according to subscribestar payouts take 14 days you must have a minimum of 150 dollars built up and 5 active members .....
It's more like 30-60 days from my experience. I'm in the US and with a legit bank (BoA).

SubStar is just a Patreon for Alt-right commentators, pedo-adjacent developers, and conspiracy theorists. The size of its userbase reflects that. Which is fine, obviously, but the issues lies in both the awful support and demands they make to work with you despite being the Walmart version of Patreon.

"We don't work with you unless you have a following already", they take months at a time to respond to any emails from developers and consumers/clients alike, they outright ignore you if you're new, and that's not even getting into withdrawing minimums knowing that most accounts sit idle. That's an awful lot to swallow for a platform that largely comes off as both anti-user and consumer.

Don't get me wrong, both Patreon and SS have their own issues. But Patreon at least holds up their end with a modicum of consistency.

I just know that Patreon seems to be on a wild craze of shutting down accounts and pure censorship of content ,Art or renderings that do not include real people should not fall to censorship ......I get if it was real people then of course banning censor it what ever Im cool with ... but bestiality has been displayed in art for centuries going back to cave paintings. so if a guy or gal wants to drawn a Minotaur or a dragon humping a human female or make a 3d depiction of it, he or she should be able to do so without
some arbitrary BS judgement . and those that don't like it just wont support it instead of ruining it for those that do.... my 2 cents on the matter.

Could be something temporary perhaps or they are just unreliable. I've only had good experiences with SubscribeStar's payouts. It only took me one or two banking days to get my money the two times I've withdrawn. I'm in Europe (Sweden).

Yesterday, another dev said he's not gotten his payment for 4 weeks because of some issue SS was trying to solve. Meanwhile, they sent my money on Nov 27 and I got it Nov 28.

The trouble is, it doesn't matter at all what perverts like us think about their "censorship". Pateron is a public company that must comply with the law of the countries they operate in and the demands of their upstream payment processors.

The only reason there is any significant adult gaming presence on Patreon is because they grandfathered in some of the bigger games (summertime saga etc) and in general they fight to try to keep that money making avenue open.

There was an interesting analysis about patreon I read via Hacker News a while back, which went into detail about why it is such a borderline business. tl;dr: it's all about the small payment amounts - the average supporter is only paying $6 or something per month, and once the money goes to the creator and the payment network, there is like <50 cents left to pay for patreon overheads. and that doesn't cover much time for user support, OR human-in-the-loop reviews of games, handling creator appeals etc. So they tend to rely on anonymous tip-offs about "bad" content. And the definition of "bad" is forced upon them by mastercard/visa - western (US) moral panic about porn. Given all that, it's remarkable that it works at all.

The only real way forward would be some sort of payment system that is outside of all the traditional credit card system - i.e. something like an easy to use "Monero <-> real money" exchange system, and a simple way to make regular monero payments to registered devs. Unfortunately, such a system also enables the truly "bad" stuff like actual real life pedo's or snuff porn or religious extremist funding - so if you build something like that and get any sort of traction, you are going to have the governments of the world chasing after you.

So what's the result? All the games on patreon are either "vanilla" or will be taken down soon. There is one shady eastern-european alternative that has super high charges, bad support, and won't deal with small fish. Some devs try to survive via itchio or whatever. The true fetish stuff is given away for free because there is no way to monetize it.

So, I have this same experience recently. I start patreon just two days ago. Just to have it...I do not have any connection for payment. I just started creating. I mark my account as "for adult" and recently I get warning to put down my adult content :D I thought that if I mark my page as "adult page" it means that it is with erotic content. So..here I can post my game. Right? :) Sadly, I want to use patreon for promotion and put there some high res pictures (maybe for wallpapers). Now, I can still put there girls in bikini, at least...

You can publish adult content but it has to be behind the paywall that is all.

True but using Patreon for marketing is a bad idea. Patreon is useful when people already know how and where to find you. They support you because they have some confidence in you. Creators are not discovered on Patreon.

I have to agree there. I'm just getting things rolling on my adult game. And Patreon, SubscribeStar and Ko-fi are just ways I plan on fans to send me money. They won't be for advertising purposes because if you put adult content up, you're not searchable. At least I wasn't. And I didn't want to fight about why some adult producers are searchable and get them taken down. You can post dev updates like a live journal, and maybe some pure text stuff. But you should probably obscure your real stuff like on your own website that is linked through a discord server. And then have your discord server linked to Patreon and Subscribestar so that paying members get links to your updates through discord.

But you need to find other sources to advertise. Deviant Art and f95 zone are probably pretty good places to start. Hentai-foundry might also work if you do 2D art for your game and you post artwork there. But again you have to be careful of what you post and make sure you go with the ToS. There's probably other sites that you can post to, where you post some in game pictures, like maybe some images of cut scenes.

Streaming is also a good way to do some advertising, basically stream your development and there are actual people who look and watch for that type of stuff. Picarto might also be a good place to stream (advertise as you make things), since they do allow adult work, and have both art and game development categories. But discoverability sucks there. If you're doing general SFW stuff like designing a city, or a combat system you can even use twitch or youtube. Both of those have better discoverability, but you have to be damn careful which parts of your game you're showing. And you should at least age restrict streams. I've seen some videos on youtube of people working with the sex less Daz3d models and they haven't been taken down yet.
