Boy oh boy. You haven't heard of the Summertime Saga legend, have you? About how that dev has been doing nothing for years, only releasing tiny bugfix updates to keep up the charade.
Also, there's been games that were in development for more than a decade, literally longer than F95 forum existed, and still are nowhere near being finished.
Techno is still one of the better ones, despite all of his flaws. He at least finished most of the games he started making.

Wow, this "game" is still alive. It's not a game anymore; it's like the Santa Barbara series. It's about to turn five years old, and the development doesn't seem to be ending anytime soon. Clearly, the developer is both greedy and lazy.

not yet he probably wants to complete everything before continuing the story again in my opinion this was extremely flawed from the beginning mainly because certain characters need context to appear like the elf and the demon lady

The story was temporarily removed from newer versions. Last version that had the story was 0.50.
Dev says he'll start re-implementing the story back into the game starting from version 0.80.
Right now, you can rank up by grinding fame from repeatable quests. 30 fame for rank 2, and 150 fame for rank 3.
I'd say that L&P is worse with "A Wife and Mother". Eight years, and Sophia still hasn't had sex with anyone but her husband. I've seen her give a half-hearted shower handjob, and that's it.
