Tbh, JAI is already on the downward spiral. They will probably ban NSFW at some point like the previous sites did once they started down this path.

Yeah, it's going to be a paid service soon too. There will still be a free version but we'll see if they still allow proxy.

Wait what?
Where was this announced? This is really bad news... If they keep JAI the way it is right now and keep allowing proxies + provide a premium sub with, say 16k or 24k context or something then ok but it seems like it's going the spicychat route.
If that happens, what's our alternative bros?

In short, seems like Shep (dev of JAI) is running out of funds so he looking for a way to keep the site afloat. He said the subscription are for bigger, better models only. So I wouldn't be surprised if proxy will be under "premium only" later on for obvious reasons.

I've been using kobold. It has an online free and unlimited version. You do have to load a character card but it's very straight forward. Has lots of settings but works well right out of the box as well. "

I've tried a lot of models, including paid API based models from Chub, Aignastic and others. In the end, locally run is a good idea. I don't want my chats kept in the history of some website. I'll take privacy.
If you do want to try 3rd party paid API based chat, I recommend Aignastic. Reasonably priced, some very good models there and they are reasonably performant.

So I tried the Q2 and Q3 GGUFs for Cydonia. Not much difference between them. These are gimped compared to the larger Cydonia quants, but anyways, Stheno 3.2 Q8 fits in 8.5GB of VRAM gave me markedly superior results to the Q2 and Q3 of Cydonia.
I didn't spend a lot of time on tweaking instruct and chat prompt presets, I used the suggested defaults for the model. You propbably know, preset can make a big difference.
That depends on whether you are willing to learn to host your own model. There are plenty of guides out there. If you want to use a service, Spicychat, JanitorAI or Chub are good bets if you need a fleshed out interface and you intend to chat on their site. If you intend to connect to a service over API while running SillyTavern locally, then I recommend Aignastic
I just found out deepseek is proficient at writing foreign langue dialogues. Like being able to write the gooning kind dialogues with slang, curses, and sexual terms in that crude smut lingo.
I guess it might be obvious since GPT is a great translating tool for Japanese porn games, but prior to using deepseek, none of the free models I've tried could even come close to doing it.

Well if hosting a model won't take up space on my laptop and I can avoid paying just to have a better experience with the AI I van learn.
