Legitimately, no matter what settings I put it to, the game freezes after I select tutorial. My computer is more than beefy enough, I believe this game is very poorly optimized.

First thoughts on the game so far:

- Animations are very good, lacking cum particles though.
- Animatronics look pretty good, a lot better and way less uncanny creepy than the stuff I've seen people post here before.
- Even with the shadows turned off there's humongous frame drops for just looking in a certain direction.
- Tasks are extremely tedious to do, you have to spend a lot of time running back and forth in a single area which is very very difficult if an animatronic is up there with you.
- Getting around the building sucks because the offices which could be numbered on the map aren't numbered. Have to use that pic the person a couple posts above mine made, still took a while just to find office one.
- The game advertises that there's 4 in-game scenes currently. There's only two.
- Some tasks are just horseshit with details. Getting the wiring kit from the second floor? Okay but fucking where in the second floor?
- Being chased is too difficult to escape from given the game's performance hiccups.
- Collecting VHS tapes doesn't count if you die, which isn't mentioned in the gallery description.
- The corruption just being an insta-lose is fucking lame, what a missed opportunity.

Not gonna lie, for over 3GB's downloading I feel like I wasted my time getting this. The performance is scuffed even with attempts to fix the performance issues and the gameplay loop just sucks. But at the very least the nsfw content... or at least what I'm able to see so far, is good.
any good takes how to utilize the corruption system though? How to make the game loop more interesting? Id really like to read this thread seeing some suggestions how do I fix the issues that people name (as most of them are having their valid point n kinda being clear to understand why it annoys people and makes them really toxic or mad towards the project) so anyone reading this Id like to hear any suggestions or valid points in the discord server or here, feel free to :>

Imagine if you paid for this... The model and animation quality is pretty poor.

EDIT: Saw the dev asking for advice.

List the office room numbers on the map. List the office room numbers above the door that leads to those offices. List the room's name, above the room's door. Like "Changing Rooms" There is no reason a place wouldn't have the changing rooms labeled, even if it was a cheap place they'd still put-up some shitty paper sign. Mainly because lazy places, are even more pissed-off when people can't find places and have to be bothered to show new or even veteran people where places are.

Instead of having to pick-up paper's repeatedly and put them in the basket repeatedly. Get rid of the physics based pick-up system and just let us pick-up multiple pieces of paper and check-off progress as each one is put into the bin from an inventory. In the tutorial I was wondering if it had an animatronic so I kept a lookout. But I also was really really annoyed with getting lost constantly. Even the map in the main area that says, "You are here" in the main cargo area. When you're looking at it, you have to then look-away from it and then go your way. If you look at the map, then go the way the map says to go. You will go right for example and actually be going left on the map. The perfect example of this was I was trying to go to the changing rooms and kept walking to a solo male restroom instead.

Best thing I can say is at least this time your audio balancing wasn't awful. You got it down so far it seemed from your last game.

god... game sure looks promissing but it's so bad optimized that when I try to get to the tutorial second objective task I get a 4fps lag so hard that makes my camera sensitivity go 720º by moving the mouse only one inch

1: Please for the love of god remove the crouch-to-grab-items-on-the-floor. Increase the player's reach.

Or just straight up remove tasks that force you to do this, maybe make these tasks instead send the object into your 'inventory', as per Reapergod36's suggestion.

2: More cameras/better camera visibility

3: Allow players to
use the cameras while hiding

4: Maybe
a better map on the camera system? Something similar to this edit I made? Hell, maybe add a player location marker on it too to help players navigate.

night shift map.png
A different colored highlight when a camera is active, kinda like how fnaf did

steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.jpg

Also,
make it so that TAB also closes the camera.

5: Maybe a stronger 'highlight' system, where players can click on which task they want to focus on which appears on the screen as the current task, the related items are shown on the map and have a stronger highlight around them.

That, or

implement the 'locator' mechanic from Dead Space fully, which you kinda did in the tutorial level but removed for the actual chapters to help players locate the task area

dead-space_marker-line.jpg

6: VHS tapes when collected are collected.

Please don't force players to finish the level to unlock them.

7: More settings, like

an FOV slider and an option to remove the vignette/chromatic aberration

8: Revise the corruption mechanic.

Maybe change it so that your 'three lives' are regained over time?

9: Speaking of time,

maybe a hotkey that allows you to see how much time has passed?

