Fantastic game, possible the best (or at least most underrated) on the site. Essentially a more detailed and in depth version of princess trainer game (personally I think the mechanics of this game are far more interesting than the former), combined with a unique (but still quite attractive) rotoscope style.
The only legitimate "complaint" I have about this game is that it's pretty damn hard, and can feel excruciatingly unfair at points. But hey, that just means you restart and continue playing!
I really enjoy this game, its unique and well written.
A warning to those about to try it out though, you need to go into this with the right mindset. The idea is that you aren't the princess, she is her own person, with her own motives and ambitions. You are her secret advisor, so you nudge and influence her down the paths that you want her to go. This lack of direct control could be frustrating, but I really like it, it makes the princess feel more like an actual person.
The gameplay mechanics really center around this idea too. You influence the princess by suggesting what she should focus on, and she makes decisions by kind of randomly sampling the influences that are in her subconscious (I'm not explaining it well, but the game introduction does a decent job of explaining this better). This random influence draw mechanic makes for a unique puzzle to solve for the gameplay, and of course its also well suited from a story telling perspective. This is what really helps the player connect to the princess and her story as a real person.
Other strong features: A LOT of flexibility in the possible paths, good art, and great writing.
I'd say you could only see max of like 25% of the content in any one playthrough, so I'd really recommend playing the game at least once blind, then playing again after looking at the wiki and choosing a path that you would like to aim for.
As a big fan of Long live the queen, I couldn't find something similar. And finally this game is exactly what I wanted.
The story kinda simple, but there are mysteries, that are pleasant to discover and it's awesome. Great characters with the depth. Graphics is pleasant even though I don't like pixel art (I wish there would be more animations). But there was a problem with gameplay
When I've played initial demo and was torn about randomness in that kind of game. Without saves, you could not play it reliably. But right now with implemented checkpoints and dual moods the amount of randomness is acceptable. And sometimes it's nice to see the event play out a bit different from expected.
Great game, I wish there would be more like it.
Let me be honest with you, The game is great, but current mechanics of the game suck.
Everyone who tells you different, is just a liar to himself/herself. If you can cast a spell or two on the python script, the rating may change to 3-4 stars (even up to 5 stars if you are a python wizard).
So, why the game sucks? First of all, the whole approach to the gameplay: you need to watch/read an event and know what skill to develop beforehand in order to succeed in the next playthrough -- you can't just use your 'common sense' without prior knowledge. Secondly, you have little control on your 'random emotion', even if you reload -- you drag the same cards. Even if you reload to the point when you discard the cards, the game will still drag at least 4 cards of the first 'emotion spectrum'. Even worse: the game remembers your fail with cards, and on reloading disregards your new deck completely. Probably works the other way around, i.e. you can pick up all needed cards, pass an 'emotion test', then reload several days before and pick up completely different deck for the next encounter. Thirdly, if you start a new game, your previous saves are erased. Fourthly, the meetings with vassals disregard whether they are your tutor or not, or whether you are already lovers or not. Fifthly, random and pseudo-random events are the worst. Willingly sucking a random guy's cock when the girl is embarrassed to show her tits? Because of 1 lust emotion? What? Or one of the two existing heirs to the throne, travelling to the nearby vassal ALONE in the woods full of rogues? Without any bodyguards? Are you kiddin'?
Again, the game ideas are quite entertaining, and the story with its branches is rather OK as well, but the implementation needs more efforts.
An extremely obnoxious save system. Dev should realize that players might prefer certain choices over others. I don't have the time of day to replay this as many times as it wants me too to get the options I want.
A shame because its that rare game that wants to be more than just porn.
It is nice enough to play through, art is not great but sufficient. The writing is fun.
Low score is because the dev basically sabotaged to save system requiring you to replay everything if you want to change anything. There are ways around it if you save the whole directory, but that is just a real pain. And this problem will get bigger as the game gets bigger.
With a normal save-system it is about 4 stars, but as it is now I would avoid it.
I hate pixel art and I hate to see games lacking sexual content.
So why the hell am I giving this game 5 stars? The game-play is so unique and phenomenal that it is hard to place it in your average run of the mill skill management system/trainer/strategy where you can plan everything in advance and breeze through the game.
Sometimes events you planned simply don't turn out that way and sometimes you just get lucky. This game handles that randomness with great elegance and asks of you to adapt to the present circumstances. You may feel compelled to scum-save and get back on track on your original plan, but this game has a protection system against that.
Interesting and unique gameplay, art and story, writing is good and characters are interesting.
Why 2/5 then? While writing is good, the story (that is somewhat unique) was average and characters (that were well written) were appearing for a short time so i couldn't really get invested into them. The amount of porn was miniscule.
