So, 2 things

I wonder if you guys also have a small "flicker" when you click over to the new text or picture in VN games, specifically Renpy. What happens is I click mouse to advance, and when the new text appears the whole monitor will boost brightness by like 30%, only to then drop back to normal after a very short time (less than half a sec). This is not very noticeable outside of black color background btw. But it is consistent, every single time, and I am wondering if there is something I can do about it ?

also

Sometimes when I play, and there is audio files playing and stopping all the time as I click through a game, the sound from my monitor speakers crackle, as if you are plugging/unplugging a audio cable which can generate a distinct sound. I don't have this issue with sound outside of Renpy games(not sure about Unity and RPGM haven't tested). Anyone have encountered something similar and have tips? In general the sound is not great coming from the monitor, I just thought "this is why people use headset", but then I tried Spotify and the audio quality was worlds better and could play so much louder without sounding like they're about to burst.. so this is a issue related to Renpy somehow.

My first guess is that your pc is a potato, or the games you have played are highly unoptimized. Can you give us your computer specs? Any sample game? Are you sure that it's your monitor's brightness going up, and not the image starting faded out (darker) and then getting brighter until it shows fully? Are you using a ssd, or a very ancient hdd that does some weird sounds?

Comp is top of the line: XTX and the rest of the hardware matches. (HAHA HDD) QD-OLED monitor. Right now I am playing Bad Memories and here the flickering happens, every time I click. I tried disabling HDR but same issue without.

Just tried a game I had installed from before, Eruption Imminent. The text moved slower there, so I could notice a new detail: it's like 1 quick flick when clicking, then 2 more flicks when the text is final.

Also this does only happen when I play in fullscreen. If I do windowed and even maximize it this problem does not occur at all.

Is it a laptop?

Have you tried modifying settings in the graphics acceleration menu (Shift+G)?
Before your suggestion, I had not. I did some googling and found a similar issue where a solution was given: "Turn off G-Sync. All renpy games have this flickering glitch if your fps is unlocked."

I'd rather not have to flip on and off my freesync, however it is possible to limit the fps to 60 from that menu and the problem is now gone! Thanks for steering me in the right direction mr fap *clap*

Only did a quick testrun but it seems I have fixed the popping sound issue as well, changing output format from 192000 Hz to 48000 Hz.

I will update if it is still broken, if not, it works.

EDIT: while it might have improved on one issue- I am now listening to a music loop in Eruption Imminent and it sounds like it's from a LP player. Same sound as when the needle hits the record, or a scratchy record? I dunno but it does not sound like it's intended.. No idea what I can try any more to have flawless sound.
