What's a bit infuriating is that most of the scenes implemented come from fans of the game, not SplendidOstritch itself. The hypnotist scenes, for example, came from the Noncon scene discussion discord.
We asked SO to make the hypnotist scene-chain in the custom scene format rather than in Java, but we did not make the scenes. Several people (including me) have made noncon mods, but that hardly counts as making the scenes themselves. What's a bit infuriating is that most of the scenes implemented come from fans of the game, not SplendidOstritch itself. he's been doing fuck all for so long that 700 patrons died while waiting, and their bank accounts have now become the eternal paypigi am honestly curious about these 703 guys on his patreon
2030? at this time SO will maybe end his fixation with pointless lesbian scenes which nobody wants and proceed to something equally dumb.I'm gonna wait until 2030 for some content. One scene per 2-3 months is less than lame.
Imagine saying something like that when lesbian is one of the more successful genres in porn.btw nobody is interested in lesbian content
Well said, but I don't really care about lesbian scenes, really, it's just another preference that some people like. What I want to see is some updates with content. Add more events, more positions, more shops, more clubs/bars/parking lots/houses/jobs/traits etc. Adding one line per 2 months when getting so much money is like drinking patreons' wallets with a straw.2030? at this time SO will maybe end his fixation with pointless lesbian scenes which nobody wants and proceed to something equally dumb.
Thank you! Indeed, as you noticed, I myself don't really expect to see a lot of these things, for various reasons, especially the fact as you said it would be a lot for what would be probably very little and would probably not be of interest to a lot of people aside from some very specific niches. I only wanted to express some suggestions, really without expecting to be implemented, just for fun or to express them. Anyway, I'm not sure here, but if I came off as someone who wanted to attack the dev or demanding by him to implement things or to do more work in a disrespectful way, or something similar, I'm sorry if that's the case. I didn't want to. I don't know, if that's the case, maybe it's also because of the fact that English ain't my first language that I came off that way. Again, sorry in any case. That's a lot to ask for very little gain, I think. And the way you put it, I think you can see that too. In addition, I suspect many players would be uninterested in several of these so a lot of work put into the game would be willfully ignored by those players.
I haven't played Newlife in, oh I don't know, in two years at least but there were already a ton of minutiae present in the game. Most of which had very little impact in the actual game itself. Other minor details like height or clothing options to represent goth or whatever, or heck your suggestions of sexual orientation can all be encompassed via a little imagination or directly through a natural playthrough of the game reflected by your choices made. There's no need to bury the dev under more busy work (everyone has their own opinions here so let's just all be diplomatic, alright?) when fleshing out bigger scenes and scenarios (not just sex scenes) and the progression of the overall plot should take priority. After all, this game has been live since before the F95 site and it's still a WIP with little meaningful change to it since around the time the dev started to implement user-submitted content several years ago.
I respect your opinion and I don't want to dissuade you from voicing your suggestions, but as you say much of what you suggested would be improbable and tough to implement (and that's if the dev would be interested in doing so in the first place). It was a nice post though. Cheers!
Unfortunately not. And by the time SO adds a translation, Spanish will likely be a dead language.Hi. Is there a way to play in Spanish?. Thank you
Someone would have to translate the whole game on his own, for free! And THEN somehow make the author of the game implement that.Hi. Is there a way to play in Spanish?. Thank you
I'm sure some of the content creation processes could be streamlined by improving the code, but generally I think the content creation process for Newlife appears especially slow because of the over-elaborate game design rather than just 'bad code'. I've posted about this in more detail in the past. Changing the game design significantly would mean starting again. I reckon SO should have done that long ago... but I'm not a patron. Why not then use some of that sweet, sweet Patreon money to hire a broke CS student or just some guy who knows Java to do actual work while SO can handle the writing and still collect the lion's share of the revenues? I imagine that if he hired a couple guys to fix the game's code so that they could actually develop content beyond 2 sentences of dialogue or a single scene a month then interest in the game would be rejuvenated!
I'm not a fan of the 'SO is lazy' narrative, but I'm going to have to push back hard against 'SO is stupid'. Coding and writing are very different skills, so being competent enough at both to construct a game like Newlife is impressive, whatever its flaws.I Unfortunately suspect however that he may be too lazy/stupid to even exert the miniscule effort that such a proposal would require.
It's not easy to translate complex text games that construct text from a series of fragments. The fragments often need to be rearranged to make grammatical sense in other languages, which is not trivial. You really need to plan your game with localisation in mind for it to be practical, doing it retrospectively is impractical.Translation should be easy right? Its just the fact that the SO made it so you can't dig around in the game's source code. If he did, a fan-made mod/version would be on version 1.00 already with 50 new scenes with NC included.
Lesbian content seems waaaaay to mild for me, maybe its just me. I thought most people here are like me, if you watch porn for like 20 years then lesbianism becomes boring and you want way more than that. If it was FUTA though then im the first one on boardImagine saying something like that when lesbian is one of the more successful genres in porn.
But more seriously: Ignoring the speed at which new content comes out, lesbian content has won the last vote on which area of the game the dev should focus on (the 0.7 one). So this is very much a you-problem, the patrons are obviously interested in lesbian content.
If you really can't deal with lesbian content, you'll have to wait until the 0.8 branch starts, as that will focus an a different area of the game (again, up to a vote by the patrons).
ew ew eww grossIf it was FUTA though then im the first one on board![]()
I, for one, am fully on board with lesbian sex. I think it's hot, and have been waiting for it to be implemented in this game since the damn thing started.Lesbian content seems waaaaay to mild for me, maybe its just me. I'll confess that I don't know jack from shit when it comes to coding so I'll take your word for it. I still think that my outsourcing idea would be vastly preferrable to the status quo however. Also when I said "stupid" I didn't mean stupid in the sense of SO being low iq or something like that, the words I should have used were "lacking in common sense" since outsourcing the more tedious parts of the project seems like a no-brainer when you've got a cash cow like this but you find yourself losing motivation to keep working on it.I'm sure some of the content creation processes could be streamlined by improving the code, but generally I think the content creation process for Newlife appears especially slow because of the over-elaborate game design rather than just 'bad code'.
