Does anyone have a stable save collection? You would think that of all people I should have one, right? But nope. I mostly relied on debug mode when it comes to testing and now I'm seeing the error of my ways, because to accurately test the game, I need actual save files with routes that I don't have... And I'm freaking tired of replaying this game from early chapters. Even holding Ctrl is getting exhausting. So, if some of ya'll are so bored and can't wait for an update, maybe you could help me make some saves with some of your favorite routes for Ian?
each save has different routes and are at the end of chapter 8

Considering it's always the writing that's the biggest hold up and the most work for her it seems that investing in a writer she likes would be wise. An extra programmer surely wouldn't hurt either
In my opinion the writing is the one thing I don't think she can hire someone for. Maybe helping her with basic ideas (depending on what she does or doesn't have planned yet, although I assume she has it pretty well planned), or preliminary drafts providing the final draft is Eva's -- because it'll be noticeable if it's not, and not in a good way -- but that would probably be the extent of it without the player's experience suffering in varying degrees (mostly in the way of immersion).

Nobody has the same 'voice' (unique, personal style of writing) as Eva, nor would anyone understand the characters and plot as intimately as she does - especially as all characters and author creates embody some aspect of themselves, or an aspect or personality they feels emotionally connected to in some way, which no one else is going to understand in the same way). It's Eva's plotting and execution through her writing that gives the game its unique tone (and make the sex scenes so good), and what sets this game above most, if not all, other adult games on this site; what take it from being 'just another adult game' to making it stand out as an example for what a great adult game can really look like.

So yeah, I really hope she doesn't hire anyone to help her write - pretty much every game I've seen with multiple authors feels disjointed from one author's writing to the next, or has you favoring one part that a specific author wrote (whose unique voice resonates with your taste) rather then allowing you to enjoy the game as a cohesive whole.

Again, this is in my opinion, and from my experience.

Chapter 9 weekly status report (8)
Hey there,
not much new to report about Chapter 9 other than I'm hacking away at the last bits of writing, I still have one major scene to finish and a few other exposition sequences to fill in the gaps. I'll try to finish as much as possible this week, hopefully leaving only the testing and some small visual tasks to complete.

I'm getting there, I hate to reiterate but thanks for your patience and be sure that the episode will come out before the end of the month, that much I can guarantee. Meanwhile, let me know what pairings are you hoping to see in this chapter and which scenes are your most anticipated ones.
There are so many pairings and scenes I would love to see that I'm not even going to list them all.
In fact, it's faster if I say which scenes I don't particularly look forward to.
I'm not super interested in scenes which involve Minerva, Alison and Robert... other than that there's a whole universe of possibilities that I can't wait to see. I will lean towards corruption and NTR-ish routes, but I will explore alternatives with interest.
The wait has been hard but I can't really complain. This game is worth the wait for me.

Just a small reminder that you can move your cursor over someone's username, press "Ignore", and then be freed from that person's posts forever.

Works great if you, like me, are tired of people who 1) are intellectually incapable of understanding the meaning of the word "promise", 2) pirates someone's work and then can't understand why that person just doesn't hire more people, and/or 3) just make up some fake deadline as a premise for their whole post (or a fake release date for the previous update), and then complain that the update is [random number] months late.

FFS that's why I can't take any of you clowns seriously. You realize just because she release the [alpha] she doesn't start working on the next update right ? She works on the current still until the [finale] version. You know ? To fix it ? Sometime to add arts ? So, yeah, you're wrong. But please continue to cry. I'm sure it will help the release to get out faster.
Jesus guy can't accept
calculate wrong and then still talk like shit
first release that mean new version come out
What you're saying right now is just an excuse.

what do you want to say ? " please countinue to cry "," will help the release to get out faster "
any word all of your said just like loser in real life xd:)

Also if you understand what I'm explaining little boys.

Ok, let me play your game, because just like you I am tired of people that think they have more rights than others or think that they know the absolute truth and their level of intelligence is higher.

1. That "promise" thing is not set in stone. "I will be disappointed if I don't deliver that by Friday." "I will do my best to deliver that by Friday." "I promise that I will deliver that by Friday." What is the difference? People treat promises or any other statements about future actions differently. It doesn't matter that some statements carry a higher probability of finishing that action. Once you read "by Friday", some expectations are set. And when those expectations are not met you will be disappointed.