You can't access the task menu while crouched or holding something, and if this was intentional this would be a compromise I am willing to accept.

10. Make the hiding spots easier to spot.

I keep going for the normal lockers, paint them a bright orange or something.

11. Add light switches to the offices.

I can't see anything sometimes, even with the flashlight. Having the option to turn them on would be pretty rad. Actually...

12.
Add more lights to the building in general.

13: This is a controversial opinion I have, but maybe
add a defense system to the generator room activated via camera.

It could come in the form of locking the doors, or an electric gate that turns on for a short while. This allows you to retain the 'animatronics sometimes break the generator/boiler' mechanic, and encourages players to keep track of the animatronics using the camera. Although for less frustration I also recommend adding a warning symbol when an animatronic is on this 'basement camera' so that the players can activate the defense.

Currently, animatronics breaking the systems straight up end games, and it feels unfair that you are forced to fix them manually to continue.

14.
Revise the ranking system.

Please remove the boiler/engine fixed stats.

Personally I enjoyed the game, but I had to do some meta-gaming in order to beat chapter 1 (by timing when the animatronic spawns which is apparently not 5 minutes and is random) and I got frustrated trying to find the VHS tapes only to learn that I also have to finish the night.

Oh I almost forgot
BUT PLEASE FIX THE STAIRS.
I feel like they slow the player down way too much and cause unnecessary tension.

From a game design perspective it absolutely is, because the reward mechanic (being porn, the reason people are actually downloading the game) is directly opposed to the progression mechanic (being not losing).
Not to say you can't mitigate the issue, but it requires the developer to actually put some thought into the reward cycle of the game.
Maybe do something like having each level be a different player character, and the level goal being to accomplish something that lets the next PC make progress. Then you can have failure before accomplishing the goals just end in death, while getting caught after accomplishing the goals gets you the sex scene. Success is rewarded, failure is punished, and you still get to be hunted down by tiddy robot. You can even force people to collect the reward by not actually giving them an exit after accomplishing the goals, or play with the reward by having a secret scene if you escape all the levels instead of running into the enemy to get their reward scene.
It's literally not , you have to look at WHAT kind of game this is . These games are meant as a rape fantasy for subs , it would make no sense to NOT have scenes be for losing . You just don't like that type of game which is fine , but don't shit on an orange for not being an apple .

and even then your argument is STILL flawed both generally AND for this specific game

Even if you lose to get scenes , you also need to progress to get DIFFERENT ones . People who play these things aren't just running up and dying to the first enemy over and over again for the same shit , that's stupid . It's not even just a porn game thing . Half the fun of some rpg maker horror games is to see all the ways you can die like Witch's house or Mad father . the " reward for success is still there " and it's still there how YOU want it since

The game hides EXTRA scenes in collectibles and a high rank , encouraging you to not just do the bare minimum to succeed . How about PLAY the damn game before you criticize it on such a surface level .

As for my fellow robot fuckers, here's my strategy guide for chapter 1.

night shift ch1.png

1. Immediately rush to the changing rooms to clean the puddles in the shower.

Exit the security office immediately, you're on a timer.

2. Enter office 1, print the document and whilst its printing quickly unclog the toilets.

Login:

Scott

ETA123

3. Deliver the documents to Office 9, and start the dish task.

4. Grab the wiring loom, which is this box in the middle of the hall in front of the main office, and throw it down the stairs.

5. Crack open the safe, check the cameras, and also throw the device down the stairs.

Code:

20 , 45 , 0 , 10 , 55

6. Check cameras. If the coast is clear, deliver the device to office 4.

7. Check cameras again. Deliver the wiring loom to the 'yiff room' in the basement, it's on the right of the first room.

8. Fix the boiler or the generator if it goes down, and fucking RUN.

Special thanks to PornushkaMGE for originally posting the code for the safe and the various logins, this run would have taken a lot longer to figure out without you.

1. Having the animatronic taunt verbally (if they do actually speak I barely hear it) and by doing showey displays for the camera, and yes that means more animation work but it'd be worth it. Also give the PC's perspective a little pull towards the closest animatronic if they're in sight that can be resisted with a little effort of just turning the other way, like make it a little disruptive but not overly-so. As the corruption increases the pull could become stronger, and I don't know, depending on the animatronic they could pounce at the PC but missing sends them way off-course and gives a little breathing room. And yes I'm going to parrot what a few others have said and would suggest corruption stage sex scene unlocks. You have two done for the first two corruption stages (0-1) already, so just do another two scenes.

