Yes saves can be transferred and even new options unlock, as stated u just need game to run for a bit, I dunno what causes triggers to retrigger but something does. My "despair" was premature

I say yes. Long hair is pretty nice and the new socks are alright. This update focused more on expanding the excretion system. Still, any new content is good content.
