Ren'Py - Photo Hunt [v0.19.1 Extra] [Moochie]

Great renders, story, and general dialogue. Plenty to do in this game with different routes you can take for characters, and also some side content not necessarily impactful to the overall story. Only ever ran into bugs twice and they were fixed the next day or so. Curious how it will end with the amount of women you're in a relationship with at this time. Not too much negative to say: 10/10

7/10 good story. Wonderful models. Sometimes a wonderful expression of emotions on his face. But satisfy. The work is not very exciting. The event search system spoils the whole impression. The places are short, unexpected and most importantly I lost my logic .. So it rather led me to disappointment. This can ruin the whole job. There is no continuity of actions that mc does. Some events of advanced nudity and touches jump the basic story where even a girl hardly communicates with me. When it comes to working on this, it's a clear 5-star work. It lacks a smooth course of connections. So gameplay is search and repeat. Sad. The big plus is the length of the story and the possibilities. He wants to rearrange it so that it is even more exciting in places. I can't help anymore, that's my impression.

Really awesome game. Really beautiful looking and for a game called Photo Hunt it's really great that the dev has a tremendous eye for getting good shots. Some of the best renders i've seen in a game: well framed and great looking. The art style of some of the models may not be everyone's cup of tea but the craft is undeniable. Not just a great looking game either. Easy to play with a ton of varied and interesting content. Want to romance all the girls, they've got you. Want to be a scummy low-life and turn them all into sluts well you can do that too. The characters are all great too, funny, likeable (or not for the antagonists) and well written. There's some tropieness to some of them, like the bitchy sister but the dev is aware and works around it well. Some really heartfelt moments in the romance paths and some really uncomfortable ones in the corruption paths; these types of games that can elicit those types of feelings are few and far between. The paths/stories are all well done and interesting too and there is a ton of side content. The world the dev has built feels alive too because there are a ton of side characters , it's not just the MC, and his LIs. The presence of other guys and rivals may scare some away but the presence of all the other characters makes the MC's story that much more three dimensional. And the H-scenes there is a ton of content so the paths can seem like a slow-burn a bit but you get there eventually, there scenes with animations (which range from average to great) and some scenes without, but nearly all of the scenes are hot even the teasing ones. Overall one of the best games on this site and one that i highly recommend

TLDR
Pretty average game in terms of gameplay for what you would usually expect from such games. Average story with a lot of cliches and plot holes in it. Very good artwork and some decent animations though.
Good points

• The models are all very appealing and likeable, the textures are very high quality and you may only notice some animation flaws or some hair weirdness in a couple of renders, otherwise it is almost perfect.
• The renders are top notch. As the name of the game suggests, they show models in a lot of positions and from various angles, a significant part of which being creative and rare for such games.
• The game has some animations and they are all pretty well made. But there is not enough of them and the moving textures often clip inside each other.
• There is well enough content by this time, you can spend upwards of 20 hours of the game completing all storylines.
• Most of the girls have "routes", which drastically change how the interaction with the said girl happens. This allows for 2 playthroughs if the player choses all different routes the second time.

