I agree in part, but the biggest problem in my opinion are the updates, if the dev can't deliver both paths at the same time with the character, one of the sides will get pissed off and start putting pressure on the dev, who often ends up abandoning the project, or making wrong decisions due to the pressure, so although I understand, I prefer the game to be focused on just one audience, that way, you can dedicate yourself fully to that.
Honestly, I don't necessarily thing it needs to be "fully planned out", but I do think it should be fully thought out. Think about what kind of audience you want, what kind of game you want to be making for the next several years, assuming you plan on making a game that has any sort of scale of course. Think about whether you want to try and make money with the game, or if it's simply a passion project for you.
Because despite everything I said before, if someone has no expectation or desire to make money off of a game, then sure, make whatever game they want, do whatever routes and side content and take as long as they would like. And then, probably avoid coming to forums for the most part, unless they enjoy participating in arguments and debates lol.
But if they do want to make money, then take a stance on all the "controversial" tags - like NTR (and also sharing, swinging, and voyeur if it includes a dick other than the MC's), futa/trans, gay, rape, and I'm sure some others I'm missing - and choose to go all in on it as a focus of the game, or avoid it completely. If you absolutely feel like you need to have both, you just have to understand that you'll be alienating a huge chunk of your potential audience, while not exactly appeasing the other side because of only going with a half-measure.
All this being said, this is definitely getting off-topic for this thread, so probably best to cut the conversation short, especially given the dev seems to be cutting the NTR from the game going forward apparently.

My advice would be to go with the original plan, dude. You just need to be clear about the ntr. Put it in the OP that the game will feature such scenes and thats all, you dont have to remove it.

There's obviously an audience for ntr, even if it is more niche, once you advertise the game as what it is, a ntr game, then you'll get the audience you want: ntr and a few vanilla that are ok with "avoidable ntr", and the rest that hates it will just stay away mostly. Ive seen a lot of ntr devs remove ntr due to pressure and then just adding it back because they like it ( which causes a shitstorm) or just abandoning the game due to lack of motivation, so I think you are making a mistake tbh, specially since you already said you are a fan of ntr so not many people will trust you to not add it eventually anyway, thats happened way too many times.
By fully planned out I mean you have your entire story outlined although the exact dialog isn't necessarily written, you know exactly what game mechanics you're gonna use, you have a development plan with milestones in place, etc... Take it from someone with a degree in software development every minute of planning at the start will save you an hour to a day at the end. There's also some room for pleasing the fans like if you have multiple routes you can adjust which routes get finished first based on fan polling as long as it doesn't interfere with the overall plan but you don't go adding or cutting stuff just to please them cause had a fully flushed out plan from the start. You save the "great ideas" you have in the middle and end of the dev process for the next game.

That's fair, if you are going to do it, it needs to be balanced out. I disagree on one audience though, since I am both, it's just difference in mind set I guess. Sometimes I want the MC to be romantic and full sweet romance, other times I want to see the women get corrupted and dominated. Same characters that can satisfy two separate scenarios that I like. I think a big problem though, is there is a good amount of people who won't even tolerate the other side getting any amount of attention or a dev is fair and swaps between paths per update and instantly stop supporting, which causes the issue of NTR people becoming the main requesters in content. It's a self-inflicted issue, and blaming the devs for "going that way" isn't fair, the people with less tolerance of paths that they can easily avoid abandoned support.

You know what? Kudos to you dev for not getting all offended and doubling down out of spite like I've seen so many other devs do. The fact you care about your audience despite your own preferences shows refreshing maturity and I think more people should support you.
If you eventually want to do something with NTR just make a game that focuses on that for maximum success. Your attitude alone means I may have to buy you a coffee.

If you ask me, take notes from King of Summer dev if you're looking at how to tackle games like this instead the huge bias from people here. But what do I know. Looked interesting until I saw that post. Good Luck.
