Behind the scenes art process: Holly and Ian
Cindy's scene was probably the most awaited and hyped one, but I knew Holly's first scene had to be something special, too. I had been waiting 6 chapters to finally draw her (although she had a mini scene in chapter 6), but that meant I was not used to drawing this character. And I HATE drawing glasses!
Holly has quite a different body type than most of ORS girls, but thankfully I found some good photo references. Holly's hairdo is also very characteristic, and as you can see in the first thumbnail, I sketched those defining traits and any other needed elements. Once the composition was set, I started drawing the line-work. I've noticed my lines have become quite clean recently, and that's even more noticeable in the drawing I'm working on now for Chapter 8).
Thumbnail number 3 is what I got back from the colorist. Basic colors and volumes are there, but as you can see the illustrations looks incredibly bland and life-less. This is when I add all that ambient lighting and additional detail to make the final illustration really pop, but in this case it was especially challenging. My first idea was that the scene would only be lit up by the moonlight, tinting everything with a blue color and pale highlights. In my mind looked great, but it didn't translate well to the screen. Thumbnail number 4 was on of my firsts attempts, but the result looked rather boring to me.
In thumbnail number 6 you can see me experimenting with adding a contrasting warm light source, to make the image more eye-catching and interesting. The source would be the lamp on the bedside table. But trying to add it in a "realistic" way resulted in a muddied colour palette that was not selling the image at all.
Finally, I decided to scratch that "realistic" feeling I was trying to go for and make the colours more abstract and dramatic, as you can see in thumbnail 6, which is the final in-game illustration. I pushed the idea of warm vs cool light contrast, making the colors way more saturated. The impact of this can be seen more clearly in the two first images of the scene, in which the background is not a game asset but just the bed sheets, that act like a big canvas. I painted it with these contrasting colors, the cool blue on Holly's side, while the warm touch was on Ian's, symbolising the heat and arousal he was awakening into Holly. This is even clearer in the second image:

Normally the ambient light pass is pretty straightforward, but I took a few days working on these until I found a solution that I thought looked cool and was also thematic. I like the results and I'm looking forward to try and do some more scenes with this more "abstract" look. When the bed covers such a large part of the image, the placement of the wrinkle lines in the drawing is also very important, but also very subtle, and I struggle with that often, too. If I could take more time with the drawings, it's an element I'd like to play with and explore more, too. Could you imagine the characters having sex over a beautiful abstract painting, their feelings and emotions solidified in the bed under their bodies? That sounds way too artsy, doesn't it?

Anyways, once I had found the way to make that work for the two first images, the rest were way easier. Here I had to combine the bed with the actual background, which brought back a more grounded feeling, but the colors still tint the image pretty strongly, in this case, directing the viewers eye to the most important part of the image, Holly's face, which expression changes throughout the scene.

Is it coincidence that Holly, a witty character, had me put so much thought into her scene? Not all scenes have such a lengthy process as this one, but I hope you found it somewhat interesting. Did you like the scene? Do you think the final result stands out from the other scenes, or you didn't notice any thematic change?

To clarify, "Buddy" i wasnt talking about Wade but Ian and Cindy, their relationship doesnt need to end and probably will not. Cindy is so popular in this game so of course EvaKiss wouldent make that happen. Yes Ian will feel guilty and cheap but their love will conquer and unite them again because its a game (so far) without tough choices. And when i talked about real life i was refering to your streetwhore comment, Then it is alot of streetwhore´s out there or you are just being really sensitive

i agree with you, it should not necessarily lead to a negative outcome, but i think it will take a huge effort from Ian to turn this downward spiral around. after all being banged drunk in a pissy and dark side alley, while in a stable relationship with your BF, is usually not the dream women have when they imagine the start of their romantic relationship with their prince charming. i guess. else i have to radically review my opinion on how women click.

we all know that there is a lot more to this situation than the appearance suggest; but who ever listened to the "It's not what it looks like, please let me explain!" of a adulterer caught red-handed?

a corrupted Cindy x Ian will have scenes for sure: i am looking at you Axel x Ian x Cindy. and stuff like Seymour Shoots. perhaps in a way those sexy scenes are even easier to get and more frequent with a corrupted Cindy. by foreseeable future i meant specifically ch.8 and ch.9. with the right choices Ian should be rolling with her again at the latest in ch.10, corrupted or not.

i think with the right effort you can bring back even a corrupted Cindy to the LovePath, much like Eva and Jessica in GGGB, but in one way or another she will be scarred.