Bad points

• The timeline is split in 4 time frames being Morning, Afternoon, Evening and Night, most of the activities are only available in a certain frame. Almost every activity advances a time frame but some do not. This is rather primitive way of creating timeline as of today, because taking one photo and using 6 hours for that is not what you would expect.
• The story events of the girls are very intertwined, so even with the guide which literally tells me what exactly to do it is still rather hard to follow. Without the guide I found myself visiting every location available in every timeframe just to see if anything triggers. The default hints are not helpful. For example, for a certain event with one girl I have to advance the story line of another girl by 30 events, buy her a phone, then receive message and click on it to read. Only this will further advance the storyline. Well, good luck figuring it out yourself.
• Some of the girls have very little content. Like Grace, for example. With that insane amount of content Jennifer has it is so strange that Grace only has a tiny bit of it, like a placeholder. I understand that the developer wants to add new content in rather big chunks, but it leads to very uneven distribution of content between the girls, and the girl you may like the most has the chance to have nothing to do with her.
• As stated above, the animations have minor flaws with texture clipping. Also some of them make no sense from the point of lighting. But this is visible only if you pay attention.
• The system of girls interacting with each other depending on the route they are in is very cool, but it obviously requires the dev to create a huge amount of possible options for every dialoge. And the dev did it for some girls, but not for all of them. To compensate for this, the fork where the player can chose either route for many of the girls happens very late in their storyline and before that they all act the same.
• The stats don't really help much. I understand that the developer clearly intends the players to level them, but the stat checks never actually tell what level of the stat is required and below that level the player may not even know that stat check was performed. Sometimes even if it is performed the player gets no notification that this particular stat check was there. Why to make such a complex stat system only to use it so little?
• Almost none of the choices really matter. From my experience there are these types of choices:
  • Choice of route for a girl - strongly outlined that this one matters. Only happens once for every girl at max.
  • Choice of render. Results in a different render at the end of dialogue. Very slight hints to this (if any), but scroll up option quickly allows to rollback and check if it this type of choice.
  • Choice of extra stat. Chosing a certain option only increases love/obedience/whatever to +1 or +2. All of these stats can be easily grinded to any level, so practically it doesnt even matter.
  • Choice which does nothing. Sadly, there are many of those. Although they hint at a different approach in dialogue, in fact literally nothing changes after first 2-3 following lines. Why would one add the choice there in the first place?

Summary
To summarize, pretty average game with its share of advantages and disadvantages. Most of disadvantages are bad design choices made at the start of the developement and they will never change. However, with every update the game grows better in content and it may eventually compensate for it. But this game is not perfect by any means.

Good Points
+ Art style is unique, and kind of interesting.
+ Newest sex scenes, and sex scene animations are quite decent, even tho animations can still use more quality, better physics, and better facial expressions for characters.

Bad Points
- The start of the story is dumb, and forced, makes it whole ''sandbox'' thing pointless, and makes hard to like the MC as a player especially with how MC thought it's okay to buy camera from shady old man asking for pictures of school girls while changing, and he would face with no problem at all to take pictures of girls while they are in school changing room, which he failed, and he ruined his name in school, everyone started hating him, and earned big debt because of it. This is not a small matter, it even shown on TV, so it affects a lot of stuff, but it happens at prologue, and as a player in this ''sandbox'' game you have no control over it.
- The whole path system is messy AF, first of all almost every character path is connected with other characters, and that's terrible design, first of all it breaks the whole sandbox formula, and takes the freedom it should give the player, like why I need to complete step #63 of another character to progress with a character, that's just straight up nonsense AF. Secondly it opens scenes you wouldn't want with certain love interests, like how Alice's corruption or even love path forcing some scenes involved with Evelyn. Another thing is paths not being like they should, writers of this game has no idea about what Love Path or Corruption Path are, Love Path has nothing to with Love Path at all, in fact some paths like Alice's Love Path can only be called Madness Path at best especially with those Evelyn scenes, and Corruption Paths are even worse. Same goes for other characters, Evelny with lots of nonsense scene has nothing do with Love Path like her drunk scenes or her scenes with Mirslav or how Rachel's path ruined even before starting it, or Kira's nonsense scenes like the one with Leroy, or Tom, etc. Long story short non of paths feels like what they should, and the game lacks some serious romance, so it has no variety at all, not to forget most content is forced as well like you being forced to choice Model or Pornstar route for Evelyn, and have no option leave things as it is, like she already has good job, she don't need any of this, but nope, you are forced to it.
- Some characters, and their content are really annoying, and stupid, like Adrian & Bobby, and how you have no choice over they acting buddy-buddy with the MC, doing some nonsense sh*t, like Adrian coming MC's home, taking pictures of Evelyn's ass without her seeing it, etc. And same goes for MC's father, and his scenes with some characters, and literally getting wasted on him or MC having option have some of his ''leftovers'' or Kira's constant stupid, and obsessive act over Evelyn or Trish coming after MC, and Evelyn instead of going after Harry, and blackmailing the Evelyn for money.
- MC's character design looks awful, he looks like 30 years old on cocain or something like that, especially what's wrong with his neck?
- Evelyn's character literally makes no sense, no one can be that stupid enough to think they can just get drunk over, and over again, pass out in middle of streets, then think nothing bad will happen to them.
- Text is not centered, it looks bad, and makes it harder to read, which is big CON considering this is a game where you read a lot.
- We have big portraits of talking characters on HUD, it looks bad, and distracting.
- Hint system is annoying, and not informative enough, you can buy more informative hints, but that's sold with ingame money, and that means more grind, which is terrible decision.
- Camera hud while taking photos is harcoded, and you can't hide it.
-We have pretty basic and cliche story.
-Even aftet two year some of main girls still dont have enough sexsual content at all... I dont even want talk about it...
- Despite the game being 6-7 years old some of characters don't even have any content at all.
- Gallery is useless, you can't even hide text/dialogue while watching scenes.
- Visuals, and animations starts meh at the beginning of the game, becomes average little later, and becomes quite decent at later parts, even tho it gets better that means you gotta suffer bit to reach there, and not to forget not all sex scenes are animated either.

