I am a little curious as to what it was like back then. I looked back to when I first started posting and realize that it was during chapter 11 that I first began to play.
It could be that EK is writing very slowly so as not to spoil an erotic adventure. It is much easier to lazily throw in a shallow sex fest than to slowly tease your way in the mind gaming fashion that the LSD arc demands.

Not much has changed from back then until now, with the exception to the reworkings of Stan and Wade, and Billy's whitewashing which to this day hasn't been explained. Ever since around Chapter 6 and the start of the reworkings, things have gone from a story that could have had either Lena vs Geymour or give into it, and Ian go either way with his writing or martial arts, and firmly build up the pairs and characters already in the game (which EK had said in a FaQ that she wasn't going to expand on the cast of characters at the time because there were already too many, lo and behold that turned into a lie) through each chapter, has turned into what we currently see now.
I know that; I was having some fun. Excepting the work load, there is no reason we can't both be satisfied via branching routes. I do not play a porn game for romance.
I like cherry but she is a plot device for lena. thats why her story is not that interesting.
What? Have you played her full route? She reveals quite a bit about herself during and after the art gala, gives her a lot of the depth she was lacking prior. She also has one of the better responses to Ian's moon pic on the beach.

And then after you start her route, you have to wait 4 chapters for her next scene (not counting sexting). That is if you haven't swapped to Alison's. Most of her scenes coming from chapter 9 and onwards is no coincidence.
Not that it matters to the discussion or at all but EK did explain in a Patreon Q&A a couple years ago why she turned Billy white. The reasoning however was really poor. If memory serves it was something along the lines of "there's already a black character in the game" or that she didn't want it to be too similar to GGGB with the playboy black dude and his friend spitroasting white girls. Her answer was posted on this thread at the time but I can't find it. As for the change itself, hey at least it didn't take like 6 months to basically only change a character's appearance amirite Stan

Yeah I remember Alison's threesome with Jeremy at first being with black Billy, before his rework. Didn't think that many people cared though, as his personality was unchanged and he's a minor side character so does it really matter if the dude is black or white lol
A large segment of Eva's patreon supporters are into the BBC kink so yeah it did matter in the sense of the optics Eva wanted to avoid, whatever her reason for that is. Just look at the last character poll where a dude like Marcel, a character without a real personality or presence in the story, got into the top half of most liked male characters. And that's with the bland and sexually unimpressive Jeremy in first place too.
The funny thing is that Jeremy is likeable enough bro/friend character and he works well as that character. So he is fun presence on other routes specially if you want him to succeed with Ivy.
Fair enough, maybe my perspective is different as a woman, I don't really find him that interesting as a friend to Ian either, but that might be impacted by how he treats Louise early on. That of course is seen through Lena's pov so not relevant for Ian to the same degree.
Yeah it also felt a bit forced how it just popped up randomly. I'm not too offended by him as a casual sexual option, but that's mostly because I have so many objections to Lena's other male options.
Yeah, I was mostly talking about Ian's perspective. He is a piece of shit on Lena's perspective that's absolutely true.
Its just absurd how terrible most of Lena's choices are when the best people are Ian if you decide to play him as a decent person and maybe Stan who is one moment away from becoming complete incel.
