Was going to wait for the Halloween update before throwing out some comments and notes about the game but since 0.3.3d is still not out yet I'll just comment on 0.3.3d.
Surface level and to caveat a lot of what follows, the game is solid and pretty promising. The writing characters are likable enough, the first puzzle is interesting and the second puzzle has potential once the placeholders are filled in. The art is great too.
The UI's design is fine but it's implementation feels a bit jank. In the tutorials the tutorial that teaches you how to walk seems to be the only tutorial you can't walk during. You can interact with the luggage before the tutorial for how to do so pops up which requires you to close out the dialogue for interacting with the luggage before you can close out the tutorial. The tutorial for using your inventory blocks the ability using your inventory, so for the first puzzle if you didn't understand the tutorial you're kind of hosed. You interact with characters/items by using the keyboard and progress through dialogue with the keyboard, but you can't close tutorials with the keyboard. Some of these could be addressed by adding tutorials into the journal.
The UI doesn't quite stop there. The UI buttons are available in cutscenes. You can open up you inventory as you black out when you go to the computer. You can block the cutscenes and the sex scenes with the journal and inventory as well. Feels like the buttons should be blocked out during those scenes. Also, not sure how I like closing the inventory closing the journal when the journal is opened through the journal button. If I open the journal by pulling out of the inventory I get closing the inventory closing the journal, but if I open the journal first and then the inventory then I'm not sure closing the inventory should close the journal.
The game feels very front loaded right now. I get that the game is short, but the first 10 or so minutes are probably the best so far. You get to the mansion, go to the bedroom, wake up late at night, solve the first puzzle, meet Euphy, bang. This is all really solid and a great hook for the game. The next thing you do? Wake up, bang Euphy, nap, bang Euphy, nap, bang Euphy, sleep, bang Euphy. The Do Something -> Nap cycle persists through the game and feels like a step down from the beginning. Banging Euphy so often isn't bad, but there are only two sex scenes for the rest of the version. I get Euphy if the deuteragonist but she gets 7 sex scenes to Roxy's topless portrait and nothing for Annie. 5 of Euphy's 7 sex scenes are within the first 15 minutes, Euphy practically floods you before you go through a bit of a dry spell, which is drawn out by how frequently you're just taking a nap so you can go talk to someone.
Maybe the Halloween update will address some of this. I think there's a lot of potential with the art and how charming the characters can be. The gameplay part is fine too when it's there. I'd almost say what this segment needs right now is a puzzle during the discovery of Roxy segment. As it stands Annie wakes you up and then you just... walk to the pool. Not sure what, but it will fill out that middle bit where you're walking around so Euphy, Annie and Roxy can say things.