For The End
In the end this was a game with good potential, but it's ruined by poor development, aside from letting out some steam with Gallery wouldn't suggest wasting time on it.

Kinda boring grindfest for little reward. This game didn't have a natural flow to it for me. Maybe it was the sandbox aspect which I usually don't really mind, maybe it was the way the story unfolds with the MC who is just a straight up creep, can't really put my finger on it, it just didn't keep me interested in playing it more.

5 star rating, fully deserved. The characters are well written, the art is excellent. My favorite one, by far, is Monica. This is the first time I've played a harem game and decided to stick with only one lady. Sweet redhead MILF, that checks out almost all of my boxes. Really looking forward to seeing more of her in future updates.

Excellent Game!

Pros:
Great Renders. No shitty one-liner/pun/humor script. No instant loss because you chose the wrong and clearly not obvious choice. No time limit quests that are impossible to complete unless you grind without sex scenes. Putting more points into a stat will allow you to not need to guess. Warnings because a major unchangable event/path.

Cons:
Sandbox is a little irritating. Some characters (Kira) and events literally cannot be found unless you use a walkthrough or cheat. Phone hints dont list side events. Have to play the game twice or cheat because there are 2 routes for many characters. There's corruption/blackmail but no sleeping/drunk sex or rape.

Overall: 4.5/5
A lot better than 95% of porn games that exist

Fun game, I'm glad I started late because the content was addicting. Trying each character route has been interesting. All sorts of girls to pursue. I'm looking forward to see how each story continues to develop. Great job dev.

Reasons you should try this game:
1. The art is top notch of its type. I hesitated a bit as the characters looked a bit too exotic to me, but ended finding the visuals pretty enjoyable and arousing. The scene is well-set, the body rendered with details. The visual part of this VN is at least a 8/10.
2. The writing is enjoyable - not the 'what a line I wanna reread this' level good, but the dialogue does not feel cliché for an incest story, the character has psychological profile complicated enough to feel alive but not too twisted to kill the mood. The interaction between Mom and her co-worker is intriguing. I'd reckon the writing beats some 70% of the 5-star VNs on this site.
3. Very little grinding - where the event does repeat, it comes with interesting change of dialogue or new visuals. The stats is well set such that you experience the joy of accomplishment without too many repetitive clicks.

Reasons you might not wanna try it:
1. It's a typical peek-touch-foreplay-…-insertion build-up, with events and tasks in between. You might wanna save it for later if you are looking for a quick release.
2. It’s a sandbox, which means the events might not be triggered in the order the author intended. A boy I've only met once turned to my front door one day calling me his best bro and discussing nudes of my sis which I've never sent him. Nothing too harmful though, actually only a flaw which shouldn't stop you from trying.

Other information for reference:
The content is plenty (v.0.11.2a), I've not finished the game but would estimate there's at least some 30 hrs quality play. The sound is there but nothing recommendable. There are some decent animations.

