wait to see what you create. Best of luck, mate.

I would like to say, I am a straight man. My love for Sam, is within those bounds lol fucking hell. Just because I'm straight, It doesn't stop me from valuing another person, regardless of their gender or orientation.

I have zero shame in saying that I love that man. I would like to have a drink with him, but I wouldn't kiss him. Even I have a line I won't cross, sorry Sam :p lol

So, lets got past that idea shal we.
