It's hilarious how before this update everybody was complaining about condoms in the game and how much they wanted to get rid of them and now that you get the choice they're complaining it feels out of character lol
First of all it's an option you choose, so if you feel it's out of character for Lena DON'T pick that option, then your Lena will be coherent with your perception of her. I'm sure you will be able to get rid of condoms in a more timely manner as the story progresses. But I'm glad the choice was there for those horndogs like me who want to play a more slutty and forwards Lena.

In any case, I'm glad we have the option to make Lena go bareback rather than not having it because some people think it's out of character. If you think it is, don't pick that option at this stage of the game and do it later! It's the beauty of this game!
Think I was one of the first to yell - wtf is with the condoms here and only Jeremy is going bareback on everyone.
However, the story is moving on and we get more insight into characters. Lena is not on pill so the decision to just let Mike do it bareback and creampie her is a bit out of character here. True, you can always say the lust got the better of her but by what we know about her so far it is a bit dubious.
Imho Eva needed a way to get chars on the pill at some point so they can all start doing it bareback so maybe this was one of the triggers?
Although I thought that Eva planned to gradually introduce bareback with the increase in trust and emotional connection between characters in the future.
Maybe she should have introduced a "trust" stat or trigger for this?

Huh, I kinda missed a part of that message mentioning Axel by name, I thought it just ended - working with my favorite photographer.

However, it remains to be seen if Cherry is the one. I have my doubts about this - Cherry's character is pretty solid and I can't imagine her being a nasty bitch plotting with Axel to mess Lena up and knowing Lena is his girlfriend with whom he lives together. It just doesn't add up.
She did mention she is messed up and not looking for anything serious. Guess we will know more in the future.
It's entirely possible that Axel made a move during a photo shoot and she never knew he was in a relationship with Lena. That could also explain her current stance regarding the possibility of getting into a relationship if she realized she unwittingly became the one to destroy Lena's and it was due to a guy being unfaithful, rendering her somewhat gun-shy about any kind of relationship for the time being.

Agreed.

And, as someone said before, the whole Mike’s scene is “gated” not only by multiple player choices but also by a quite high lust requirement, so while for some of my Lenas (that just the last update were blowing Robert at their workplace or touching herself during Seymour’s photoshoot) the scene didn’t feel forced or out of place at all, for others it wasn’t even possible to hook up with Mike to begin with (it happened in many of my routes, as a matter of fact), and the rest of them always could opt out the scene if it didn’t feel right with their current path.

Beyond the hook up same goes for the bareback sex or the creampie: she was horny as fuck, regaining her sexual life we know has been on a limbo for some time but was not precisely boring beforehand, and receiving a good pounding maybe for the first time since the game started (she cums three times with Mike). Things got out of hand and shit happened, nothing new under the sun.

I would also add that on a metagame level ORS works strangely well as kind of a moral litmus test of we the players double standards: It has been seen with people reaction to Alison perceived slutiness or Jeremy’s actions, when already at this early stage we can have Lena or Ian behaving in a not dissimilar way. Here, I think, Eva is showing us how under the “right” (or better said, wrong) circumstances anyone can not only be cheated on, but also be the cheaters or –as in this case- the third person someone is cheating with…

Story progression wise it also makes sense, at least for me. Lena has been cheated on and is butthurt -pun intended- about it, but now she can find herself being that third person someone cheat with, even playing the role of the “temptress”; next stop being her the one who cheats, almost for sure. Because it doesn’t matter how angelical Lena is your mind (and surely you’ll get to play her that way!), more than probably there will be a route where she evolves into some kind of serial cheater, same way her moral compass has started to change in others and she’s able to, for example, steal from Molly and Ed. Lena’s paths have already started to diverge.

She has done a good job but the "everyone" bit is a bit of a stretch. I'll always prefer GGGB purely for the playable character.

I know a lot of guys prefer playing their own gender when it comes to things like this but the same can be said of some of the women folk, specifically me.

...

With this game i'm invested in one half of the story and rushing through the other half to get back to the parts I enjoy.
I didn't mean in my post that Our Red String is necessarily a better gaming experience for everybody (which I assume is the word that made you take my point the wrong way). All people are biased in some way and can't like the same things or like something to the same extent.

It's perfectly fine that you like GGGB more for the possibilities it opens for you to make Ashley whatever you want her to be. The difference between Ashley and Lena is the fact that Lena has her own defined personality, while Ashley is a blank slate, a vessel for the player to insert himself into her shoes. My comparison between GGGB and ORS wasn't about which presents more freedom for the player expression (we pretty much established that it's GGGB). But which game has better-written characters and a more believable narrative? Our Red String, hands down. I know that because I played all paths in GGGB, and the only path that is not written like your typical porn is mostly good Ash. But if you play Bimbo and Thug routes, it's obvious they have no depth and take place in some fantasy land with porn/trash movie logic.