"kick myself in the teeth" was also discussed a lot. Why is it so hard to understand that there could be a language barrier. Not everyone will go on Google to search the meaning behind those words. One could just translate that word by word. I will hurt myself in order to do that. Which could lead to the image of someone that will work really hard in order to achieve something. Usually when you hear someone saying that, you are assured that they will deliver at the specified date.

On the other hand, she clearly stated that the update will be ready when it is ready, immediately after. Nothing is set in stone. Stop handpicking the words that suit you better.

2. "You are a pirate, stop complaining." I don't understand why people feel like this carry any weight on this forum. As far as I am concerned, Patreon doesn't matter on this forum. Yes, it is a source of information and data, but just that. Here everyone is equal, everyone is a pirate, democracy at its best. Why would someone opinion matter more here, just because they support someone on Patreon. You don't like what is discussed here, then stay on Patreon. Don't tell others that you are more special and that their thoughts are not important.

"...can't understand why that person just doesn't hire more people" - I don't understand why the US politicians don't find a way to build that high speed railway between LA and San Francisco. Other countries could do it, just look at Japan and China. Why can't they do it too? They should hire more people. - I am not from US, but I can have an opinion about this topic because it interested me. Simply as that. As long as this is just an opinion and you don't go and hire assassins or make death threats, it's fine.

3. Who made up fake deadlines or fake release dates? I haven't seen any of those. Is true that some people calculate the whole development period wrong thought. You either go from alpha to alpha or from final to final when you want to see how long it takes for an update to be developed. Or go from final to alpha if you want to find out the initial period of development. But for this chapter, let's not forget that it was summer. At least 2 to 3 weeks of personal time off are expected.

Anyway, you almost said the same thing, beside the fake dates.

End note: Pffff! I wrote a story here. I will go to do something better with my life.

She could potentially have someone though to keep track of the plotline, each variable, what every character has done thus far, etc etc so hopefully Eva wouldn't have to keep track of it herself or possibly getting confused and just worry about going forward. Or potentially to write side stories for things she personally isn't interested in or has the time for. (Like the Ian gay content it seems people really want)

I'm not sure. I believe Eva has said Gillian won't be in the game so we may never know who she ran off with. Could just be some random person

The game has eight chapters already and that means a lot of variables and side storylines to keep track of. This is made worse because we have two protagonists with player agency. The scope has grown, but the developing team hasn't. There's not really much choice here. If Eva wants to maintain continuous releases, at least one of those two things needs to adapt.

Shrinking the game's scope would be the cheapest. It could start as simple as trying to group different variables into one. In the worse case, this could mean scrapping out content from the story. Which I don't think any writer is happy with, but it might be necessary.

On the developing side, an extra programmer seems like a waste to me, Renpy is not that hard that you can't write right in the game's code from the beginning. Outsourcing to another writer with programming basics may be the best compromise to help reduce the workload, but it may come at a cost of changing how the game feels.

I think the impatience is a true sign of the quality of EvaKiss's work. People are passionate about it and come from a good place when they worry that the scope of the game might hinder the progress of the storyline being bogged down by a multitude of variables and paths. But some people just hide behind this good intention to whine about the developer not meeting the deadlines even if there's proof she's working on the new update. The problem of this forum is that some people act entitled when actually their sole contribution is demanding the new chapter.

The difference is that the the two first statements aren't promises. The last one is. If people don't even read the whole posts, but just skim through for a few keywords, then they're lacking the context to give a qualified opinion. People can treat statements however they want, but that doesn't affect the meaning of the statement.

She didn't make any promises about any release date before this week's update, where she promised to release it by the end of the month. That's the facts.

Here everyone is equal, everyone is a pirate, democracy at its best. Why would someone opinion matter more here, just because they support someone on Patreon. You don't like what is discussed here, then stay on Patreon. Don't tell others that you are more special and that their thoughts are not important.
It's not about someone being more important than others, it's about simple logic. This is Eva's full time job. She, as everyone else, needs money from her job to survive. And if she's going to hire more people, it requires even more money. She's already outsourced colouring, background pictures and programming, so we know she doesn't mind spending any excessive funds to improve the game. So: If the people who pirate her game and say she should hire more people, instead started supporting her on Patreon, she probably could hire more people to release more frequent updates.

Just a few pages ago someone said the update was three months late. Which would mean it would have to release after two months, one month less than the previous updates. Saying it's two months late wouldn't make any sense either; Eva never said this update would take the same time as the previous ones. Probably intentionally, because she had some weeks off and knew it would be hard to compensate for that.

And yes, I completely agree that counting from alpha to alpha or final to final is the only reasonable way to count each chapter's development time.
