Hookay, cards on the table. I will admit I used NOPY for the entirety of my tenure here at F95.
It wasn't til THIS year I realized it was a site-organized download server run by F95. Whether that was my ignorance or the "Hosted by F95" was more prominent is a fool's errand. It kinda makes those "Hey, we noticed you like our service..." pop-ups sting even more.
Granted, I am intoxicated when I begin browsing this site, so again probably on me for the oversight.
I must say, I am curious on how to remedy this situation. My silly solution: make this the standard hub for all downloads of VN's. I mean this seems to be the biggest site to get this type of content (other than SVScomics whose downloads are atrocious), this seems like a moment to expand rather than admit defeat.
I say, and I mean this with the biggest grain of salt, start charging a monthly fee to browse/be active on this site. NOW with that out out the way, start requesting artists room on this site. Basically take from both ends of the creative spectrum; creative and consumer. I KNOW EXACTLY HOW THIS SOUNDS please bare with me.
If everyone pitches in to the server costs then the excellent download speeds remain. So with creative and consumer being the prominent on this site, I can foresee several pro's-con's:
1. Active creators get advertising to their goals and consumers get direct access to the creators. This should mean the creators' need for multiple hosting sites for their content and therefore costs go down so patreon tiers might go down. (PRO)
2. Inactive creators will get demoted/delisted (Looking at YOU ICSTOR), while those who meet goals/communicate get boosted/listed. (Nefastus Games being a good metric for these behaviors) (PRO)
3. This sounds exactly how Youtube operates. It's the kind of mafioso mentality that promotes bad faith actors and will chew up and spit out lesser creators. This community is too forgiving to some and ruthless to others, this set-up will only exacerbate this behavior. (CON)
4. This will only create the next pirate site. Let's be honest, no one wants to pay for content. I am guilty as sin on this, however I am currently subbed to multiple SS and patreon's because of this site. And this will only begin the next wave of piracy and the cycle begins anew. (CON)
For full clarity; I will list all I have subbed to.
Eolo Studios, game: "My Time for You"
Suzinak, game: "Measuring My Cum"
What?, Why? Games, game: "Power Vacuum"
Nefastus Games, game: "Mid-life Crisis"
Warped Mind Productions, game: "Blackmailing the Family"
Westy, game: "Proud Father"
Doc5252, games: "23 Sisters, Daddy's Little Girls"
Killer7, games: "My New Famlily, My New Memories"
Once again this is to illustrate that I would have never found these artists' work without this site. So if one could use this site as a lightning rod of sorts to bring like minded folks together for the "art" we might be able to overcome these obstacles.
Now I know the main issue is with payment processors. This has been in the back of everyone's mind since 2017, maybe earlier. However... we are a creative group. We should be able to advance past this sort of thing.
And I will re-iterate; I am intoxicated during this post. Take ALL of this with the biggest grain of salt you need.
