After spending about 3 weeks in Out of Touch I think It's perfect time to write a review.
Most AVNs are narrated from protagonist's point of view for better immersion which makes you feel surrounded by love from bunch of hotties. Out of Touch is absolutely different case. Still remaining focused on MC (yeah, yeah, harem game, keep it your mind) OoT expands the narration across multiple (all?) LIs. And it's fucking awesome! It killstwothreefour birds with one short: A) Filling the plot; B) Characters development; C) Relationship development; D) More hot renders with hot girls. Well, it can prevent you putting yourself in the place of the protagonist, but... Why you should?
Such a concept requires some effort in writing to keep it all together and hold your attention. And yeah, Story Anon is really good at this. Conversations between characters, characters internal monologues, exclamations and bawdry. All of this make story alive. I've also noticed that, particularly, the Volume 1 has several keywords: care, belong, family. CJ used the family word so many times that I wanted to open game files and rename him to Dom Toretto. But honestly, I enjoyed this NLP.
Not only words tell you a story. The graphic part does it too. Renders are made in Koikatsu, but I've never seen such camera work and image post-processing in AVNs before. These camera angles and visual effects have important part in storytelling too. Out of Touch really looks like a psychedelic movie or anime.
Sweet renders should have sweet girls. So, they are. Finally, Koikatsu-based game with 18yo girls, who LOOK LIKE 18 YO! And they are different! Cute little girls I LOVE LEAH, extra THICC girls I LOVE LEAH, girls with strong back muscles I LOVE LEAH, and well-balanced girls but my heart belongs to Cro.
Besides appearance, all girls have likeable and different characters (with one common thing). Well, maybe some of them are over-dramatic, but if we dig deeper into their story we can find the reason.
What about story, Mark? Well, game overview says that Out of Touch is something between melodramatic teen comedy, psychedelic thriller and existential horror. And it's true. Started from weeb in a good way melodramatic "teen friendship problem, the story goes through deep paranormal thriller with a lot of references to Greek, Celtic or Japanese mythology and after that lands in hot lewd stuff. Someone says, that "initial" part of story is too long. But I totally disagree with that statement. Firstly, a moderate pace of narration helps to develop characters better. Secondly, this "initial' part has a lot of hooks from future events. During my second "playthrough", I've facepalmed myself with a scream HAHA It makes sense now! Moreover, from Volume 1 to newly released chapters the story has picked up pace noticeably. And I feel myself really excited about this.
Lewd stuff? Uhhh... It's not animated, like in the most of AVNs from F95... Ugh, come on, Koikatsu animated sex doesn't have anything special! Animation is replaced with more appreciable things: camera angle, dialogues, visual effects and... music?
Yeah, music! Out of Touch wouldn't be itself without amazing soundtrack. Dope synthwave and catchy future funk tracks arranged in their right places. Original soundtrack... I cannot find words to describe how awesome it is. LI themes fit their characters perfectly. Aine theme... Tears are still welling up when it plays in my mind. But it's not about sadness. It's about... I dunno... Delight?
For now the only thing I regret is turn-based combats. It should be presented more. Boss fights will be a great addition to story. And game script has a lot of insertions connected with combat system.
What should I say in conclusion? Play Out of Touch! By Story Anon and Snow
