Okay, it's been a while since my last "rant". Step away from the forum if you're bored by these things.

So, my question, that, in a sense, all my other questions stem from is: Why don't people play the darn game?

This goes for (a) save requests, (b) password requests, (c) walkthrough requests, (d) quiz answer requests and etc., etc.

It's one thing if the person is trying to simply get to fappable material (dumb, but understandable), but many people don't even seem to try to figure out the game mechanics before crying "help".

Good god, man, it's a game! Play it a little and see if you can manage some simple things like clicking here and there. Outside of super-grind games, most of these things are pretty straightforward and those cries for help could be self-solved.

Hey, I get the doofy "is there any sex" questions. And yes, they are doofy. It's an adult game. Eventually, there will be sex (even in AWAM, should we all live that long).

But, "Hey, can you give me all the passwords up front?" is beyond doofy. It's wtf. Download some porn comics instead.

Okay, I feel better. I doubt any of you who took the time to read this feel the same. But, to be fair, I did warn you at the start.

Can't be dude, I would never go "bruhhhh".

I would, however, look at some of these posts and go "duhhhhh"

There seems to be certain group of people who don't play games, don't understand game conventions and the type of puzzles games tend to have and when challenged they just instantly go to forums to find a way to skip certain part.
However some games are simply designed poorly mandating the use of walkthrough or "this patch requires fresh game" and theres no way you're replaying all of that and you'll just wait until someone posts a save.

My game right now is a very basic VN with one significant choice at the end of the current update. As of right now it's just click and read. Someone in the thread asked for a walkthrough.

Yup. The latter part of your comment I totally get and agree. It's the former that bugs me.

Just observe some teenagers interact nowadays, each time a question pop-up they do not try to remember or even think for a second, they jump on their smartphones and look wikipedia for answers.
A talk about a recipe, a member of the gvt, the new brand of beer..whatever..the need of knowledege is useless when wiki/google has all the answers.
And it works as fine for games, even the mainstreams ones, where are the cheats? How do you pass the next level or solve the problem?
Everything now generation have no time to waste to search (look at thread, can't even read 2 posts previous theirs), they just need to consume at massive proportion....now i want it now and give it to me, this is internet i can have everything in a blink of an eye.

It would be fine if they actually googled the doubts, the guys on the forum just post the same questions 50 times.

And, again, it's not JUST about the questions themselves, it's really over the implication that they don't actually play the game.

To me, that disrespects the effort and imagination many of the creators go through to make their game different and stand out from what has gone before.

Play the game some, at least, and perhaps enjoy more than just a fap scene.

It's even worse when they ask those questions in an obvious linear story novel game, but i also saw some probaly legit posts that they actually pick obvious bad end choices and then get stuck at game over screens.

Maybe some people are just really obvious and really need everything spelled out.

I'd generally agree for the most part and for most games. There are some exceptions where I wouldn't take such an extreme stand and where questions for savegames (games where old saves do not work) and walkthroughs (games which fail to provide sufficient hints or hide certain content extremely well) are somewhat legitimate. In that case it bothers me a lot more that people don't use the search function and ask the same question again and again.

I think the problem in general is that there are quite a few bad games out there and that, in quite a few cases, one can't really be sure if one is just too stupid to complete a mini game/task/passage or if it's just a bug. Of course the problem you mention remains but I wouldn't condem those questions completely and in every case.

The "This generation" argument is always so lazy.

We have plenty of users here who might not speak English as their first language. That can make getting through a game rather hard. Some people might not have the time to devote to sitting for several hours to figure out how to get X ending or Y scene. Some people might not have the computer literacy to navigate a game as easily.

Do I agree it can clutter up threads? Yes

Do I agree its a problem? No, We cater to all sorts of people here and some people have different needs.

Obviously genuine requests for help aren't a problem to anyone, I wouldn't have thought.
What is, is people who don't even want to play the games themselves.
They want anybody else to put the time in & then see all the 'juicy' bits by way of saves.
It doesn't matter what generation you're from, that's just bone idleness, plain & simple.

A fair and reasoned response. And, I'd like to think I can distinguish between the genuine and needful or the lazy/uninterested.

Plus, I try to stay away from those "bad" games, so I can only imagine what those forums must seem like.
