Alas, can't get fishing to work. Dots appear when fish is near lure, I click, (various amount, I've tried) is there a trick or is it a bug/malfeature. It's hell completing the fishing quests with the occassional random pity-fish you sometimes get.

Any help appreciated. (I've even sunk to trying to debug fishes into inventory by ctrl+j, but that don't work either (or I'm doing it wrong))

Throw the lure in front of the fish. It'll go sniff at it for a while, then bite. After it does that, you click to reel it in.
