I hope I don’t get in trouble for this but if you like this game check out Pokémon cultivation it’s got an interesting twist to Pokémon like this game although not as fleshed out

Ok level caps are fine that's a thing in normal pokemon games but what I'm not ok with is people somehow doing gyms with -10 levels...seriously just what the hell are they doing to get away with that? I can do -5 to maybe -7 but 10? what's the secret?
From what I saw during the test stream, its a mix of RNG, set-up, forcing enemies to take damage from enviromental traps like Stealth Rock etc, and of course, using Waifumon.

Oh, and he refused to use healing items. Took him a few tries, but he did beat the gyms at -10 for most of the gyms except Gym 4, which he did at -8. Gotta give it to the guy, he is persistent. But his gameplay proved that if you can beat the leaders at -10, a +5 advantage is more than fair for the average player.

Base stats.
The stats of the waifumon are boosted to make them more interesting to use with their improved learnset.
Now mind you. The dev team are not arguing that leveling to the same level as the gym leaders ace, or overleveling, is a bad way to play.

Pokemon H was always intended to be more focused on the gameplay instead of the porn. The dev want to give a fun, challenging game where the porn is second and considered a bonus.

There are multiple ways to make the game challenging. Trainers mons are strong and troughout the game they are more and more handcrafted to make sure to give you a hard time.
The level scaling has also increased. This is not so much an issue in the early game, but later on you will notice you fall behind a bit in levels.

Now, aside from the game being challenging, its also important that the game is fun. If you struggle all the time to keep up, the game becomes a slug. This is not appealing to the majority of the fanbase, understandibly.
Therefore the waifumon have increased stats. Some reaching legendary pokemon base stat totals. This way you will have strong pokemon who can keep up with pokemon that are higher levels since their stats are carrying them.

This way the game can give you fun and OP pokemon with the enemy having higher levels being one of the ways to balance the game.

As for the reason the level cap is introduced. It was simply voted for on the patreon... The question was raised if there should be a level cap that is not optional. The poll was passed with a majority.

This way we will put another challenge on the player. But certainly not one that we deem impossible.
This is also in the spirit of the game, how Sintax wants the game to be.

A challenging game with a fun story, with porn.

As for the -10. yeah we have a BETA tester who is more knowledgable about competative pokemon who beat Gym for while, on average, being 10 lvls below the mons of the gym leader. I can do it with -5 to -7 but it does take some retries and readjusting pokemon positions wich is a fun puzzle to me.

Hope I answered your question and gave a bit more insight in the thought process.

For the next update, it will require a HARD reset, yes you heard me right. This is because we will be implementing two new things that require a reset; A new Rival(and love interest) as well as Level Caps. Don't worry, you can still overlevel, but your overleveling will now been capped to + 5 of the last Gym leader's strongest Mon. That is to say, if their strongest Mon is 50, your level cap for your entire team is 55. Considering that our beta testers are able to beat all Gyms at a -10 level disadvantage, I think this is a fair change.
I'm sorry, but this news just made me lose all interest in the game I had. I sank a considerable amount into grinding levels/IVs, I savescummed proper natures on mons (took me like an hour to get modest on voir), I did all the waifumon's events, including the more tedious puzzles. Suffice to say I got pretty invested into the game and sank a considerable amount of time and effort into it.
Not to mention the game's pretty sadistic difficulty (though not saying it's a BAD thing per se), makes it a chore to some extent to trudge through all the trainers/gyms etc. in the first place. Adding a level cap to make it even harder (so you can't sweep with your starter anymore basically, who got nerfed at some point anyways) doesn't help.

I truly do NOT feel like doing that again from zero.

Adding a secondary rival is IMO a bad move, the development efforts could be used instead on expanding the waifumons or adding extra content for existing gym leaders or something.
This is just my opinion, best of luck with developing it to the end, but I think I'm out.

Well, to be fair, this is a game in development. None of the current or past versions ever promised that it will forever be stable from Alpha 0.1 til the end. So a hard reset is something that players should've expected at some point, especially when we add new features.

I understand your bitterness, since not everyone is keen on replaying the game, but ultimately, it's your decision. Who knows, you might come back some day, and I hope you'll enjoy a full experience then.

But I will not backtrack on this update, as the new Rival is tied to the story and even if I removed the Level Cap implementation, you will still need to reset or else the game won't play correctly with the new Rival's introduction anyway.

Best of luck, it is what it is.

Cant sweep with starter anymore? Buddy, we sweep with Allerita while being -5 lvls below the leaders mons.

This is not challanging. This is pure rng. You either have to "cheat" by using the super potion or pray to rng god for double team to work eventually. It's fine if the rest of the game is challanging as I can train more, change teams etc but at the beginning you can't even do that.

A hard reset isn't the end of the world and the addition of a new rival sounds good, at least on paper. I will wait for the next update, however, to play again. Seems like the smart choice if I'm going to have to start over.

Good job so far dev, even if I'm not much into the pokemon games this one has a nice balance between that and lewd stuff to keep me coming back. Best of luck.
