Overview:
Neon Bay is a text-based adult life and dating simulation game set in a near-future non-dystopian cyberpunk city. It is under active development and currently in an "Early Access" phase with the core systems implemented and plans for more content. Neon Bay features a robust NPC generation system with NPCs that have their own schedules, preferences (both sexual and otherwise), personalities, and styles. It also features careers, needs management, outfit management, interactive sex scenes, and a couple of storylines to follow for now. Having newly moved to the city, it's time to start fresh and find love, or just fuck as many people as you want.

"a non dystopian cyberpunk city" ? What do you mean, since the cyberpunk genre is all about dystopia : urban violence, ultra-invasive flashy and noisy ads everywhere, trafic nightmares, pollution, mega-urbanization, hugely armed police and private security, people more or less heavily modified, economic discrepancies aplenty, cults and so on ?

Maybe they meant something like retrofuturism but were either not sure if that word applied to their game or if there was a more accurate term to use? From the UI alone it looks like they are trying for that 70's/80's futurism aesthetics, neon lights and muscle cars and all that, but without the dystopian aspects that are commonly associated with it. I don't know for the life of me if there is a more fitting term than retrofuturism or cyberpunk that applies here.

Yep, heavily inspired by those! :)

Think more pink mohawk cyberpunk than black trenchcoat. Flashy, optimistic, colorful. Neon lights and dueling hackers instead of corporate espionage and oppression. Less Blade Runner/Neuromancer and more The Diamond Age/Watch Dogs 2 in style. I guess technically it probably leans more towards post-cyberpunk or solarpunk, but... yeah. Near-future sci-fi was the best way I could think to describe it.

You need tags dear. We can't really understand what kind of game it is.
The tags are in the spoiler under the Genre label as the template for a game post specified.

If people want to give me money for it, that's on them. Patreon is optional and on itch it's pay what you want. I'm working on this because I want to. What's posted here is actually the first update for the game after the initial release about a week ago, I wanted to polish up the initial release a bit before posting it. And then the whole itch.io thing happened which made me speed up my timeline to update and post it here. The next update will be towards the end of August or maybe early September depending on how long it takes me to get it done.

Even though the examples mention wardrobe clothing down to the color of items, they come across as portraying the game as text-only.

Thank you for your reply. The question only occurred to me because you are allowed to eat in the apartment but not drink, so you are forced to go outside and spend money just to quench your thirst. Since this is such a trivial matter, I assumed that it would be resolved in a few months by a balance patch :KEK:
Sorry but we have seen such things here from hor..i mean other games.. many times and many of us are gladly Patreon or Subscribestar supporters after having some first glances at a game but are branded kin (is branding going to be a thing?)

Wait. You’re telling me I can move to a neon-lit cyber city, get a job, manage my outfits, AND seduce half the population while ignoring my basic needs like a true future citizen?

This is very promising! There's a big lack of high-quality open-ended text-based games out there (you can literally count them on your fingers) so this will make for a nice addition to this niche. I'm curious to see this evolve.

Ah, I see. Well I use Discord to keep track of bugs and things that people want in the game as well as a list of known issues. The drinking in your apartment is a known issue, which yeah I'll update the game to fix. :)

Yes. :D
