I thik you need to start new game if I'm not wrong., because of changes. Still haven't try update tho.
Well what I did was, I downloaded the full game then started from the start...another thing is the save location is actually
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming but I couldn't find the saves there...So I just started from the start and skipped all the way to the newest update.
yup exactly that. Did you manage to find your previous save files? I couldn't find it. Didn't play a lot of games in this engine so don't know much about the file system and the save extension name. Let me know if you find it.

Patch should actually work from 0.9 to 1 and saves can be reused. I tried it and was working fine.

Do you know how to create a local server in your machine? Its very simple really.
I think its easy in Mac. Used to work in mac in my Job days, what I used was node js. installing a package called "serve" and then serving any folder you want. That folder will now act as a www folder.
I think you'll already have apache by default.
