That slight problem you have with that is some people play these after reading descriptions like that and then expect that choice. When that choice doesn't appear, it kinda pisses them off.

That doesn't bring in the players, that leads to shitty reviews and less people wanting disappointment.


Buuuuut, to counter your rather silly argument. When people read a book, watch a move or TV show etc... they do so with the knowledge that 9 times out of 10, the heroes of whatever story are watching will win in the end. Regardless of that, none of us read the books or watched the movies with the hope of having a choice in what happens.

However adult visual novels are not books, movies or TV shows. When presented with an overview that promises people a choice then that's what they expect.

It's misleading and not a good way to try and build a player base.

Kinetic novels are fine, they are just like really long comics. I have more of a gripe with the "sandbox" style games where you have to grind a ton and the story becomes all disconnected. Branching path VN's are fine but sometimes answering like i'm roleplaying doesn't push the story in a satisfying way and im pissed off.
