I love NTR. If only isekai shows weren't such a pain to read or watch, they're really good fuel for NTR.
Not disagreeing with you here, just never thought about it and legitimately curious: what do you think makes them in particular such good fuel for it?

It's a common trope for MC's in isekai to get a harem out of nowhere, and then proceed to never touch any of the women that are more or less throwing themselves over him.
Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu is a good example. KonoSuba probably counts as well, though I haven't checked that one out myself, just seen people make NTR games out of it.

There are also stories like Overlord or Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken where the MC has been transformed into something that either isn't capable of sex or feels no lust, but still have women chasing after them.

So it's basically a genre where it's common to see an entire harem that isn't getting any real attention from the MC, a situation ripe for any enterprising harem-thief.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I'm not a fan of the NTR game mechanic where most or all of the sex scenes happen only in the recollection room. It ruins the flow of the game when I have to play some boring RPGM sequence with perhaps a hint of things happening, just to go to some room later to see "what really took place". I'd rather see what happens as it happens even if the MC is unaware.

I like it best where we get a partial view like what the MC would see, but after that we get the context immediately as the player, without having to go to a separate recollection room.

it depends on the way it is done, generally watching scenes in the recollection room indicates that the game should use elements of voyeurism for it to be interesting. but most of the time most RPG makers just have you see the character comming out of the door and say "sorry i am in a hurry" instead of adding voyeuristic value like:

  • mysterious sounds.
  • sweaty body.
  • erect nipples.
  • rushed lies.
  • wobbly walking.
  • disheveled clothes.
all of these "clues" encourage you to paint a picture in your head then go to the gallery to unlock it. but as I said most of the time it is just your character knocking on the door and the other character saying " I... I am fine, come back later!" then you go to the recollection room and you find out that your girl was playing through flames and fire with the antagonist dick and somehow kept perfect hair and cleanliness. and then you realize that the dev has no interest in investing time in creating artwork and triggers for said things.

a great example is the game I recently played labyrinth of servitude and liberation. unlocking scenes involved a short conversation, with the girl having a sweaty avatar but the clues were just put there for the sake of it. in a way it was as if the dev was copying what others had done without thinking what made the others good. for example in the initial scenes the character comments on a clue about the usage of "vials" that are supposed to be cum vials the character drinks but this never gets depicted in the game. just described as text, and future events still show the vials as clues despite the vials never being used again in subsequent scenes.

these kind of voyeuristic NTR should be treated like a murder game. your character is the detective trying to solve the case of the "sex"

I think people use those harems for NTR because NTR relies heavily on that sense of entitlement people have. harems use that entitlement to other's attention as a given and NTR prays on that feeling to create drama.

the entitlement of your mother's love, your childhoodfriend's love, or your wife's love.

in a harem that entitlement is even worse as the MC is entitled to that affection withouth doing anything about it. I was reborn powerful and with perfect genes, and just being a decent human being should be enough to drown me in pussy.

I like that interpretation. There's a delicious amount of schadenfreude to harvest from an entitled MC having his harem stolen.

I feel like NTR games are same as Harem games one you get all girls without effort and the other you Lose all girls without effort , so i feel Like NTR games needs to improve ( not that they suck i know many prefer it this way and this is just opinion) NTR works better as subplot or as paths in games rather than the entire plotline , Take for example An RPG game where you have to save the world or reunite the kingdom or stop civil war , you meet large cast of characters , and go in grand adventure and form relationship after long journey , then if you make mistakes and trust wrong people , boom the love of your life whom you had long journey together is getting fucked by another's because of YOUR choices and how you failed to protect her

I don't like choices in NTR, the game feels like you have to loose on purpose and that is an insult to me as a gamer. sure you can have plenty of other choices, like getting buttfucked vs oral sex. or having a crappy ending vs a revenge one. but when you show me the obvious archetype of those NTR rangers. and you are asking me to wilfully trust Mr ugly bastard and Nampakun you are pretty much calling me an idiot.

NTR is just a tragedy like oedipus going on an adventure and ending up fucking their mom. the tragedy has to happen because it is meant to be a sad story, not an optional sad route that i chose to go into just because. that is like making an ikarus game and putting the choice "do you want to fly higher??"

I absolutely agree with you and your way of thinking, however, I do not like games with unavoidable NTR, because I want to feel as if I "was able to fix it but I didn't". Instead of clicking on the pink heart option, and getting NTRd, I wanna get skill issued (which is kinda hard bcuz those kinda games are kinda too easy (this is not a brag)).

I like the mystery element and buildup too, but I'd just rather get the porn at the climax of this, instead of having to run out and kill 10 blue slimes before I can rent the DVD.

The sex scenes are usually the weakest part of most of your typical handdrawn RPGM NTR games as well, imo, with the usual static image of some sex position with some text and then the same image with a cumshot. I feel this part is even weaker when its partioned into its own in the recollection room. Might as well watch some better porn and pretend its NTR instead at that point.

I just played Labyrinth of Servitude myself and its very much got these problems. Great prologue but the rest of the game was a bit disappointing.

A game I just played that I feel did it better is https://f95zone.to/threads/being-an-adventurer-is-not-always-the-best-update-2-dynamo.131193/ since you either see the actions taking place as the MC, or you travel around in a ghost mode where you see the action happening in real time. That game is barely a prologue at this stage and very buggy though.

That actually reminds me of a game concept i made once for fun. Where i made a good reason why the bastard(uncle) had to live in the same roof has you(house was destroyed in goblin raid), and where every choice had a pro and con. Like do you go with your GF and the bastard has she shows off the village, or do you investigate what happened.

It kind of played off the player knowing the tropes of this kind of stories, where trying your hardest to prevent the bastard of getting closer just made it easier for him to win at the end.(since the GF found your actions disturbing)

what made you disappointment in the game ?
Lack of content for how long it's been out and overall wasting my time. It's a sandbox for no other purpose than being a sandbox, so all of its features are just pointless and pure filler. There's also this really strange part where you have to play a minigame to progress and buy a phone, and it's literally just having to click a button to earn gold for every click. You can eventually buy an auto clicker for that gold, and I was just sitting there wondering why it was in the game.

To me it just reminded me a lot of Power Vacuum because the humor, the characters (serious older sister, bombshell mom, loving younger sister), and the way NTR is handled. It's wholly avoidable, but points aren't kept to track your relationship with the characters so they're entirely susceptible to be NTRed at any time despite your previous decisions, which makes them feel flat or just plain dumb.