In the end there is really interesting gameplay with good art style and not much more, the rest is ok and that's not enough. 3/5
Then i saw that after finishing a single playthrough i've got only 1/3 of the scenes because of how the gameplay works, to get all or most scenes i would need to replay it at least 2 more playthroughs, -1 overall score for that
An outstanding game for the genre, thanks to competent writing, meaningful gameplay with replay value, and a charming 90s aesthetic. It basically feels like a roguelike in its game mechanics and story - you have a limited amount of time that you have to make count, seizing any opportunities for advancement, and hoping that RNGsus is in a good mood. Great game as long as you don't mind playing a role where you're constantly discriminated against and objectified.
This game is definitely good. The story per se is not something new, neither amusing.. but the gameplay is awesome! the RNG in this game is done very well and it gives a lot of replayability and you never know what's coming next! you really need to try it at least once
Really great start! This game has a lot of potential. Great writing, nice art and really great style and game design... Haven't played any other adult fames like it.
Definitely deserves some attention..
Idea of somewhat random storytelling is very cool, and very well implemented. You can be lustfull, but not always you'll act like it, because not always a specific card will be drawn drom your subconscious.
Also - ways of earning cards and manipullating princess into different behavior are creatively made
Art is hot, but penises could be made better (nohomo). I know it's pixel art, but, female bodies are more realistic ;p
One way or another - must play! You can't see anything in one play, so there is good amount of content right now
Imagine if Reign and Nameless (old porn game of my teenhood of your choice) had a sexy baby!!!
yeah i know...
It's a very difficult game with pixel art style. You like it or dislike it immediately but there's no medium ground!
Sooo... i don't want to summarize or spoil but outch this game is addictive to high level!
Great stuff , could be a little less difficult or have some difficulty level but i don't care it's fun and for games like that generally that's quite repetitive each turn but here not at all...
So Greaaaaaat future game and already a lot of gameplay as 0.52
Other than running into quite a few bugs, this game has a pretty fun skill management system and a unique plot to tie it all together. Sometimes game choices seem trivial or don't change much but at its current state I found myself doing two playthroughs because learning certain skills and making different dialogue choices can change the direction of the story quite rapidly. Giving it a nice level of replay-ability, with its own unique 2D art style thats pretty damn good. And to top it all off it has a randomizer for events and such that add on to the replay-ability factor.
Pretty unique and original game. I have been getting error messages for some scenes but i assume it will be fixed at some point. Regardless though, its still a nice game that has a lot of potential, and i hope to see more from it.
The creator of this is a damn genius. I was thinking of a similar system of not controlling the protagonist, but instead, controlling other factors. This card system not only is the best way this could have been done, but it doesn't entirely punish you for being promiscuous. Promiscuity is more of a bonus.
Absolutely amazing piece of software, art and game. One of the better games I've seen in general, the level of thought that's gone into this is amazing. Even though the current level of content is an obvious stub relative to the (implied) scope of the game, there is a great deal of replay value here, and, by far, the most interesting parts of the game are when everyone has their clothes on—rare for a game that has sexual content. The clunkiness of some parts of the game and its current relatively short single playtime do not detract from the quality.
This is actually really good as a game in itself. Definitely stands out amongst the CYOA / RPGmaker crowd. The porn is a great bonus and actually feels very rewarding despite being relatively tame (so far), due to how well balanced it is against the other gameplay aspects
No, I'm not posting 4 outta 5 just to be the contrarian combo-breaker. I have earnest problems.
Art's alright, low-res pixel graphics that aim for quaint and get there admirably. I miss my hi-fi titties though.
Writing is nice, but I came to the same conclusions some of the other reviewers have about this playing very much like a couple Steam releases I have. Voice is fine but there are a couple cringy modern slang inserts that made me facepalm.
My porn findings were limited to flashing and a handy. Nothing shocking, but nothing squicky either.
My missing star comes from the gameplay. The weekly lessons comes from the same afformentioned Steam ADV except one step more annoying due to the once-removed Princess-has-her-own-mindset thing. I eventually got used to it once I'd limited the flavors of randomized response possibilities a bit, but on a fresh start first playthough I was very close to clicking the hell out. Having the Princess' head full of random unrelated bullshit she could randomly pick as a response to random situations and then have seemingly all those possibilities boil down to "no you're wrong" had me mentally drubbing this up as the Medieval Ex-Girlfriend Simulator 2020. Also I want more tits.
I can be bought. Find a way to work the tentacle demons in with a well done non-game over-y scene and I'll shamelessly ignore all my gripes because porn > ethics.
TLDR: I like it well enough, but the learning curve stumbles a bit at the start.