There are many excellent things in this game: first, for me the best renders in this kind of games; second, the many "lewd options", that are very well done and are of various type; third, it's a funny game. Five stars are absolutely DESERVED. On the contrary there are some flaws: some characters make everyday the same things, regardless the evolution of the storylines; the path with some girls isn't well relized (i.e., Jennifer: maybe the best evolution, but "it falls from high", or Melanie, she makes the same two things, but we don't know nothing about her). In future I hope evolutions in the storyline with Evelyn (one of best characters in any game, maybe my favourite, even if I would have preferred she wasn't a family member), Jennifer and all the storyline of the whorehouse.

One of my favorite games on this site! I really like the characters in this game, as well as how it looks! Every character has a fairly unique characterization which makes their storylines very fun to explore. The absolutely stunning visuals were what made me check this out and the story is what made me stick around. After keeping up with the game for a while I have decided to give the game the appreciation it deserves. 5/5

Currently I only fully played the Evelyn path since its the most interesting one imo, so my opinion is mostly based on her path . A lot of these games usually fall into the problem of getting into the sex scenes way too fast, which results in the rest of the game being the characters just mindlessly having sex over and over, which gets boring pretty fast and leaves no room for any further development.

However, this game manages to not fall into this issue pretty well by not having the girls jumping into the guy in the first 10 minutes and actually doing a lot of build up before any sex scenes occur. That is usually my biggest issue with these games and since this one doesnt have this problem, for me it just deserves the 5 stars, gj.

Honestly? One of the best visual novels I have ever played. And I don't even like visual novels in the first place!

There's no grind, its just a step or two away, and the girls reward you along the way without spending 2 hours clicking away to only get a pump and dump in 5 mins. It's a motivation and I appreciate the devs for doing this.

I'm an amateur photographer as well and oh boy, I can't tell you how many times I have imagined and wished to do the things that the MC does here, at the risk of blowing away my female friendships. But this game takes the cake away, the routes although are quite linear with just only two ways, but the path to the end is still long and astounding, and yet very pleasing.

The character writing here is unlike I have ever seen or read before. I haven't finished playing the game (and I skipped a lot of the dialogues because its a porn game) but the female characters aren't some dumb hoes addicted on dicks and shit, they actually have weight, feelings, logic in them. Either you are going down the blackmail way or the romance way, it isn't for the sake of dialogue, but you know that this will affect them mentally and change their thoughts in the end.

The animations are good although they aren't many, but a game that's about photos fits quite true with a lot of good ass angles that will make a photographer like me jizz just by seeing those female character posing.

Finally!! no sex after only 10 minutes playing like all those other games. It's much much better when it's not that easy. The characters are good too even when his mom is the standard 'mature' porn model, which means not mature at all and unreallistic.

Felt a little one dimensional at first but after getting into the swing of things and how to progress certain routes it was very enjoyable! Some of the best renders in any game and some decent writing too.

Great game, great renderings, the dialogues are hilarious, and the NPC stories are great but just a few improvements to made to the story lag. Eg, at night the MC watches some hentais with Evelyn and they have intercourses, and the next morning she's afraid to show off in panties for breakfast. It's a little strange.

Photo Hunt was quite a suprise when you take a look at the rating. Personally I think it should be far higher for a number of reasons.

Regular updates that hit the point and you can always expect them to be on time.

Great renders with distinctive characters that don't look like something that you've seen a million times before.

Decent storyline, which isn't exactly the biggest strength, but it's solid enough to get your attention and your desire to know more (pun intended).

Honestly alot more people should take a look at it. Not to draw comparisons to other developers, but the popularity of Photo Hunt could be better. The developers deliever on a regular basis and there's a pretty good foundation already.

Positive: Beautiful renders, functional UI

Negative: unlikable MC, unlikable father, unlikable mother, detestable sister.

To be fair I couldn't get past the first few minutes, so it might get better further in, but I could not find the willpower to continue...

I will try to get back to this later and change my score if needed.
