Unreal Engine - Obsession [v0.1a] [Merc_]

  1. 5.00 star(s)

    Funeo

This is VERY solid for a V1.

The 3D erotic horror genre is something that isn't done well often enough and is one of my favorite genres.

There's only 1 H-scene near the beginning and one not involving the MC near the end but the build-up is quite nice (even tho the dancing naked girl was unexpected).

There are a few "scares" but it's really nothing special (I found the asylum section in Stormside WAY scarier)

Hopefully we keep going the monster/ghost/demon girl route and see where that leads.

Definitely worth a try if you liked TTPP or Horny Asylum

First of all, I would like to point out that this review is for 0.1a and many things may change in the future.

Let me start off by saying that in my opinion, combining a H game with a game that *actually tries hard* to make you jump in fear is just a bad idea.
It would be a different matter if it were actually H characters, but here we have jumpsceres with damn demons from Dungeons and Dragons, which not only looks stupid, but goes against who the game is intended for.

The graphics try to be realistic, but they are simply outdated. It's not a big deal when it comes to surroundings but the milf just look dated (But not bad) and yet this lady is supposed to be the main attraction. Optimization, as usual with Unreal, is not very good. - The game does not lag at lower settings, but it consumes a lot of resources considering its appearance.

Gameplay is simply going "from marker to marker" where it is worth noting that often the markers simply do not appear and the game, for example, wanted me to go answer the phone, probably after the sound - It's a bit bad considering that I am deaf xD

Details are also irritating, such as the fact that we have to walk around in the dark with fucking matches, when half of the house is filled with candles that could be lit, illuminate the whole house, or even be picked up and light our way much better.

The game also has a lot of bugs, which I won't pick on that much because of 0.1, but some of them are very nasty, such as approaching a closed door and getting stuck in the "Locked" pop-up message loop (Because of which I didn't finish the demo. Just got stuck...)
and the only thing in the game that actually scared me was a bugged tree creeping with its branches in the corner of the room - I can't remember the last time a game scared me, and the tree didn't even intend to do so...

So 2.5/5 stars for now. If the game develops, I will come back and change the review.
    Best of luck, Merc_
