Stan is the only legal renter of the property. He's the one who signed the lease agreement with the landlord. Stan rents out the two spare bedrooms to Louise and Lena. That's why he's the only one communicating with the owner and signing documents.
Early on, Lena points out that the arrangement is good for her because the rent is cheap. If Lena and Louise move out, they likely will have to rent a shoebox since they are broke.
Unless she/they get/s a flat from Seymour, which would make her more dependant on him.
