New backgrounds
Chapter 9 will feature 2 new backgrounds. Or, more precisely, will feature a new background and retroactively add another one:

The amount of backgrounds is always a limiting factor when writing scenarios for the game, and they take time and are expensive to produce. This means I have to work with limited resources, which can make some scenes look out of place from time to time. This was my impression with the shopping scene in Chapter 8, where I could only show the main street background as the girls bounced from store to store. I felt having a shopping mall background adds to the experience and opens up new possibilities, since it's a place that the player will be visiting several times during the game, so I thought it was worth it to invest in getting it done.
About the other one, I'll let you speculate for now!

New bedroom I'm going for either Cindy or Lena's mum. Never in a million years is it Holly's because as a writer she would never have something so trite as 'Live Laugh Love'.
Totally agree, plus I imagine that Holly's bedroom would be a bit more cozy, possibly with some little fantasy trinkets about the place, maybe something that could pass for Harry Potter memorabilia (a wand, a replica sorting hat, student's Howart's robes with scarf, something like that). A poster from some fantasy franchise on the wall. A desk with pens and journals on it. Also it would have a big bookshelf, for sure, and maybe a comfortable, worn old chair with a throw pillow on it.

Like you, I can see that being Cindy or Lena's mum's room. I can't recall if Cindy lives with Wade (at his place), or if they have a house together, but Cindy seems to make enough of the decisions for them that the design could be hers. However, I think the style might fit Lena's mum a little more. I can see her being released from the hospital but being prescribed bed rest, and that's where that scene comes in.

I think Cindy's (and Wade's) room would have a bedside table on both sides of the bed.

I'm betting it's either Lena's childhood room or Alison's, she lives with her parents.

The thingies above the window remind me of the conversation Lena and Holly can have about Lena's lights she said she missed from home.

I think the interior could match with both Cindy and Alison, but my guess would be Lena's childhood home – either her own bedroom or her parent's bedroom. If Lena begins chapter 9 by going home, it would necessarily include at least one new background from there or the hospital, wouldn't it?

This bedroom is too fancy to be Lena's childhoom room, way too large. Is Cindy, Alison, or someone else from the cast.
What makes you say that? It doesn't look any bigger than any of the childhood rooms where I grew up.

First, it looks very spacious. A huge bed, spacious wardrobe, etc., I get the general vibe it is a room that certainly do not belong to Lena, maybe her mother? But then it looks very youngish and girlish to me, not something that suits an old woman. Lena's family is very poor according to the plot, I imagine her childhood room is half this size, with a single side bed not a queen's bed like this.

Are they poor as such? My memory of what their situations is, is just that they have a hard time meeting the medical bills with Lena's father who's sick and no longer working.

I always assumed they weren't always in such dire straits, given that Lena used to be a student and she can clearly afford the rent for a nice room in the city till now.

Again we have a game of "Whose room is this?"

So 'very poor' is when your children only have small rooms for themselves?:D

They own a bakery. So they should be doing OK.

Awesome! Isn't it! :)

But why would a childhood room have a double bed? That would apply to Lena's, Holly's and Allison's room as all of them are at their parents. I agree with BlandChili that a couple would have 2 nightstands.
OK, time for deduction! We know it is not Lena, Ian, Louise, Stan and Axel because we already saw them. We can safely disregard Seymour. The missing second nightstand removes Ed/Molly, Cindy/Wade, Mike and Minerva. If you also remove Holly and Alison that leaves Robert, Perry, Jeremy, Emma and Cherry. Now why would there any need to see Robert's or Perry's bedroom and I really can't see Jeremy in there. Cherry would fit into that room but I doubt she is important enough to justify a own room. Emma is not a good fit either.
So no one really seems to fit. That's why I still go with Lena's childhood room. Her parents just remodeled it a bit after she left to use it as a guest room.
I concur though that Holly's parents seem unlikely to provider her with a double bed.
