This is kind of a lie, current AI translations are miles ahead of MTL, they improved a lot since a few years ago and now AI TL are okay to play on, they aren't as good as any professional translator but it's decent, far, far from the slop your average MTL output
Well barring the arbitrary distinction (both are MTL, AI having machine learning scrape through literal hundreds of thousands of literature to develop a neural network of most likely matches, and standard MTL being similar to that, but more literally translates things based on the possible meanings of the word, e.g. why Google Translate is still good for learning), modern AI TL is far better to read in than Google translate of before; those who say otherwise hasn't seen the chaos of the past, lol.
Agreed. Translations made using ChatGPT4.0 or DeepseekV3 are far superior to the standard MTL slop that we used to see in years past. There's still a mistake every once in a while, but it's come a long way.
AI translations are more accurate these days, but I'd honestly argue that while yeah, MTL is impossible to read, AI translations are still miserable to read. At least of the two that I've tried, they had the most miserably dry and boring prose I've read in a long time. It felt like reading some highschooler's essay. Characters talked like robots, and descriptions, which are already usually bland as hell anyways, were even more noticeably dry. They actively made the game experience worse. So I avoid both MT Land AI equally. Human translations are still the only true path.
The puzzle of where to go from there is told you by the Jackalope girl, except it's in japanese. Basically the ice path is a puzzle. walk on all of them in a way that ends with you on the safe spot near/on the hole in the wall and a path will open up.
Likely because the game dev or translator used git, which would make sense, if you have to work with multiple people together.
