Got to say, I've only been messing about with Civitai for a matter of hours over the past couple of days- it's ridiculously user friendly!
Sometimes I wonder if there's actually any reason to write nondescript negative prompts like "bad anatomy, deformed face, fingers, hands, poorly drawn", etc. or do we simply use them, because we saw others use them when we started, and assume they do something?
As if by default the AI is like: "Welp, you didn't specify the quality of the anatomy, so here — enjoy".
Genuinely no idea on the weighting given to negative prompts - I'm just working off other people's ideas right now. I suppose I could try with only positive prompts next time.
Well, no, negative prompts are important. I was just referring specifically to ones that I imagine would be hard for AI to "understand", quantify and that it would have little reason to use in the first place. Like "bad anatomy". Which is a very common negative prompt, that I use myself. But it's just so, so vague.
In contrast, as far as I understand, "score_9, score_8_up, score_7_up" are all quantifiable. It's kinda like saying "HD/full HD/4k resolution" — all those mean very specific screen resolutions. It's not just "good quality".
If you don't use negative prompts, the AI can, for instance, add details that were in the images the model was trained on but that you don't necessarily want. I made several images of Laura in the style of "Arcane" series. And because some characters in the show wear jewelry, AI added it to Laura, even though I didn't ask it to.
That's a good point. AI doesn't know what "poorly drawn" or "bad anatomy" means, or even what body contortions humans aren't physically capable of.
So positive and negative prompts need to be exacting and in technical language for the best and most accurate possible results. You need to be specific.

Exactly. And if it did know what it means, you'd think they would teach it not to draw it during model training. So there would be no reason for us to specifically tell AI not to draw "bad anatomy".
Just like we don't have to tell the AI "don't draw 3 noses on human faces".
