Sorry for double posting but it seems like I posted the original on the "solved" part of this thread somehow (unless someone moved it there?, I cant remember), when in fact i'm still having that issue
so i'll just ask again if anyone knows how to open these

rolled nat 1 on mind read, you'll have to tell us the game's name
Well if it matters that much I guess i'll post it and a download link just in case (not sure if this is allowed but its not on this site, that's why im posting it)
in case it matters the game uses l2d for its animations/sprites. And I supposed i should've specified what I wanted to do with it also so i'll do it now before i forget. Im looking for a way to edit their textures, nothing like coding or really complicated stuff like that

did you try to open them in an editor?

Like a hex-/text-editor, but I assume those files are normally too large for that. Iirc (so really long ago I fiddled with things) there were programs that could open just the first, errm, kilobyte(s)? megabyte?
It could be there's some plain text there giving you an idea which program was used to create these .dat files, or information regarding the dat file's structure ... and then from there ...

could also be there's not, then you did not lose anything.

opening a 400+ mb file with a hex editor? lol
im not sure where i would have to look if i do that tho, i mean surely the texture files are inside that thing
like i said the game was made with visual studio (first time i've seen that a game can be made with that thing)
but i really doubt its as simple as downloading visual studio and just opening the file, it never is that simple
and well problem with hex editor and japanese games is that i never found one that can read them properly, japanese characters always come out as a garbled mess or just symbols (I have hxd installed)
but no cant say I could find anything there, file is also really long on the hex editor
but i mean im asuming the dat files were made within visual studio itself, but when i search on google all i get is opening the DAT files in code which... its not useful because what's the point of opening textures in code form (is taht even possible?)

That's because it's up to you to provide more information, if it wasn't for my "snarky" response, this thread would have had no replies from the start. I was hoping the name of the game would provide more information (that you didn't provide), but there's no really much from what i've seen.
For instance, if you had shown the folder structure (and not just 2 files), maybe that would suggest the game engine used, which would make it easier to know which tools to use to extract such files.

Ren'Py has its own extractor, kirikiri has its own extractor, unity has its own extractor, and so on.
I can't really be bothered to download a whole game just to check, so my best guess is to use a generic asset viewer such as: which supports .dat format.

I mean... the developer told me he made it with visual studio, what more do you need
i said so 3 times now *shrug*
microsoft visual studio with direct X library... 4 times now
So i don't know why you are saying that i never specified which engine its using, i did, 4 times
do i have to screenshot the developer's comment as well or what