So, it's okay if you like GGGB more for subjective reasons, like only having one playable character or being able to make sweet love to reformed Jessica (which is the pinnacle of GGGB writing). But when it comes to pure writing quality and more believable storytelling? GGGB is limping far behind. If you want to challenge that, you'd have to present less biased arguments.

And the fact that I'm a male and can play as Ian has nothing to do with my love for ORS, because I love Ian's and Lena's stories equally. Even though it's easier for me to relate to Ian, I'm invested in Lena's POV even more because I already understand Ian's character but I'm curious to get to know what Lena has to go through in her day-to-day life experience, so I can learn from it (and I did). I empathize with Lena more than I ever could with Ashley.

It's not an accurate observation. While it may appear so from an outside perspective, the actual issue is not about whether or not Lena has the option to go bareback or not or allow Mike to cum inside her or not. I think those choices are in fact handled quite well. When you're in the middle of sex, sometimes the influx of happy hormones makes you careless.

The actual issue is with the choice to seduce Mike and how the writing of that choice handles Lena's character. That's just not something that Lena, still fresh after her break-up with Axel, who cheated on her, in her right mind (she wasn't drunk), would be comfortable doing. Or if she is, the game failed to explain why to fill the blanks for us. The canon Lena we've seen so far is a very compassionate person who, despite being interested in Ian herself, regardless if she's fucking Robert or not and regardless of her Lust level, tries to empathize with Holly and show restraint with Ian, even though she doesn't have to when it's clear that both of them want the same thing.

So, being the compassionate person that she is, Lena, after realizing that Mike has a girlfriend, would most likely take a moment to reflect on things and respect his dedication, being glad that there are still men with integrity, instead of going out of her way to try desperately to seduce him like some bitch in heat. It's not about "If you have a problem with this choice, why take it". The game so far tried really hard to write consistent characters. So, any choice that is presented in the game, should be consistent with Lena's character. If Lena can seriously choose to make Mike cheat on his girlfriend, the writing should've better conveyed Lena's logic and motivation behind this choice so that we could actually understand why she goes through with it like it makes us understand why Ian might want to go for Emma or Cindy. Instead, we are left to guess and come up with a rationalization.

And after that choice, when Louise needs her help, in no way would Lena choose to fuck this stranger instead of trying to help and comfort Louise. Not after seeing a completely different Lena just in the previous update. Getting his number and parting ways makes the most sense in that situation. The only route in which going through with her seduction of Mike would be consistent is if:
a) Her relationship with Louise is poor;
b) Her interest in Ian was low and she decided to friendzone him;
c) She was fucking Robert all this time and he awakened her inner slut.

If these were the only conditions for Mike's scene to happen, I wouldn't have so many problems with it. As it is, it's accessible to any Lena, as long as she has high enough Lust score. The only scene that goes completely against Lena's previously shown behavior, regardless of route, is her trying so hard to make Mike stay for the night or at least for the shower. That dialogue was pure cringe in my playthrough and I can't see any possible reason for Lena to behave this way. And unlike the previous choices, this dialogue happens without any say from the player so you can't excuse this writing using the argument of player choice. We needed at least a couple of more updates where Lena gets some character development so that she can arrive to that point a bit more naturally.

I created 12 Sigs. of the game, 2 with the format of the previous Sigs. and 10 with a new template that I just created, between the new ones create 3 Sigs. of the male characters because I seen all only do Sigs. of the female ones and the boys need love too UwU. I hope you like it :)

And was that in any way hinted in this update that it's in fact what Lena's motivations are for seducing Mike? I can come up with multiple different justifications, too, but IIRC, the game didn't provide any explanation for Lena's reasoning for making that choice other than "Mike is hot". And I'm interested to learn the canon justification for Lena's behavior in that situation.

Stealing from Molly and Ed was another jarring choice that made me question things. I know Lena's desperate for money but backstabbing the few people who always treated her nice, especially after having a genuinely wholesome conversation with Molly, was out of nowhere. It would make more sense if the option to steal came up immediately during Ed's shift, so she could blame it on anger triggered by being fired.

It’s possible you’re mistaking YOUR canon Lena with THE canon Lena that I would argue at this point doesn’t exist anymore? Because yes, you’re right about Ash being much more of a blank slate while Lena is a more fleshed out character, but I think it’s clear she can have evolved in different ways since we first met her.

