Patreon poll question

I have a question with the polls in Patreon, I hope some of the developers around here can help me with their experience.

I've assigned different number of votes according to tier, but looking at the poll options I see that there is no option to have control of this.
The only solution I see is to do three different polls to be able to give several votes to who is assigned to them, but it seems an inelegant option.

Any recommendation on how better to do it?

Thanks in advance.

I think you're asking if higher-tier patrons votes can count more than others. As far as I know, there is no way to do that on Patreon. You can limit a poll to certain tiers of support.

As CC said, I don't think there's a way to do what you suggest without a different poll for each tier. What I suggest, may be what you mentioned already, but to be clear, I'd do, say you have 3 voting tiers, a poll for the high tier, a poll for the middle tier, and a poll for the lower tier, the high tier would be allowed to vote in all 3, the middle tier in the first two, and the bottom tier in only their own.

As long as, in the post for the polls, you explain to the upper tiers that they need to vote in each poll to get the full weight of their voice heard, you simply need to add your higher tier results to the bottom tier results.

Sure, it's not as efficient as a single poll, but it works.

Yes, that is exactly what I was asking.

Exactly, this is the only way I've seen to do it

Thank you very much for your answers! ;)

One of the Patreons I'm on (Prywinko) puts up a poll, and gives e.g. $10 tiers +3 votes and $15 +5 votes. So everyone votes once on the poll, and the higher tiers can then add a comment or send a PM saying e.g. "+3 for Option A".

At the end, the extra votes are added onto each option's total, and the creator announces the winner. It's a bit manual, but not outrageously so.

I actually kinda like this one, because it allows the creator to perform limited shenanigans if a couple results are close and they prefer the one that slightly lost (comments are public, so anyone can add up the extra votes, but only the creator sees votes added via PMs). I figure creators do their best work on the stuff they want to do. ;-)

I'm sure Prywinko would be happy to tell you how well it works for her, problems she's had and so on. She's always been pretty friendly in all the correspondence I've seen with her.

Yes, this another possible solution but I think it's too manual.

I checked Prywinki patreon page, awesome work, but I don't even want to imagine the work that he must have in counting votes with more than 350 patreons

Since idea is to do at least one poll per month (chick of the month), I think it would be better to have an easier system to recount the votes... although now at the beginning with few patreons it would not be a problem do it manually :coldsweat:

Thanks for answering!
