Guys, I'm currently at the concept and planning stage for my hentai game on mobile devices. This is my first time doing this, so I have a ton of questions.

  • Where do people usually publish games?
  • I'm making a game based on an existing anime — will there be copyright issues?
  • I don't know if it's okay to include loli in my game, or even not full loli, but at least 14+ or 16+ characters. I don't know which services might remove the game for that, and most importantly, whether I could end up in court over it.
  • I also wanted to use music from the anime, but I don't know if copyrighted music is allowed, or even remixes of it.

Experienced developers who've dealt with this, please give me some advice.

P.S. I am from Ukraine

Here, itch, steam, gog etc.

Maybe. The risk is low if your game isn't very popular, but it always exists.

I don't know if it's okay to include loli in my game, or even not full loli, but at least 14+ or 16+ characters. I don't know which services might remove the game for that, and most importantly, whether I could end up in court over it.
Your game will be considered illegal in several jurisdictions, and numerous places will refuse to distribute it. You'll only be left with the Japanese market and perhaps certain communities that tolerate this niche to some extent.

I also wanted to use music from the anime, but I don't know if copyrighted music is allowed, or even remixes of it.
Officially it's not allowed, but if you don't draw attention to yourself and don't try to profit from someone else's intellectual property, it might go unnoticed.

  1. While in development, many open a Patreon, Subscribestar, or similar funding platform account to help them gain a few dollars while developing (median adult game dev earns less than $100 usd per month, even after 4+ years) Then there are sites to publish on like Itch, Steam, Nutaku, DLsite (median Steam adult game brings in less than $200 usd per month over its lifetime). Where do you buy games? Check there.
  2. Short answer: yes. Long answer: ask an attorney with IP experience, particularly with gaming, in your area. DO NOT seek legal advice online... Especially a pirate forum.
  3. Nearly every publishing and funding site says characters must be visibly adults (18+) in sexually explicit games if you want to use their site. As for court... Again, ask an attorney in your area.
  4. Yes, music is copyrighted and sites have rules against using anything you don't have the right to use. Also, there are laws. See #2 and #3 for further info.
