New game idea

I have a game idea and I wonder what help or opinions I can find on here....
The game is centered around a college graduate. He starts dating a beautiful younger college student. The game takes place in med school. Due to the high IQ and ability to purchase drugs the main character, which is into somnophilia, tries it on her girl friend. He also realizes that he likes it when others join in. The story line follows his relationship with his girlfriend.
Other characters join in, different groups and girls. The small challenge of the game is that you can get caught and go to jail. You can over dose someone. You can get the wrong people involved. You can get a girl pregnant....there is so much more......
Fetishes I would like to include are: non consensual, anal, gang bang, oral, somnophilia, voyeur, harem, foot fetish, pregnancy, lesbian...and even more.
I hardly know anything about art, design, or games, so any or all help would do. Including criticisms about the game....
Thank you

Echoing what Darth mentioned, the more extreme you go with fetishes and certain story elements, the more niche the game will become... The broader player base/readership doesn't tend to go for the extreme fetishes and content where the main character (the protagonist) is the victim of cuckold... You will find some folks who are into some of that stuff, but again, the more you add, the more focused the fan base will become...

Also, take this into account, as the more extreme it becomes, the fewer choices you will have for using donation based hosting services... Most of those services have strict rules and requirements against the more extreme fetishes... And they are only becoming more aggressive with their enforcement, as time progresses... You'll need to shop around for options, if that is even something you want to do... You could always find a online pay system with fewer restrictions and take donations directly rather then using a host service (like the patron based websites)...

In any case, expect negative feedback along with positive... More so, with specific fetish and story elements... It's gonna happen, so you should be prepared, just as Darth also mentioned... And do not go around with a chip on your shoulder, because it's gonna get knocked off a lot... Just breath, take the bad with the good, and keep on keepin' on...

Well... all i can say is keep things optional, market the more popular tags/fetishes and downplay the less liked ones. It's all about presentation.

Let's take Dating My Daughter for example... Back when it started, it had the 'bestiality' tag because some players voted on it on Patreon (lots of people here don't visit patreon) and like half of its playerbase just nope'd on the spot. Most people returned only after it was made explicitly clear that you'd need to make several direct choices to reach that content (it's not even in the game yet, they don't even have a dog).

Learn what people like and don't like, then promote the popular while leaving the less popular in the background and optional. If you don't keep it optional, people gonna hate real hard...

so i like the concept, but i got two concerns

First, in terms of NTR. Load of people wouldn't touch a NTR game with a 12ft stick, which sucks because it's realistic, if a family member/ non-partner has sex with other people its naturally. Regardless, advertising NTR means your game will already have a low fanbase.

Secondly, your niche USP's don't seem to fit the current consensus of a market mould, albeit it would be an interesting game to watch and develop, it would require a lot of determination to break the pre-existing regular, middleclass guy who fucks x y and z. A more sophisticated player may also become quite repetitive, and obnoxious and snobby, so care needs to be taken with his development

Success in this burgeoning industry requires 2 things most of the time, though this isn't necessarily always true:
Good Graphics & Good writing

Now, when I say good writing, I don't even mean a good "story," but rather, good grammar spelling, etc. Looking like it was poorly written or having subpar graphics are the first reasons people will write something off.

That said, even if you aren't worried about shitty spelling and things like that, and you pair up with an artist that is halfway decent, people will still complain.

So let me actually revise what I said earlier; success requires 3 things: Graphics, Writing, and Perseverance when comments start rolling in and aren't what you expected or hoped for. Have faith in yourself, and don't give up. Comments don't mean too much if the updates continue and you are making money (if that's your goal).

Anyway, go for it. Start writing. Find an artist looking for a new project, and get it out there!

Already had small incest, ntr and rape skirmishes in my games wip thread, but mines in 'storyboarding mode' as i like to call it so it was all dealt with pretty fast (though it was only one person per problem)

Incest the person as just messing around iirc, NTR was simple made it optional mostly girl-on-girl with four protagonist, rape wasn't needed at all and will be going in a small side game..

Honestly i'd play your game with no problem, but i like most fetishes.. Just go with it and if there's a big problem i'm sure we'll be around to deflate some of it (@Kane 'Vincidon' Salvatore )

A lesson on how to get your thread to devolve into a constant flame war.
I agree with Darth...

But, also, the developer should just do what they want... Don't cave in to outside pressures if you don't agree, as the developer... Catering to the whims of a few, 9 times out of 10, ends up ruining your original story paths and game development paths, and it typically shows, especially once you've already began development... If the project doesn't pan out, then you can always start a different project... Just take all this various advice we've all given, and do with it what you will, and hopefully it helps out somewhat, in the end...

so much this, the internets is a place where people WILL shit all over you, but if you can take it/don't care, you can great something that touche people and becomes "true" art.

There's an audience for almost anything, but definitely consider allowing players the ability to opt out of some of the extremes. Explicitly state how the extremes work and how gameplay is affected by them when describing your game.

one of the greatest thing, if you wanna make a visual story, (comic, VN, game, animation, and so forth) is making a storyboard, it doesn't matter if just some shitty MSpaint with stick figure. You can always make the art "better", but if your story is well though out, you are golden.

Nah I disagree with this. That's telling the developer what to develop - You do that if you want to, but only if you want to. People who say this want your game to cater to them, rather than to the people who would enjoy what you wanted to create.

No one paves the way by taking the path they're told to take.

my games 'storyboard' is all outlined for the most part here on f95, which has worked out great as far as i can tell :D
I don't think he meant the Story Outline, but the Storyboarding of the Visuals... In the movie business Storyboarding is a basic prep work done before movie production to decide the scene basics to include camera angles, character views, action setup, etc... It can be used with Visual Novels as well, since it in essence involves similar setups for the visuals... Here are some basic tutorials on Storyboarding, for anyone interested:
