so a couple of years ago i remember playing this game where the mc was a detective of some sort and one of the main plot lines was you going to the store with a family friend and getting kidnapped. the having to escape some kind of farm . if anyone can help me find this game i would be grateful

True, but he does start working as a police officer in training in one of the routes, so it still fits.Sounds like game The Way except that MC in this game is not a detective.