I generally like Ian and enjoy playing him, but I would find it funny having an option of an Ian playthrough where he gets way too ambitious and overconfident, and ends up loosing Cindy to Seymour and/or Axel for being too casual and encouraging them, Holly to Lena for not telling Holly about him and Lena, Alison to Jeremy and Cherry to Perry for not giving them enough attention, and so on.

in Ch.8 Ian will be mainly occupied with damage control. like gisgus mentioned it is not unlikely that Ian has spread his ressources too thin, playing too many fields at the same time.

Well, Eva has done things like that before. Not exactly "ruining your chances" more like "make the relationship evolve in a different way" if you rushed to get all the sex scenes the first time they're available. In GGGB all Dave's route was sort of like that, an Ash that goes for him too hard or doesn't plan ahead accordingly would get to have some sexy scenes with him but won't be able to have him as boyfriend. So, talking again about Cindy, though I don't think Ian fucking her this last chapter will ruin his chances with her forever, I wouldn't be surprised if it makes her (and their relationship) evolve in unespected ways...

you are correct, i dropped the [v7_follow_cindy= True], since technically it is set already in the club, if you choose to follow her. we can probably drop the two sexpositions, so we are left with three interesting choices.
My speculation about them were

1. Ian doesn't kiss Cindy: probably the safe/neutral/coward choice; both Paths or NoPath
2. Ian kisses Cindy: probably opens the LovePath with Cindy
3. Ian fucks Cindy: i guess that is the bad choice, probably opens CorruptionPath

i am not the author, i don't know how they will be used. it's just speculation, as always, i can be wrong.

wade_cindy represents strength of Wade and Cindy’s relationship (taken from BloodyMares WT) with values 0, 1 and 2
If wade_cindy= 2, then[ian_go_cindy= False]by default
i guess thats the requirement that the fight doesn't happen?
we had several choices to tinker with that variable, to bring it down to 0 and to get it up to 2 again.
as long as Cindy and Wades relationship persist, it should be possible to continue to influence this variable.

Regarding Cindy, we'll have these status quos for her in the next chapters:
1) Cindy is salty that Ian couldn't come to Wade's birthday party (Ian x Holly), that might have variations depending on wade_cindy relationship.

2) Wade and Cindy continued the night at the club (good friend path) - wade_cindy = 2. Has variations depending on the dance. If they had a simple dance (ian_go_cindy = False or < 2), then probably the CindyxIan won't continue and they'll just be friends. If Cindy grinded against Ian, then the path will continue, but how it will develop is up to Eva. - slow burn path (IanxCindyxWade?)

3) Cindy had a fight with Wade. Relationship with Wade will depend on wade_cindy. If wade_cindy =0, then it might be their breaking point. If Ian went after Wade or did nothing, then Axel might have approached Cindy - we'll probably learn about the outcome from Jeremy who saw the two of them talking (doing more, leaving together?).

4) Cindy x Ian:
- Didn't kiss: Might result in slow burn path, but with poor/no relationship with Wade. Perhaps Ian will be able to help Wade further if wade_cindy = 1, but Axel will continue being a threat.
- Kissed but walked away: Romantic path with Cindy (?)
- Banged Cindy: Lust path with Cindy (?) Prediction: In the next chapter regret and guilt as well as fallout with Jeremy/Lena. Cindy might be hostile initially because she'll want to blame Ian for what happened, not willing to accept that they were both willing participants. Ian will probably have a choice whether to persuade Cindy to continue cheating or to leave it as a one-time event. I doubt relationship with Cindy will be compromized, but it may be the case with Jeremy, Wade, Perry and Lena (through Ivy).

Nice find. But I'm really glad Eva customized Lena and edited the look a bit. I mean, I wouldn't kick this girl out of bed for eating crackers, but the painted-on eyebrows and botox lips are blah. She could be a sweet, brilliant person IRL for all I know, but the look itself doesn't scream depth.