The compassionate person you talk about could perfectly at this point been not at all that nice, and even rude, with Holly (discouraging her to the point of being dismissive at the gym), Stan, Louise, Cindy, and even her own mother; behaved really unprofessionally at her restaurant job and borderline criminal stealing from Molly; becoming more and more horny as time passes; and not interested in Ian at all…

Regardless of that the whole Mike’s seduction I think is explained well enough through Lena’s inner monologue (it always could have been done better, that’s true): at first she says how she needed to feel sexy and empowered again, to check how she hasn’t become rusty at the game, then she gets more horny while dancing with him, and later while having sex she confesses to herself how she has enjoyed acting slutty and seducing a guy that has a girlfriend: I don’t think there’s a big gap to fill by the player in order to relate that to Lena’s own past regarding Axel, she even recalls him while being fucked by Mike.

Sorry I was just typing another post that I think cover this, but yeah: I think Lena’s past with Axel plays a role in her seducing Mike. I don’t think is that far-fetched to assume, and that enough hints are given through her inner monologues.

For example she thinks, and I quote: “I felt so naughty... Making this hot guy I had just met cheat on his girlfriend with me... I knew what I was doing was wrong, but I felt empowered and so turned on. Mike's desire for me was too overwhelming for him to control... And I enjoyed getting what I wanted. Especially knowing I shouldn't have it. But he wasn't able to deny it to me. It felt great... for all the wrong reasons”.

While she also reminiscences about Axel during sex comparing Mike to him. So I don’t think is an out-of-the-blue rationalization to think Lena is, at least in part, motivated by this.

Did anyone notice the unintended time skip in this chapter? I mean one day it was sunday april and then the next day it was monday june? Am I crazy or is this just an error?
Lol, true. There is an intended and explained in-game small time skip: monday and tuesday are bussines as usual for Lena and the game skips to wednesday's live gig at the record store, but that's explained with a couple lines of dialogue. But what the heck happened to May? Heh, I guess it's just a mistake.

No, to me the CANON Lena is whenever Eva Kiss controls her, i.e. as NPC when we play as Ian. And then later, when Lena retells those events in her POV, whichever excuses she uses to justify her behavior as NPC, are canon to Lena's character.

She might act discouraging to Holly all she wants, but when we play as Ian, she still avoids Ian's first attempt to kiss her, 100% of the time, and later tells us how talking with Holly made her second-guess whether she should pursue Ian or not. If Lena was indeed motivated by Axel to get what she wants and feel empowered, then it doesn't make sense for her to deny herself that kiss 100% of the time just because Holly expressed her interest. That desire for empowerment should've then override her guilt and instead attack Ian with her lust first, like she's able to only when we shift to her POV to call Ian, but she can do that only if Ian kissed her first, therefore clearing her conscience of any guilt she might've felt in relation to Holly's confession.
And I would've been fine if only Lena who has poor relationship with her friends and acts based on lust (fucked Robert, no interest in Ian) is able to seduce Mike. Without those restrictions based on her previous choices, this plotline feels jarring.

Okay, but the quote you mentioned in your second post kind of excuses her behavior after the fact. What was her inner monologue at the moment she learned that Mike has a girlfriend, that normally should discourage her from going further? I don't remember seeing the same level of hesitation that she felt on Ian's date, her actual dialogue was very bimbo-ish as well, overly flirty and self-imposing. Compare to her behavior with Robert for example. Sure, he can make her feel hot, but she's rather dismissive of Robert most of the time, rushing him out of her house, often not giving him what he wants or simply using him as a boy-toy. With Mike, it feels like she's somewhat star-struck by him, like it's important for her self-esteem to have him submit to her charms at any opportunity for no particular reason

As plenty of people do!

I mean, as I understand it, Lena is enjoying seducing Mike and being a different vertex of the cheating triangle this time around WHILE it is happening, but only admits it to herself (or realizes it) AFTER the deed is done. I think many of us don’t over analyze our behavior in situations like that in the heat of the moment, or are brave enough to face our true motivation on the spot. I don’t think that’s unusual at all and Lena’s inner thoughts lack of addressing the issue at the club reflects it.

Or maybe we just have very different point of view about people mores, I don’t know. For example (and I forgot to mention this earlier) there’s nothing jarring to me about a girl –or a guy, for that matter- asking to a guy that just has get her to cum three times in a row to spend the night or share a shower: she just have had great sex and wants round two! What’s so strange about that? Again, I don’t think that’s unusual at all, but better let’s agree to disagree also on that one :)

The Louise scene is a good one. (Although, there could be consequences as she seems to be a bit clingy... Unless you like that of course!) Protip: try to have Lena's Charisma over, I think, 3.
hey just wanted to know why over 3 charisma? I had exactly 3 charisma when I did the scene between Lena and Louise. Does having over 3 charisma open up a new dialogue option or something?

A combination of high Lust + Charisma lets Lena teach Louise about pleasuring women. Possibly hinting at dominating Louise in the future.