2. I can't clearly say how to improve it but I can tell you what's wrong from my perspective. With such a short sprint meter it takes a loooong time to travel between areas, even more-so with the reptitive tasks with the additional pile-on of having to stop what you're doing to fix the machines that break on the opposite corner of everything else. On top of that the building just isn't very interesting to look at, it's a basic very dark warehouse and a few basic offices with some mascot signs here and there.

3. There is not much in the way of horror-factor with this so I'd prefer it if it a bit brighter and wasn't necessary to have the flashlight on all the time just to see where you're looking at. The game is so insanely dark, and it definitely feels like there's something up with the shadows or lighting when I can play Sea of Thieves just fine but this has humongous frame skips.

4. More visual feedback with the first animatronic. She's listed as fast but clumsy but I don't really feel that in-game because she just homes in on your position like a projectile. I think to make chases more enjoyable it would be better to have her visually react some way upon seeing the player first before chasing them, and then something like a straight line charge in the player's general direction at random but reasonably spaced intervals, forcing the player to go to the right or left to dodge that.

I definitely agree with several people here (albeit I've made the same points in a previous post!) you should revise things like crouching to pick up items (aka remove the need to do this) make picking up items more fluid like say in Source Engine games, .etc

I also agree that the animatronics should be more... sexually aggressive. Flirts, taunts, vocal lines... Something I think about a lot is that there's another FNAF game called Lefty's and while it's still growing, the animatronics will visually harass you on the cameras, they KNOW you're watching and they make sure you can tell what they intend to do to you when they get to your office on gestures alone, something hot and steamy.

That small detail made it a LOT funner just to have them show up at the office, and I think adding it to this game somehow would enhance chases and the dynamic of the player avoiding the animatronic. The person above laid points like this out quite well.

I'd add a camera to the bottom right of the warehouse as well, right now it's a total blindspot and with the place being almost pitch black it's easy to get surprised.

honestly the game is super promising, you cooked. I hope you continue and don't get discouraged.

No offense, but this is a completely arbitrary and incomplete way to view "game design". What you're describing just covers game mechanics, a subsection of game design, while leaving player experience (how the player feels and immerses while playing) completely absent. When making a game, developers have to decide on how to balance between the two and sometimes that means leaning more towards one over the other. This game is an example of that, it's trying to make you feel like a guard who's trying to get work done all while a tall dommy mommy croc stalks them through the halls. It's focused on immersion over mechanical depth. Yeah, if you want to be "rewarded" you could just walk up to her and be done with it and from a cold mechanical point of view that would sound bad and dumb, but from an immersion pov you're compeltely missing the point. To just grab the reward is to ignore the game of cat and mouse, the thrill of the chase. You are ignoring the build up that a lot of people find really fucking hot.

To add onto that your example is just wrong as well? Like, a lot of people like you who dislike game over stuff tend to focus on this idea of "why even bother winning?", why should I try when losing mechanically rewards me? Ignoring the first argument I made, the reason is because that's how you get more porn. You can't just get everything from losing, at a point you actually need to advance through a game to meet more enemies, which means you do need to win and progress through the game. Even in this one you want to play through the levels and win so you can find collectibles and unlock more pinups and stuff.

And hey, if you still don't understand why people like me are into game over stuff, That's fine, but like, you can't argue my dick into not being into it. No matter how "bad" the design is in your mind, it objectively work for peeps like me. Maybe give that some thought.

AGREE like physic based pick up make the game more laggy and tiresome to do on a task that require them

I didn't copy it, I quoted it, I used quotation marks. Why I didn't mention his name, for his safety.
:LUL: A:I wasn't having a dig at you for copying what he said
B:I doubt he needs any protection from a software dev
C: You used an end quote, incorrect usage

If you had your own opinions about the game, you could have just written them, instead you copy pasted his review regardless of whether or not you quoted it
You copied it

valid points, most of them are sure good
I saw the post in the bugfix channel, and I want to clear up a potential misunderstanding:

I suggested the defense system so that the engine/boiler (which when broken can easily end runs) can be defended even when not nearby, and encourage the player to use the camera.

Please DON'T make it ANOTHER system that can be broken and fixed, I feel like the player messing up activating it should be enough in terms of consequences.
