Just a small reminder that you can move your cursor over someone's username, press "Ignore", and then be freed from that person's posts forever.
Works great if you, like me, are tired of people who 1) are intellectually incapable of understanding the meaning of the word "promise", 2) pirates someone's work and then can't understand why that person just doesn't hire more people, and/or 3) just make up some fake deadline as a premise for their whole post (or a fake release date for the previous update), and then complain that the update is [random number] months late.
Ok, let me play your game, because just like you I am tired of people that think they have more rights than others or think that they know the absolute truth and their level of intelligence is higher.
1. That "promise" thing is not set in stone. "I will be disappointed if I don't deliver that by Friday." "I will do my best to deliver that by Friday." "I promise that I will deliver that by Friday." What is the difference? People treat promises or any other statements about future actions differently. It doesn't matter that some statements carry a higher probability of finishing that action. Once you read "by Friday", some expectations are set. And when those expectations are not met you will be disappointed.
"kick myself in the teeth" was also discussed a lot. Why is it so hard to understand that there could be a language barrier. Not everyone will go on Google to search the meaning behind those words. One could just translate that word by word. I will hurt myself in order to do that. Which could lead to the image of someone that will work really hard in order to achieve something. Usually when you hear someone saying that, you are assured that they will deliver at the specified date.
On the other hand, she clearly stated that the update will be ready when it is ready, immediately after. Nothing is set in stone. Stop handpicking the words that suit you better.
2. "You are a pirate, stop complaining." I don't understand why people feel like this carry any weight on this forum. As far as I am concerned, Patreon doesn't matter on this forum. Yes, it is a source of information and data, but just that. Here everyone is equal, everyone is a pirate, democracy at its best. Why would someone opinion matter more here, just because they support someone on Patreon. You don't like what is discussed here, then stay on Patreon. Don't tell others that you are more special and that their thoughts are not important.
"...can't understand why that person just doesn't hire more people" - I don't understand why the US politicians don't find a way to build that high speed railway between LA and San Francisco. Other countries could do it, just look at Japan and China. Why can't they do it too? They should hire more people. - I am not from US, but I can have an opinion about this topic because it interested me. Simply as that. As long as this is just an opinion and you don't go and hire assassins or make death threats, it's fine.
3. Who made up fake deadlines or fake release dates? I haven't seen any of those. Is true that some people calculate the whole development period wrong thought. You either go from alpha to alpha or from final to final when you want to see how long it takes for an update to be developed. Or go from final to alpha if you want to find out the initial period of development. But for this chapter, let's not forget that it was summer. At least 2 to 3 weeks of personal time off are expected.
Anyway, you almost said the same thing, beside the fake dates.
End note: Pffff! I wrote a story here. I will go to do something better with my life.
