Hey! I recently played a couple of games in this genre and found myself surprisingly enjoying them. One was more focused on sharing, with the girlfriend heavily pushing for it and one was more traditional (I guess) slow corruption. Strange thing was though that I didn't find myself identifying with either the MC or the bully. Was more like a third person observer and the excitement was generated, similar to something like incest, by the taboo nature of it, like watching something you shouldn't. Curios if this is a common way to experience this fetish or are people more in it for the humiliation/jealousy feelings experienced through the MC?

I like both NTR and incest elements because they're taboo and I also can't self-insert for shit in any medium, no matter how good the story is. And my favourite part about NTR is seeing the internal turmoil of the female lead but it's extremely rare, mostly can only be found in manga.

Along with those examples, Kirito's sister is drugged and raped in the first game, and Alice's corruption in part 2 is based entirely around hypnosis. The other side character girl, (the librarian), also has multiple rape scenes.

The friend of Kirito, (forgetting her name, she has a crush on him), is also raped by Inoda in her first sexual IRL scene. Hell, even the mom is blackmailed by Inoda to start her corruption. NTR Online certainly has a lot of coercion and "sweet-talking", (I'd just call it begging and pity), but there's def a lot of rape too. The weakest parts of the game imo. Granted, I'm not even done with part 2 yet, I just reached that previously mentioned IRL scene which is why all this is fresh in my memory. There's probably more examples past what I've said.

The character needs to be a completely blank slate for me to even consider myself in his shoes. That's probably also the reason why prior to looking into it, I never got why the NTR genre was so hated.

I think this is because the writer cant write convincing relationships. but I have already said several times that the writing is bad. is only the sex scenes that are hot.

I remember the time when I had hope that Hanataka would return. If a japanese dev is gone for more than 2 year, or he's dead or he's never coming back developing again. I don't remember any jp dev who came back after two years away.

NVL format is kicking my ass. Especially since I’m upgrading my game’s visuals to 4K.
Ren’Py doesn’t “properly” support the NVL style, so it’s been a pain coding things to actually work with it.

Making the entire VN in ADV format would be so much easier.
But I’ll be damned if NVL doesn’t look cinematic as hell.

I use a mix of both in my VN. ADV format is more comfy outside of CGs and Akari’s sprites are cute as heck.
Though nothing beats NVL for storytelling, IMO. It’s a shame many Ren’Py devs don’t experiment with this format.

ADV style:

A lovey-dovey meeting between the protagonist and FMC. ❤

NVL style:

A horrible moment where the FMC has been left alone to fend for herself…

The writing is great for an NTR game, and probably the best I've ever seen. If you dismiss it simply because it takes effort to get through, that probably says more about your own patience than the actual quality of the work.

I've played a lot of NTR games, including every top-rated/popular one on this site. I'm only talking about NTR here, not NTS or swinging. So far, my top 3 have been SAO NTR/NTR Online Part 1, Mirage's Defection, and Scars of Summer (not the sequel). Even though FUNS isn't even halfway finished yet, it's already became one of my favs.

I think FUNS is good but suffers from their last game where Aiden imo is not getting enough hints to what is happening. It would be way hotter if he got more hints and saw some things and questioned alot more. The female protag side ofc is where both TTP and FUNS shines because the art is amazing.
