Would you rather I get it off patron and give you more money right now or to do it once it is on steam and give you less money but add one more owner in the charts? Both is just not fiscally responsible even if I think your game is worth more.

yeah...what is steam's rule anyway? does the game have to be only on steam or something?
As far as I know you can re-sell it wherever you want but it can't be for a lower price. Sales are fine.
By the same logic giving it for free by yourself could be a problem. I don't know how official would anyone count a piracy site though. Personally I would not risk. If someone else does it however it would be a different matter.

well then, if you'd like to you would do me a favor if you waited a month or two after Steam release before uploading the game here

thank you so much for your thought. I don't really have a preference, usually I want to keep my games under paywall only because it would be unfair for the people supporting to not see any advantage. Of course if I could have cash AND publish the game for free, I'd rather do like this way haha

idk. Should I upload a build that is basically a game that is going on steam? maybe I should put here and ask to delete it when the game gets released
I don't see how this would be an issue unless you're attaching a steam key to the game you're uploading here. There's some people that release for free on itch and have it be paid on steam.
The main thing is that you cannot sell steam keys on other sites for less money than they cost in platform. So if you're not selling a steam key, you're gucci.

Edit. From Orbit, for example, is free on Itch but costs 5 bucks on Steam.

That's for their keys. Steam doesn't care much about the actual games since they're IP of the developer. Their DRM and technical support network, that comes with owning the game on steam, is what they care about.
When you buy a game on Steam, you're not actually buying the game, you're buying the license to play it. But a developer can do whatever they want with their game, that's why, for example, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is cheaper on GOG.

I believe you. I did not look into it that hard and only went on by what I heard. The Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition is not the best one as both the base game and DLC cost the same on both Steam and GoG. The only difference is in bundled price. Steam gives 8% discount while GoG gives 10% one. This is besides the point though.

Fixed that for ya.

Its cheaper on GoG because CDPR wants you to buy it on their platform. Initially it was either the same price or more expensive.

Oh yeah they changed the price, should've cheked. On PL launch you could buy the bundle at like 50% the price it was on steam.
