Just out of curiosity, what would be a good term for a game where a MC has sex with a bunch of different women that he has varying relationships with (some close, some casual), and those women are also all free to have sex with other men and women as they choose?

I would try looking for the tags of other fetishes you are into instead, for instance games with group sex without harem tag usually tend to be less strict about it.
But many harem games also can have relationships outside of the main harem so you really will just have to look around since neither harem or casual sex in general are specific enough tags

Well, if I want casual, fun sex, I'd rather watch porn. But, for VN that I need to invest many hours into and also to emotionally invested with the characters in-game, I prefer it to be romantic and loving.

I really prefer games to strict VNs anyways. For me, a VN with limited choice is basically like reading a comic, and that's fine, but it has to be really well made to keep my interest. And even then, I'm not into it for the romance. Romance is for real life. This kind of stuff for me is fantasy and for what I've never done or will never do for real. I don't want it to be grounded. I want it to stretch the limits of what could plausibly happen to most people.

I want it to be a hot story, with a sandbox or semi-sandbox, where I can pick and choose where the character goes next and who they interact with in which way. Fun, open, hot, messy, consensual sex between adults. The fact that I have control over the MC makes it 10X hotter than watching real porn.

I've found a number of games that I like on here. But the fact that the MC is the only dude in the world who has sex in many of them is just weird and limiting to me. And the group sex tag, more often that not, generally involves MFF, or MFFF+ situations. Not typically MMFF or an orgy. I'd really love to see games that involve a polyamarous group of friends of both sexes, where everyone hooks up with each other.

Both can be good to an extent. Its a harem game. Ideally there isn't someone else involved if this is taking some sort of a marginal serious plot. As I said before, I like sandbox-y/simulation type games. A game can be largely text based, but using RL images is just weird. (Learn to use KK Studio and not use generic asf looking character models?).

I was really looking for a term for when a guy is NOT in a relationship, and just goes around and has sex with a variety of different women. Those are my favorites.

Jail is kinda iffy.

I mean murder is too easy and jail is just giving them a reason to plot your death.
Getting them to break up is the safest and most challanging of outcomes.

Alternatily it could add excitment of getting caught.

I don't want to get ride of rival men. Having my MC seduce the women despite them being attached is really hot, IMO. Sneaky sex behind her man's back, or just having her unable to tell me know because she thinks that my character is that sexy. That's what I want more of.

Being the more desirable man is far more appealing than being the only man.

I think having the choice in game is a bit weird unless it makes sense (I.E, you can make choices that affect her relationship status, such as introducing them to another character.)

Okay, a bit of clarification first, to see where I'm coming from.

First, I'm pretty strongly anti-NTR (in the most general sense of the term). I'm not a fan of other characters messing with my LIs once I've committed to making them my LI. I definitely don't want the LIs having sex with anyone else once I've started going after them (and I absolutely don't want to see it as a side-scene or anything). And I consider lesbian scenes to fall into this as much as I do straight sex scenes - I don't want other women going after my LIs without my knowledge/permission (as the player, not the character) any more than I want them being with other men. And I'd generally much rather be going after unattached LIs rather than having to compete with someone else for their affection, or seducing them away from a current partner.

So all that is going to color how I feel about their past history.

That being said, I'm generally pretty chill about what the LIs were up to before I meet/start to seduce them (or before the game starts). I don't need every possible LI to be a naive virgin who's never even seen a dick before (or vagina - I play as female protagonists as well when there's an option to do so) when I meet them. In incest games I'm not hugely bothered by the idea that my mother was with my father before me (so I don't need convoluted weird BS justifications like how she was artificially inseminated or something just to keep her immune from all prior dick). As long as a female LI isn't constantly talking about how much they loved their previous partner or how great the sex was, I don't really care as long as they're with me now.

It's not appealing if the LI in question is a total slut with dozens of prior partners and a really bad reputation, but she doesn't have to be utterly pure and untouched before I woo her either.

I'm not entirely against the idea of winning a LI away from their current partner by being just that awesome if they haven't been intimate for a while, or even straight-up cucking a dude and making sure he knows it (if he's been a phenomenal asshole in the story and it feels like he needs to be punished with righteous fury), but my preference will always be slowly building up relationships with LIs who are otherwise unattached when they meet me, and willing to prioritize a relationship with me over anyone else.
