Yeah. Being in Unity I know we *could* do a bunch of screwy things like that (tie patreon login to download additional content, etc), but honestly I think the right move is just to make a great game. If people like it, hopefully they'll support it. Either by buying it on steam (and leaving a review, if you like it) or by becoming a Patreon (we give out steam keys at $6 patreons and above).
We provide some advantages beyond that; I know we should do more to upsell, but to be honest most of our patreons seem to come from here, steam or itch.io, and they're backing the game despite already having the content, just to help us make more game. Having spent years in Free-2-Play mobile hell it's refreshing that my interests (make a great game) and our players (please make more great game) aligns, without the need for any screwy psychological tricks, deceptive marketing or other bullshit.
I've often said I lost my soul making mobile games, and I started making porn games to get it back. First with Making Movies, then with Love of Magic (which continues as the thing I spend pretty much every spare hour on), and then with convincing my day-job and Chase that we should be making adult games instead of mobile F2P.
